Habacuc 1

1 La visión que tuvo el profeta Habacuc.

The burden which the prophet Ambacum saw.

2 ¿Hasta cuándo, Señor, tus oídos estarán cerrados a mi voz? Te reclamo por el comportamiento violento, pero no envías la salvación.

How long, O Lord, shall I cry out, and thou wilt not hearken? [how long] shall I cry out to thee being injured, and thou wilt not save?

3 ¿Por qué me haces ver maldad, y por qué me haces ver la opresión? porque la destrucción y los actos violentos están delante de mí; hay peleas y argumentos amargos.

Wherefore hast thou shown me troubles and griefs to look upon, misery and ungodliness? judgment is before me, and the judge receives a reward.

4 Por esta razón, la ley es débil y la justicia no prevalece; porque el hombre recto está rodeado de malhechores; por lo cual la justicia es pervertida.

Therefore the law is frustrated, and judgment proceeds not effectually, for the ungodly [man] prevails over the just; therefore perverse judgment will proceed.

5 Miren entre las naciones, y tomen nota, y sean maravillados, asómbrense; porque en sus días estoy haciendo un trabajo en el que no creerán, incluso si alguien les contara.

Behold, ye despisers, and look, and wonder marvelously, and vanish: for I work a work in your days, which ye will in no wise believe, though a man declare [it to you].

6 Porque he aquí, estoy enviando a los caldeos, esa nación amargada y veloz; quienes atraviesan los amplios espacios de la tierra para adueñarse de lugares de vida que no son de ellos.

Wherefore, behold, I stir up the Chaldeans, the bitter and hasty nation, that walks upon the breadth of the earth, to inherit tabernacles not his own.

7 Imponente y terrible: su derecho y grandeza proviene de ellos mismos.

He is terrible and famous; his judgment shall proceed of himself, and his dignity shall come out of himself.

8 Y sus caballos son más rápidos que los leopardos y sus jinetes más crueles que los lobos nocturnos; vienen de muy lejos, como un águila en vuelo que se apresura a comer.

And his horses shall bound [more swiftly] than leopards, and [they are] fiercer than the wolves of Arabia: and his horsemen shall ride forth, and shall rush from far; and they shall fly as an eagle hasting to eat.

9 Vienen todos con fuerza para hacer violencia; la dirección de sus caras es hacia adelante, el número de sus prisioneros es como las arenas del mar.

Destruction shall come upon ungodly men, resisting with their adverse front, and he shall gather the captivity as the sand.

10 Se burlan de los reyes, los gobernantes son una burla para ellos; todos las fortalezas son para reírse; porque amontonarán rampas y las tomarán.

And he shall be at his ease with kings, and princes are his toys, and he shall mock at every strong-hold, and shall cast a mound, and take possession of it.

11 Entonces su parecer será cambiado, pasará y será culpable; hará de su fuerza su dios.

Then shall he change his spirit, and he shall pass through, and make an atonement, [saying], This strength [belongs] to my god.

12 ¿No eres eterno, oh Señor mi Dios, mi Santo? para ti no hay muerte. Oh Señor, él ha sido ordenado por ti para nuestro castigo; y por ti, les has dado fuerzas para corregirnos.

[Art] not thou from the beginning, O Lord God, my Holy One? and surely we shall not die. O Lord, thou hast established it for judgment, and he has formed me to chasten [with] his correction.

13 Muy limpio eres de ojos, y no puedes ver el pecado, ni puedes ver el mal? ¿Por qué, apruebas la maldad? ¿Por qué no dices nada cuando el malhechor destruye a alguien que es más recto que él?

[His] eye is too pure to behold evil [doings], and to look upon grievous afflictions: wherefore dost thou look upon despisers? wilt thou be silent when the ungodly swallows up the just?

14 Él ha hecho a los hombres como los peces del mar, como los gusanos que no tienen gobernante sobre ellos.

And wilt thou make men as the fishes of the sea, and as the reptiles which have no guide?

15 Los toma a todos con su anzuelo, los toma en su red y los reúne en su red de pesca: por lo cual está contento y lleno de alegría.

He has brought up destruction with a hook, and drawn one with a casting net, and caught another in his drags: therefore shall his heart rejoice and be glad.

16 Por esta razón hace una ofrenda a su red, quemando perfume a su red de pesca; porque con ellos obtiene mucha comida y su carne es suculenta.

Therefore will he sacrifice to his drag, and burn incense to his casting-net, because by them he has made his portion fat, and his meats choice.

17 Por esta razón su red está siempre abierta, y su destrucción de las naciones no tiene fin.

Therefore will he cast his net, and will not spare to slay the nations continually.
