Gálatas 3

1 Oh gálatas insensatos, ¿Quién los embrujo, para no obedecer la verdad, a ustedes quien se les hizo claro, ante sus ojos, que Jesucristo fue ejecutado en la cruz?

O foolish Galatians, by what strange powers have you been tricked, to whom it was made clear that Jesus Christ was put to death on the cross?

2 Dame una respuesta a esta pregunta: ¿Vino el Espíritu a ti por las obras de la ley, o por el oír de la fe?

Give me an answer to this one question, Did the Spirit come to you through the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

3 ¿Eres tan tonto? habiendo comenzado en el Espíritu, ¿quieren ahora terminar con esfuerzos puramente humanos?

Are you so foolish? having made a start in the Spirit, will you now be made complete in the flesh?

4 ¿Pasaste por tantas persecuciones en vano? si es que realmente fue en vano.

Did you undergo such a number of things to no purpose? if it is in fact to no purpose.

5 El que les da el Espíritu, y hace milagros entre ustedes, ¿es por obras de la ley o por el oír de la fe?

He who gives you the Spirit, and does works of power among you, is it by the works of law, or by the hearing of faith?

6 Así como Abraham tuvo fe en Dios, y fue puesto a su cuenta como justicia.

Even as Abraham had faith in God, and it was put to his account as righteousness.

7 Deben de saber, entonces, que los que son de fe, los mismos son hijos de Abraham.

Be certain, then, that those who are of faith, the same are sons of Abraham.

8 Y las Sagradas Escrituras, viendo antes del evento que Dios daría a los gentiles justificación por fe, dieron las buenas nuevas a Abraham, diciendo: En ti todas las naciones tendrán bendición.

And the holy Writings, seeing before the event that God would give the Gentiles righteousness by faith, gave the good news before to Abraham, saying, In you will all the nations have a blessing.

9 Entonces los que son de la fe tienen parte en la bendición de Abraham que estaba lleno de fe.

So then those who are of faith have a part in the blessing of Abraham who was full of faith.

10 Porque todos los que dependen de las obras de la ley están bajo maldición; porque está dicho en los Escritos, una maldición está sobre todos los que no siguen haciendo todas las cosas que están ordenadas en el libro de la ley.

For all who are of the works of the law are under a curse: because it is said in the Writings, A curse is on everyone who does not keep on doing all the things which are ordered in the book of the law.

11 Ahora que nadie obtiene la justicia por la ley a los ojos de Dios, es claro; porque, los justos vivirán por fe.

Now that no man gets righteousness by the law in the eyes of God, is clear; because, The upright will be living by faith.

12 Y la ley no es de fe; pero, el que las hace tendrá vida por ellas.

And the law is not of faith; but, He who does them will have life by them.

13 Cristo nos ha hecho libres de la maldición de la ley, habiéndose convertido en una maldición por nosotros; porque en las Escrituras se dice: Una maldición sobre todos los que mueren colgados de un árbol:

Christ has made us free from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us: because it is said in the Writings, A curse on everyone who is put to death by hanging on a tree:

14 Para que sobre los Gentiles venga la bendición de Abraham en Cristo Jesús; para que por medio de la fe recibamos la promesa del Espíritu que Dios ha prometido.

So that on the Gentiles might come the blessing of Abraham in Christ Jesus; in order that we through faith might have the Spirit which God had undertaken to give.

15 Hermanos, hablo en términos humanos, cuando se ha hecho pacto, incluso el acuerdo de un hombre confirmado, nadie lo invalida ni se le pueden hacer adiciones.

Brothers, as men would say, even a man's agreement, when it has been made certain, may not be put on one side, or have additions made to it.

16 Ahora bien, a Abraham fueron hechas, y a su simiente. No dice, y a las semillas, como a un gran número; sino como de uno, él dice: Y a tu simiente, que es Cristo.

Now to Abraham were the undertakings given, and to his seed. He says not, And to seeds, as of a great number; but as of one, he says, And to your seed, which is Christ.

17 Ahora bien, esto digo: La ley, que vino cuatrocientos treinta años después, no pone fin al pacto ratificado por Dios para con Cristo, no puede ser causa para invalidar la promesa.

Now this I say: The law, which came four hundred and thirty years after, does not put an end to the agreement made before by God, so as to make the undertaking without effect.

18 Porque si la herencia es por la ley, ya no sería promesa de Dios; pero Dios se la dio a Abraham por su promesa.

Because if the heritage is by the law, it is no longer dependent on the word of God; but God gave it to Abraham by his word.

19 ¿Qué es la ley? Fue una adición hecha por el pecado, hasta la llegada de la simiente a quien se le había dado la promesa; y fue ordenado a través de los ángeles por la mano de un intermediario.

What then is the law? It was an addition made because of sin, till the coming of the seed to whom the undertaking had been given; and it was ordered through angels by the hand of a go-between.

20 Ahora bien, un intermediario no es intermediario de uno; pero Dios es uno.

Now a go-between is not a go-between of one; but God is one.

21 ¿Es la ley entonces contra las palabras de Dios? de ninguna manera; porque si hubiera habido una ley que pudiera dar vida, la justicia habría sido realmente por la ley.

Is the law then against the words of God? in no way; because if there had been a law which was able to give life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.

22 Sin embargo, las Sagradas Escrituras dicen que todos son prisioneros del pecado, para que aquellos por los que Dios dio la promesa, basado en la fe en Jesucristo, se le pueda dar a aquellos que tienen tal fe.

However, the holy Writings have put all things under sin, so that that for which God gave the undertaking, based on faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who have such faith.

23 Pero antes que viniera la fe, fuimos prisioneros bajo la ley, esperando la revelación de la fe que había de venir.

But before faith came, we were kept in prison under the law, waiting for the revelation of the faith which was to come.

24 Así que la ley ha sido nuestra guía; nuestro tutor, para llevarnos a Cristo, para que seamos justificados por la fe.

So the law has been a servant to take us to Christ, so that we might have righteousness by faith.

25 Pero ahora que ha llegado la fe, ya no estamos bajo un siervo.

But now that faith is come, we are no longer under a servant.

26 Porque todos ustedes son hijos de Dios por la fe en Cristo Jesús.

Because you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

27 Porque todos los que recibieron el bautismo en Cristo se vistieron de Cristo.

For all those of you who were given baptism into Christ did put on Christ.

28 No hay judío o griego, siervo o libre, hombre o mujer: porque todos ustedes son uno en Jesucristo.

There is no Jew or Greek, servant or free, male or female: because you are all one in Jesus Christ.

29 Y si ustedes son de Cristo, entonces ustedes son la simiente de Abraham, y herederos por el derecho de la promesa de Dios dada a Abraham.

And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and yours is the heritage by the right of God's undertaking given to Abraham.
