Isaías 20

1 En el año en que el comandante llegó a Asdod, enviado por Sargón, rey de Asiria, hizo una guerra contra ella y la tomó;

In the year that Tartan came to Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, and he fought against Ashdod and took it,

2 En aquel momento vino la palabra del Señor a Isaías, hijo de Amoz, que decía: Ve, y quítate la túnica y los zapatos de tus pies. Y así lo hizo, andando sin ropa y sin zapatos en los pies.

at that time Jehovah spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go, and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put thy shoe from off thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

3 Y el Señor dijo: Como mi siervo Isaías estuvo sin ropa y sin zapatos durante tres años como una señal y una maravilla para Egipto y Etiopía.

And Jehovah said, Just as my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and a wonder concerning Egypt and concerning Ethiopia,

4 Así se llevará el rey de Asiria a los prisioneros de Egipto y a los expulsados de Etiopía, jóvenes y viejos, sin ropa y sin zapatos, y con la espalda descubierta, para vergüenza de Egipto.

so shall the king of Assyria lead away the captives of Egypt, and the exiles of Ethiopia, young and old, naked and barefoot, and with buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

5 Y estarán llenos de temor, y ya no tendrán fe en Etiopía, que era su esperanza, o en Egipto, que era su gloria.

And they shall be dismayed and confounded because of Ethiopia their confidence, and of Egypt their glory.

6 Y los que viven junto al mar dirán en ese día: Mira el destino de nuestra esperanza, a quien acudimos en busca de ayuda y salvación del rey de Asiria: ¿qué esperanza tenemos entonces de la salvación?

And the inhabitant of this coastland shall say in that day, Behold, such is our trust, where we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria. And we, how shall we escape?
