Isaías 3
1 Porque el Señor, el Señor de los ejércitos, está a punto de quitarle a Jerusalén y a Judá todo su sustento y apoyo; su almacén de pan y de agua;
For lo! the Lord, Yahweh of hosts, removing from Jerusalem and from Judah, The stay and staff, —The whole stay of bread, And the whole stay of water:
2 El hombre fuerte y el hombre de guerra; el juez y el profeta; el adivino, y el hombre sabio por sus años;
Man of might and man of war, —Judge and prophet And diviner and elder;
3 El capitán de cincuenta, y el hombre de alta posición, el sabio guía, el diestro artífice, él sabio orador.
Captain of fifty, and favourite; And counsellor and skilled artificer, And master of magical formulas;
4 Y haré de los niños sus jefes, y los necios tendrán dominio sobre ellos.
And I will appoint boys to be their princes, —And, petulant children, shall rule over them,
5 Y el pueblo será oprimido, cada uno por su prójimo; los jóvenes estarán llenos de orgullo contra los viejos, y los de baja posición se levantarán contra los nobles.
And the people will, tyrannise, Every man over his fellow-man, And every man over his friend, —And they will rage The boy against, the elder, And the despised, against, the honourable,
6 Cuando un hombre pone su mano sobre otro en la casa de su padre y dice: Tú tienes ropa, sé nuestro gobernante y sé responsable de nosotros en nuestra triste condición.
When a man shall lay hold, on his brother of the house of his father, [saying] —Clothing, hast thou, Become thou our, ruler, This downfall, be under thy hand,
7 Entonces dirá con juramento: No seré ayudante, porque en mi casa no hay pan ni ropa. No permitiré que me conviertas en gobernante de la gente.
He will swear, in that day, saying—I will take no control, When in mine own house, is neither food nor clothing, —Ye must not set me for a ruler of people!
8 Porque Jerusalén se ha debilitado, y la destrucción ha llegado a Judá, porque sus palabras y sus actos son contra el Señor, y han llevado los ojos de su gloria a la ira.
For stumbled hath Jerusalem, and, Judah, hath fallen, —Because, their tongue and their doings, are against Yahweh, Provoking his glorious presence,
9 Su respeto por la posición del hombre es un testigo contra ellos; y su pecado está abierto a la vista de todos; Como la de Sodoma, no está cubierta. ¡Una maldición sobre su alma! porque la medida de su pecado está llena.
The show of their face, hath answered against them, And their sin—like Sodom, have they told, they have not concealed it. Alas for their souls! For they have requited to themselves, calamity.
10 ¡Feliz el hombre recto! porque tendrá el gozo del fruto de sus caminos.
Say ye to the righteous It is well! For the fruit of their doings, shall they eat:
11 ¡Infeliz es el pecador! porque la recompensa de sus malas acciones vendrá sobre él.
Alas! for the lawless, it is ill, For what his own hand hath matured, shall be done to him.
12 En cuanto a mi pueblo, sus opresores son niños, y los que tienen autoridad sobre ellos son mujeres. Oh mi gente, sus guías son la causa de su deambular, desviando sus pasos por el camino equivocado.
My people! children, are their tyrants, And, women, rule over them, —My people! they who should lead thee forward, are causing thee to stray, Thy pathways, have they destroyed,
13 El Señor está listo para tomar su causa contra su pueblo, y está a punto de presentarse como su juez.
Yahweh hath taken his station to plead, —And is standing to judge peoples:
14 El Señor viene a ser el juez de sus hombres responsables y de sus gobernantes: eres tú quien ha hecho malgastar el jardín de la vid, y en tus casas está la propiedad de los pobres que has tomado por la fuerza.
Yahweh, into judgment, will enter, With the elders of his people And their princes, —But ye, have consumed the vineyard, That which hath been robbed from the oppressed, is in your houses.
15 ¿Con qué derecho estás oprimiendo a mi pueblo y poniendo un yugo amargo en el cuello de los pobres? Esta es la palabra del Señor, el Señor de los ejércitos.
What right have ye to crush my people, And the faces of the oppressed, to grind? Demandeth My Lord Yahweh of hosts—And Yahweh saith—
16 Una vez más, el Señor ha dicho: Porque las hijas de Sión están llenas de orgullo, y van con el cuello erguido y los ojos errantes, van como danzando, con sonajeros en el tobillo, haciendo son con los pies.
Because haughty are the daughters of Zion, And they walk with neck thrown back, and wanton eyes, —Tripping along as they go, And with their feet, making, a tinkling sound,
17 El Señor enviará enfermedades sobre las cabezas de las hijas de Sión, y el Señor permitirá que se vean sus partes secretas.
Therefore will My Lord, smite with leprosy the crown of hair of the daughters of Zion, —And, as for Yahweh, their shame, will he lay bare!
18 En ese día el Señor quitará la gloria de sus anillos de los pies, y sus joyas del sol, y sus ornamentos de luna.
In that day, will My Lord remove the finery—of the anklets, and the little suns and the little moons;
19 Los aretes, las cadenas y la ropa delicada.
the pendants and the bracelets and the veils;
20 Las cintas para la cabeza, las cadenas para los brazos, las bandas trabajadas, las cajas de perfumes y sus amuletos.
the chaplets and the armlets and the girdles, and the scent-cases, and the amulets;
21 Los anillos y las joyas de la nariz.
the rings and the nose-jewels;
22 Los vestidos de fiesta, las túnicas, las faldas anchas y los bolsos.
the robes, and the over-tunics, and the cloaks and the purses;
23 Los espejos, las sábanas, los turbantes y los velos.
and the mirrors and the linen wraps, and the tiaras and the cloaks.
24 Y en lugar de una fragancia aromática habrá un mal olor, en vez de un cinturón una cuerda áspera; para una cabeza bien peinada habrá calvicie, y para una hermosa túnica habrá ropa de cilicio; La marca del prisionero en lugar de los ornamentos de los libres.
And it shall come to pass—That instead of fragrance, a putrid odour, shall be, And instead of a girdle, an encircling rope, And instead of braided hair, baldness, And instead of a festal robe, a girding of sackcloth, Branding instead of beauty:
25 Tus hombres serán juzgados, y tus hombres de guerra serán destruidos en la lucha.
Thy males, by the sword shall fall, —And, thy mighty men, by the war;
26 Y en los lugares públicos de sus ciudades habrá dolor y llanto; y se sentará en la tierra, desperdiciada y abandonada.
And her gates shall mourn and lament, —And forsaken, on the ground, shall she sit.
