Génesis 3
1 Y la serpiente era más sabia que toda bestia del campo que el Señor Dios había hecho. Y le dijo a la mujer: ¿Realmente ha dicho Dios que no puedes tomar del fruto de ningún árbol en el jardín?
Now, the serpent, was more crafty than any living thing of the field which Yahweh God had made, so he said unto the woman, Can it really be that God hath said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 Y la mujer dijo: Podemos tomar del fruto de los árboles en el jardín:
And the woman said unto the serpent, —Of the fruit of the trees of the garden, we may eat;
3 Pero del fruto del árbol en el medio del jardín, Dios dijo: Si te lo comes o tocas, la muerte vendrá a ti.
but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said Ye shall not eat of it neither shall ye touch it, —lest ye die.
4 Y la serpiente dijo: La muerte ciertamente no vendrá a ti:
And the serpent said unto the woman, —Ye shall not die,
5 Porque Dios sabe que el día en que tomes de su fruto, tus ojos serán abiertos, y serán como dioses, teniendo conocimiento del bien y del mal.
For God doth know, that in the day ye eat thereof, then shall your eyes be opened, —and ye shall become like God, knowing good and evil.
6 Y cuando la mujer vio que el árbol era bueno para comer, y deleite para los ojos, y para llegar a tener conocimiento, tomó de su fruto y se lo dio a su marido.
And, when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was desirable to the eyes and the tree was pleasant to make one knowing, then took she of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and she gave to her husband also, along with her, and he did eat.
7 y tenían los ojos abiertos, y eran conscientes de que no tenían ropa, y se hicieron abrigos de hojas cosidas.
Then were opened the eyes of them both, and they knew that, naked, they were, —so they tacked together fig-leaves, and made for themselves girdles,
8 Y vino a ellos el sonido de él Señor Dios que andaba en el jardín en la brisa del día; y el hombre y su mujer fueron a un lugar secreto entre los árboles del jardín, lejos de los ojos del Señor Dios.
Then heard they the sound of Yahweh God, walking to and fro in the garden at the breeze of the day, —so he hid himself—the man with his wife, from the face of Yahweh God, amid the trees of the garden.
9 Y la voz del Señor Dios vino al hombre, diciendo: ¿Dónde estás?
And Yahweh God called unto the man, —and said to him, Where art thou?
10 Y él dijo: Al oír tu voz en el jardín, tuve temor, porque estaba desnudo, y me aparté de tus ojos.
And he said, The sound of thee, heard I in the garden, and I was afraid, for, naked, was I, so I hid myself.
11 Y él dijo: ¿Quién te dio a saber que estás desnudo? ¿Has tomado la fruta del árbol que dije que no debes tomar?
And he said, Who told thee that, naked, thou wast? Of the tree whereof I commanded thee not to eat, hast thou eaten?
12 Y el hombre dijo: La mujer que me diste por compañera, ella me dio el fruto del árbol, y yo lo tomé.
And the man said, —The woman whom thou didst put with me, she, gave me of the tree, so I did eat.
13 Y él Señor Dios dijo a la mujer: ¿Qué has hecho? Y la mujer dijo: fui engañada por la serpiente y lo comí.
Then said Yahweh God to the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, the serpent, deceived me, so I did eat.
14 Y él Señor Dios dijo a la serpiente: Por cuanto esto hiciste, maldita serás más que todo el ganado y toda bestia del campo; sobre tu pecho te arrastrarás, y el polvo será tu alimento todos los días de tu vida:
Then said Yahweh God unto the serpent—Because thou hast done this, Accursed, art thou above every tame-beast, and above every wild-beast of the field, —on thy belly, shalt thou go, and dust, shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.
15 Y habrá guerra entre ti y la mujer, y entre tu simiente y la simiente suya: por él será aplastada tu cabeza, y tú le herirás el calcañar.
And enmity, will I put between thee, and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed, —He shall crush thy head, but, thou, shalt crush his heel.
16 A la mujer le dijo: Grande será tu dolor en el parto; en la tristeza nacerán tus hijos; aun así tu deseo será para tu esposo, pero él será tu amo.
Unto the woman, he said, I will, increase, thy pain of pregnancy, In pain, shalt thou bear children, —Yet, unto thy husband, shall be thy longing, Though, he, rule over thee.
17 Y a Adán dijo: Por cuanto oíste la voz de tu mujer, y tomaste del fruto del árbol que yo te dije que no a tomar, la tierra está maldita en tu cuenta; en el dolor obtendrán su comida de ella toda su vida.
And, to the man, he said, Because thou didst hearken to the voice of thy wife, and so didst eat of the tree as to which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it, Accursed be the ground for thy sake, In pain, shalt thou eat of it, all the days of thy life;
18 Aparecerán espinos y plantas deshechas, y las plantas del campo serán tu alimento;
Thorn also and thistle, shall it shoot forth to thee, —when thou hast come to eat of the herb of the field:
19 Con el duro trabajo de tus manos obtendrás tu pan hasta que vuelvas a la tierra de la que fuiste tomado: porque polvo eres y al polvo volverás.
In the sweat of thy face, shalt thou eat bread, until thou return to the ground, because therefrom, wast thou taken, —For, dust, thou art, And, unto dust, shalt thou return.
20 Y el hombre le dio a su mujer el nombre de Eva porque ella era la madre de todos los que tienen vida.
So the man called the name of his wife, Eve, —in that, she, was made mother of every one living.
21 Y el Señor Dios hizo para Adán y para su mujer las túnicas de pieles para su ropa.
And Yahweh God made for the man—and for his wife—tunics of skin and clothed them.
22 Y él Señor Dios dijo: Ahora el hombre se ha hecho como uno de nosotros, teniendo conocimiento del bien y del mal; y ahora, pues, si extiende su mano y toma del fruto del árbol de la vida, vivirá para siempre.
Then said Yahweh God—Lo! man, hath become like one of us, in respect of knowing good and evil, —Now, therefore, lest he thrust forth his hand, and take even of the tree of life, and eat, and live to times age-abiding, —
23 Entonces el Señor Dios lo envió fuera del huerto de Edén para ser un obrero en la tierra de donde fue tomado.
So Yahweh God put him forth from the garden of Eden, —to till the ground wherefrom he had been taken.
24 Entonces él envió al hombre fuera; y al este del jardín del Edén puso querubines y una espada encendida girando en todas direcciones para seguir el camino hacia el árbol de la vida.
So he expelled the man, —and caused to dwell—in front of the garden of Eden—cherubim and a brandishing sword—flame, to keep the way to the tree of life.
