Génesis 17

1 Cuando Abram tenía noventa y nueve años, el Señor vino a él y le dijo: Yo soy Dios, Gobernante de todos; anda en mis caminos y sé recto en todas las cosas,

And it came to pass that, when Abram was ninety and nine years old, Yahweh appeared unto Abram, and said unto him, I, am GOD Almighty, —Walk, thou before me and become thou blameless:

2 Y haré un acuerdo entre tú y yo, y tu descendencia se incrementará grandemente.

That I may set my covenant betwixt me and thee, And may multiply thee, exceedingly.

3 Y Abram se postró rostro en tierra, y él Señor Dios siguió hablando con él, y dijo:

And Abram fell on his face, —and God spake with him, saying:

4 En cuanto a mí, mi acuerdo está hecho contigo, y tú serás el padre de las naciones sin fin.

As for me, lo! my covenant is with thee, —So shalt thou become—father of a multitude of nations;

5 Ya no te llamarás Abram, sino Abraham, porque yo te he puesto por padre de muchas naciones.

And thy name shall no more be called Abram, —but thy name shall become Abraham, for father of a multitude of nations, have I appointed thee;

6 Te haré muy fértil, para que las naciones salgan de ti y los reyes sean tus descendientes.

And I will make thee fruitful, exceedingly, and grant thee to be nations, —Yea kings, out of thee, shall come forth;

7 Y haré entre ustedes y yo y tu descendencia después de ti por todas las generaciones, un acuerdo eterno para ser un Dios para ti y para tu descendencia después de ti.

And I will confirm my covenant betwixt me and thee and thy seed after thee to their generations for an age-abiding covenant, —to become to thee a God, and to thy seed after thee;

8 Y a ti y a tu descendencia después de ti, daré a la tierra en que vives, toda la tierra de Canaán por herencia eterna; y seré su Dios.

And I will give to thee and to thy seed after thee the land of thy sojournings—all the land of Canaan, for an age-abiding possession—And I will be to them a God.

9 Y Dios dijo a Abraham: De parte de ti, guardarás la alianza, tú y tu simiente después de ti por todas las generaciones.

And God said unto Abraham, But, as for thee, my covenant, must thou keep, thou and thy seed after thee, to their generations: —

10 Y este es el acuerdo que guardarás conmigo, tú y tu simiente después de ti: todo varón de entre ustedes será sometido a la circuncisión.

This, is my covenant which ye shall keep, betwixt me and you, and thy seed after thee, —To circumcise to you every male:

11 En la carne de tus partes privadas deben circuncidarse, como una señal del pacto entre tú y yo.

So shall ye be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, —So shall it become a sign of a covenant, betwixt me and you.

12 Cada varón entre ustedes, de una generación a otra, se someterá a la circuncisión cuando tenga ocho días, con cada criado cuyo nacimiento tenga lugar en su casa, o por quien le dio dinero a alguien de otro país, y no de tu semilla.

And he that is eight days old, shall be circumcised to you every male to your generations, —he that is born of the house, and he that is bought with silver of any son of a stranger, who is, not of thy seed,

13 El que nace en tu casa, y el que se hizo tuyo por precio, todos serán sometidos a la circuncisión; para que mi pacto pueda ser marcado en tu carne, un acuerdo para todos los tiempos.

He must surely be circumcised, born of thy house or bought with thy silver, —So shall my covenant be in your flesh for an age-abiding covenant.

14 Y cualquier varón que no se someta a la circuncisión será cortado de su pueblo; mi pacto ha sido quebrantado por él.

But, as for the uncircumcised male who shall not be circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, —that person shall be cut off from among his people, —my covenant, hath he made void.

15 Y dijo Dios: En cuanto a Sarai, tu mujer, desde ahora su nombre no será Sarai, sino Sara.

And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, —but, Sarah, is her name;

16 Y yo la bendeciré, y tendrás un hijo por ella; de cierto la bendeciré sobre ella, y será madre de naciones; reyes de pueblos será su descendencia.

and I will bless her, yea moreover will give—from her—to thee, a son, —And I will bless her, and she shall become nations. Kings of peoples, from her, shall arise.

17 Entonces Abraham se postró rostro en tierra, y riendo, dijo en su corazón: ¿Puede un varón de cien años tener un hijo? ¿Sara, a los noventa años, dará a luz?

And Abraham fell on his face and laughed, —and said in his heart To one a hundred years old, shall a child be born? And shall even Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth?

18 Y Abraham le dijo a Dios: ¡Si tan solo la vida de Ismael fuera tu cuidado!

And Abraham said unto God, —Oh that, Ishmael, might live before thee!

19 Y Dios dijo: No es así; pero Sara, tu mujer, tendrá un hijo, y le pondrás el nombre de Isaac, y yo haré mi pacto con él para siempre y con su simiente después de él.

And God said—Truly, Sarah thy wife, is about to bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name, Isaac, —and I will establish my covenant with him as an age-abiding covenant, to his seed after him.

20 En cuanto a Ismael, he escuchado tu oración: en verdad le he dado mi bendición y le haré fértil y le daré gran fruto; él será el padre de doce jefes, y yo haré de él una gran nación.

Yet as for Ishmael, I have heard thee; lo! I have blessed him and will make him fruitful, and multiply him, exceedingly, —twelve princes, shall he beget, and I will grant him to be a great nation;

21 Pero mi pacto será con Isaac, a quien Sara dará a luz un año a partir de este momento.

But my covenant, will I establish with Isaac, —whom Sarah shall bear, to thee, by this set time, in the next year.

22 Y dicho estas palabras, Dios se fue de Abraham.

And he left off speaking with him, —and God went up from Abraham.

23 Y tomó Abraham a su hijo Ismael, y a todos los que nacieron en su casa, y a todos sus siervos que él había hecho por precio, todos los varones de su casa, y en aquel mismo día les dio la circuncisión en la carne de sus partes privadas como Dios le había dicho.

So Abraham took Ishmael his son and all born of his house and all bought with his silver—every male among the men of the house of Abraham, —and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin on this selfsame day, according to that which God had spoken with him.

24 Abraham tenía noventa y nueve años cuando se sometió a la circuncisión.

Now Abraham, was ninety-nine years old, —when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

25 E Ismael, su hijo, tenía trece años cuando fue sometido a la circuncisión.

And Ishmael, his son, was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

26 Abraham e Ismael, su hijo, se sometieron a la circuncisión en ese mismo día.

On this selfsame day, was Abraham circumcised, —and Ishmael his son;

27 Y todos los hombres de su casa, los que habían nacido en la casa, y los que había recibido por dinero de los hombres de otras tierras, pasaron por la circuncisión con él.

and, all the men of his house, born of his house, and bought with silver from the son of a stranger, were circumcised with him.
