Isaías 28
1 ¡Ay! Corona de orgullo de los ebrios de Efraín, y la flor marchita de su gloria que está sobre la cabeza de los vencidos por él vino.
Woe to the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim, To the fading flower, his glorious beauty, At the head of the rich valley of a people stupefied with wine.
2 Mira, el Señor tiene un hombre fuerte y poderoso; Como una lluvia de granizo, una tormenta de destrucción, como el desbordamiento de un río fuerte, los vencerá violentamente.
Behold a strong, a mighty one from the Lord Like a storm of hail, like a destructive tempest, Like a flood of mighty, overflowing waters, With violence shall dash it to the ground.
3 La corona de orgullo de los que se entregan al vino en Efraín será aplastada bajo el pie;
It shall be trodden under foot, The proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim.
4 Y la flor marchita él adorno de su gloria, que está en la cabeza del valle fértil, será como el primer fruto temprano antes del verano; que un hombre toma y pone en su boca en el momento en que lo ve.
And the fading flower, their glorious beauty, At the head of the rich valley, Shall be as the early fig before the time of harvest, Which whoso seeth plucketh immediately, And swalloweth as soon as it is in his hand.
5 En aquel día, el Señor de los ejércitos será una corona de gloria y un hermoso adorno para el resto de su pueblo;
In that day shall Jehovah of hosts Be a glorious crown, and a beautiful diadem to the residue of his people;
6 Y un espíritu de sabiduría para el juez, y fortaleza para los que rechazan a los atacantes en la puerta de la ciudad.
A spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, And of strength to them that drive back the enemy to their gates.
7 Y además, estos se tambalean por él vino, y han salido del camino correcto a través de una bebida fuerte: el sacerdote y el profeta se tambalean por la bebida fuerte, son vencidos por el vino, han salido del camino a través de bebida fuerte; Su visión es falsa, se equivocan en sus decisiones.
But even these stagger through wine, And reel through strong drink; The priest and the prophet stagger through strong drink; They are overpowered with wine; They stumble through strong drink; They reel in vision, They stagger in judgment.
8 Porque todas las mesas están cubiertas de vómito asqueroso, y no hay un lugar limpio.
For all their tables are full of filthy vomit, So that there is no place clean.
9 ¿A quién dará conocimiento? ¿Y a quién hará entender el mensaje? ¿Será para aquellos que han dejado de tomar leche y son como niños chiquitos?
“Whom,” say they, “will he teach knowledge, And to whom will he impart instruction? To the weaned from the milk? To those just taken from the breast?
10 Porque es una regla tras otra; una línea tras otra, Aquí un poco, Allí un poco.
For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept, Command upon command, command upon command, A little here, and a little there.”
11 No, pero con palabras raras y con una lengua extraña, dará su palabra a este pueblo:
Yea, with stammering lips and a strange tongue He shall indeed speak to this people;
12 A quien dijo: Este es el reposo, dale descanso al cansado; y por esto puedes obtener nueva fuerza; pero ellos no quisieron oír.
He that said to them, “This is the way of rest, give rest to the weary; This is the way of safety”; But they would not hear.
13 Por esta causa, la palabra del Señor será para ellos regla tras regla, línea tras línea, aquí un poco, allí un poco; para que puedan seguir su camino, y al retroceder, sean quebrantados, enlazados y presos.
Then shall the word of Jehovah be indeed to them “Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, Command upon command, command upon command, A little here, and a little there,” So that they shall go on, and fall backwards, and be broken, And be snared and caught.
14 Escuchen, pues, la palabra del Señor, hombres de orgullo, gobernantes de este pueblo en Jerusalén.
Wherefore hear ye the word of Jehovah, Ye scoffers, who rule this people in Jerusalem!
15 Porque han dicho: Hemos hecho de la muerte nuestro amigo, y con el inframundo hemos llegado a un acuerdo; cuando las aguas desbordantes pasen, no se acercarán a nosotros; porque estamos buscando la mentira por nuestro refugio, y en él engaño nos hemos escondido. (Sheol h7585)
Since ye say, “We have entered into a covenant with death, And with the under-world have we made an agreement, The overflowing scourge, when it passeth through, shall not reach us; For we have made falsehood our refuge, And in deceit we have hidden ourselves.” (Sheol h7585)
16 Por esta causa dice el Señor Dios: Mira, estoy colocando en Sión como una base, una piedra, una piedra escogida, una piedra angular de cimiento firme y de gran valor, y el que crea no se apresure.
Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I have laid in Zion as a foundation a stone, A tried stone, a precious corner-stone, a sure foundation; He that trusteth shall not flee away.
17 Tomaré la decisión correcta, la línea de medición, y la justicia, el peso. Y la tormenta de hielo destruirá el lugar de refugio de las mentiras, y el lugar de protección será arrasado por las aguas que fluyen.
I will make justice a line, And righteousness a plummet, And the hail shall sweep away the refuge of falsehood, And the waters shall overwhelm its hiding-place;
18 Y tu pacto con la muerte, será anulado, y tu acuerdo con el inframundo se romperá; cuando pase el azote abrumador, serán pisoteados por él. (Sheol h7585)
And your covenant with death shall be broken, And your agreement with the under-world shall not stand; When the overflowing scourge shall pass through, By it shall ye be beaten down. (Sheol h7585)
19 Cuantas veces pase, los alcanzará; porque vendrán mañana tras mañana, día y noche, y será por espanto él solo entender el reporte.
As often as it passeth through, it shall bear you away; For every morning shall it pass through, By day and by night; Even to hear the rumor of it shall be terrible.
20 Porque la cama no es lo suficientemente larga para que un hombre se estire, y la cubierta no es lo suficientemente ancha como para cubrirse.
Yea, the bed is too short for one to stretch himself on it, And the covering too narrow for one to wrap himself in it.
21 Porque el SEÑOR subirá como en el monte Perazim, será llevado a la ira como en el valle de Gabaón; para que pueda hacer su obra, su extraña obra; y dar efecto a su acto, su acto extraordinario.
For Jehovah will rise up, as in mount Perazim; He will be moved with anger, as in the valley of Gibeon, To perform his act, his strange act, And to execute his work, his strange work.
22 Y ahora, cuídate de no burlarte de él, o tus cadenas se harán fuertes; porque he recibido una palabra del Señor, el Señor de los ejércitos, de un fin, de un final completo, que ha de venir a toda la tierra.
Now, therefore, be ye no longer scoffers, Lest your bands become stronger; For destruction and punishment have been revealed to me From Jehovah of hosts concerning the whole land!
23 Sean tus oídos abiertos a mi voz; Pon atención a lo que digo.
Give ear, and listen to my voice, Attend, and hearken to my words!
24 ¿Está el arado para arar siempre? ¿No prepara la tierra y la rompe para la semilla?
Is the ploughman always ploughing in order to sow? Is he always opening and harrowing his field?
25 Cuando se ha nivelado la faz de la tierra, ¿no pone las diferentes clases de semillas, y el grano en líneas, y la cebada y el centeno en los bordes?
When he hath made the face thereof even, Doth he not then scatter the dill, and cast abroad the cumin, And sow the wheat in rows, And the barley in its appointed place, And the spelt in his border?
26 Porque su Dios es su maestro, que le da el conocimiento de estas cosas.
Thus his God rightly instructeth him, And giveth him knowledge.
27 Porque las piezas no se aplastan con un instrumento afilado, y una rueda de carro no se hace rodar sobre el comino; pero el grano de las hendiduras se martilla con un palo, y del comino con una varilla.
The dill is not beaten out with the thrashing-sledge, Nor is the wheel of the wain rolled over the cumin; But the dill is beaten out with a staff, And the cumin with a rod.
28 ¿Se tritura el grano para el pan? No lo sigue aplastando para siempre, pero deja que sus ruedas de carro y sus caballos lo pasen sin aplastarlo.
Bread-corn is beaten out, Yet doth not the husbandman thrash it without limit. He driveth over it the wheels of the wain, And the horses, yet doth he not utterly crush it.
29 Esto viene del Señor de los ejércitos, haciendo maravillosos sus consejos y grande su sabiduría.
This also proceedeth from Jehovah of hosts; He is wonderful in counsel, Excellent in wisdom.
