Génesis 48

1 Después de estas cosas, vino la noticia a José de que su padre estaba enfermo; y tomó consigo a sus hijos Manasés y Efraín.

And it came to pass after these things, that some one said to Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick; and he took his two sons with him, Menasseh and Ephraim.

2 Y cuando dijeron a Jacob: Tu hijo José viene a verte; luego Israel, juntando todas sus fuerzas, se hizo levantar en su lecho.

And some one told Jacob, and said, Behold, thy son Joseph is coming unto thee; and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.

3 Y Jacob dijo a José: Dios, el Soberano de todos, vino a mí en visión en Luz en la tierra de Canaán, y me bendijo,

And Jacob said unto Joseph, God, the Almighty, appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,

4 Y me dijo: De cierto te haré fértil, y te daré fruto, y haré de ti una gran familia de naciones; y daré esta tierra por heredad para siempre después de ti.

And he said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and I will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.

5 Y ahora tus dos hijos que nacieron en Egipto antes de venir a ti aquí, son míos; Efraín y Manasés serán míos, del mismo modo que lo son Rubén y Simeón.

And now thy two sons, who were born unto thee in the land of Egypt, before I came unto thee into Egypt, shall be mine; Ephraim and Menasseh shall be unto me as Reuben and Simeon.

6 Y cualquier otra descendencia que tengas después de ellos, será tuya, y se nombrará por sus hermanos en su herencia.

And thy issue, which thou begettest after them, shall be thine, after the name of their brothers shall they be called in their inheritance.

7 Y en cuanto a mí, cuando vine de Paddan, la muerte alcanzó a Raquel en el camino, cuando aún estábamos lejos de Efrata; y la detuve allí en el camino a Efrata, que es Belén.

And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan on the way, when yet there was some distance to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there on the way of Ephrath, the same is Beth-lechem.

8 Entonces Israel, mirando a los hijos de José, dijo: ¿Quiénes son éstos?

And Israel perceived the sons of Joseph, and said, Who are these?

9 Y José dijo a su padre: Ellos son mis hijos, a quienes Dios me ha dado en esta tierra. Y él dijo: Dejen que se acerquen a mí, y les daré una bendición.

And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God hath given me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless them.

10 Ahora, porque Israel era viejo, sus ojos ya no estaban claros, y él no podía ver. Así que los hizo acercarse a él, y les dio un beso, y los abrazo.

Now the eyes of Israel were dim through age, he could not see; and he brought them near unto him, and he kissed them, and embraced them.

11 Y dijo Israel a José: No tuve esperanza de volver a ver tu rostro, pero Dios en su misericordia me ha permitido verte a ti y a tus hijos.

And Israel said unto Joseph, To see thy face I had not hoped; and lo, God hath shown me also thy seed.

12 Entonces José los tomó de entre sus rodillas, y se postró rostro en tierra.

And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.

13 Entonces tomando a Efraín con su mano derecha, José lo puso al costado izquierdo de Israel, y con su mano izquierda puso a Manasés a la derecha de Israel, colocándolos cerca de él.

And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left, and Menasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right, and brought them near unto him.

14 Entonces Israel, extendiendo su mano derecha, la puso sobre la cabeza de Efraín, el menor, y su mano izquierda sobre la cabeza de Manasés, cruzando las manos a propósito, porque Manasés era el mayor.

And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Menasseh's head; he laid his hands wittingly; although Menasseh was the first-born.

15 Y bendijo a José, diciendo: El Dios a quien mis padres Abraham e Isaac adoraron, Dios que me ha cuidado toda mi vida hasta el día de hoy,

And he blessed Joseph, and said, The God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God who fed me from my first being unto this day,

16 El ángel que ha sido mi salvador de todo mal, envía su bendición sobre estos niños; y que les sea dado mi nombre y el nombre de mis padres, Abraham e Isaac; y que se conviertan en una gran nación en la tierra.

The angel who redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be called on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

17 Y cuando vio José que su padre había puesto su mano derecha sobre la cabeza de Efraín, no le pareció bien; y alzando la mano de su padre la pondría sobre la cabeza de Manasés.

And when Joseph saw that his father would lay his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he took hold of his father's hand, to remove it from the head of Ephraim unto the head of Menasseh.

18 Y José dijo a su padre: No es así, mi padre, porque este es el mayor; pon tu mano derecha sobre su cabeza.

And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father; for this is the first-born, put thy right hand upon his head.

19 Pero su padre no quiso, diciendo: Lo hago a propósito, hijo mío; ciertamente se convertirá en una nación y en una gran persona; pero su hermano menor será más grande que él, y su simiente se convertirá en una gran familia de naciones.

And his father refused, and said, I know, my son, I know, he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great; but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.

20 Y les dio la bendición aquel día, diciendo: Tú serás la señal de bendición en Israel, porque dirán: Dios te haga como Efraín y Manasés; y él puso a Efraín antes de Manasés.

And he blessed them that day, saying, With thee shall Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and Menasseh: and so he set Ephraim before Menasseh.

21 Entonces Israel dijo a José: Ahora mi muerte está cerca; pero Dios estará contigo, guiándote de vuelta a la tierra de tus padres.

And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die; but God will be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers

22 Y te he dado más que a tus hermanos, también a Siquem como tu heredad, la cual tomé de los amorreos con mi espada y mi arco.

Moreover I have given unto thee one portion above thy brothers, which I took out of the hand of the Emorite with my sword and with my bow.
