Esdras 7
1 Después de estas cosas, cuando Artajerjes era rey de Persia, Esdras, hijo de Seraías, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Hilcías,
And after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king of Persia, Ezra the son of Serayah, the son of 'Azaryah, the son of Chilkiyah,
2 El hijo de Salum, el hijo de Sadoc, el hijo de Ahitob.
The son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Achitub,
3 El hijo de Amarías, el hijo de Azarías, el hijo de Meraiot,
The son of Amaryah, the son of 'Azaryah, the son of Merayoth,
4 El hijo de Seraías, el hijo de Uzi, el hijo de Buqui,
The son of Zerachyah, the son of 'Uzzi, the son of Bukki,
5 El hijo de Abisúa, el hijo de Finees, el hijo de Eleazar, el hijo de Aarón, el principal sacerdote.
The son of Abishua', the son of Phinehas, the son of Elazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest:
6 Este Esdras subió de Babilonia; y era un escriba, experto en la ley de Moisés que el Señor, el Dios de Israel, había dado; y el rey, movido por el Señor su Dios, le dio todo lo que pidió.
This 'Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a practised expounder in the law of Moses, which the Lord the God of Israel hath given; and the king gave him, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him, all his request.
7 Y subieron algunos de los hijos de Israel, con algunos de los sacerdotes y los levitas y los cantores y los encargados de las puertas y los sirvientes del templo, a Jerusalén, en el séptimo año del rey Artajerjes.
And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the gate-keepers, and the temple-servants, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of king Artaxerxes.
8 Y vino a Jerusalén en el quinto mes, en el séptimo año del gobierno del rey.
And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.
9 Comenzando su viaje desde Babilonia el primer día del primer mes, llegó a Jerusalén el primer día del quinto mes, con la ayuda de su Dios.
For on the first day of the first month was the commencement of the expedition from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.
10 Porque Esdras se había preocupado de aprender la ley del Señor y de hacerlo, y de enseñar sus reglas y decisiones en Israel.
For 'Ezra had directed his heart to inquire in the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and ordinances.
11 Ahora, esta es una copia de la carta que el rey Artajerjes le dio a Esdras, sacerdote y escriba, quien escribió las palabras de las órdenes del Señor y sus reglas para Israel:
Now this is the copy of the letter which king Artaxerxes gave unto 'Ezra the priest, the expounder of the law, the expounder of the words of the commandments of the Lord, and of his statutes for Israel.
12 Artajerjes, rey de los reyes, a Esdras el sacerdote, escriba de la ley del Dios del cielo, toda paz;
Artaxerxes, the king of kings, unto 'Ezra the priest, the expounder of the law of the God of heaven, the perfect, and so forth.
13 Y ahora es mi orden que todos los del pueblo de Israel, y sus sacerdotes y levitas en mi reino, que están listos y desean ir a Jerusalén, vayan con ustedes.
By me is the order given, that every one who is freely willing in my kingdom out of the people of Israel, and their priests and Levites, to go up to Jerusalem, may go up with thee:
14 Porque eres enviado por el rey y sus siete reyes consejeros, para conocer a Judá y a Jerusalén, como lo ordena la ley de tu Dios que está en tu mano;
Forasmuch as thou art sent on the part of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to make inquiry concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thy hand;
15 Y para llevar con usted la plata y el oro ofrecidos libremente por el rey y sus sabios al Dios de Israel, cuyo Templo está en Jerusalén,
And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem.
16 Así como toda la plata y el oro que obtienes de la tierra de Babilonia, junto con la ofrenda del pueblo y de los sacerdotes, entregados gratuitamente para la casa de su Dios, que está en Jerusalén:
And all [freewill offerings of] silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offerings which the people and the priests offer willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem.
17 Con este dinero, compren los bueyes, ovejas y corderos, con sus ofrendas de cereales y sus ofrendas de bebidas, para ser ofrecidos en el altar del templo de su Dios, que está en Jerusalén.
Therefore mayest thou buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat-offerings and their drink-offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.
18 Y todo lo que les parezca bien a ti y a tus hermanos hacer con el resto de la plata y el oro, eso es conforme a la voluntad de su Dios.
And whatsoever shall seem good to thee, and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do according to the will of your God.
19 Y las vasijas que te han sido dadas para los usos del templo de tu Dios, debes entregarlas al Dios de Jerusalén.
And the vessels which have been given unto thee for the service of the house of thy God, deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem.
20 Y lo que sea necesario para la casa de tu Dios, y que tengas que dar, tómalo del almacén del rey.
And the remainder that will yet be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to procure, procure out of the King's treasure-house.
21 Y yo, también, el rey Artajerjes, ahora doy órdenes a todos los guardianes del dinero del rey al oeste del río, para que todo lo que él sacerdote Esdras necesite, el escriba de la ley del Dios del cielo, se lo den, debe ser hecho prestamente,
And by me, me King Artaxerxes, is the order given unto all the treasurers who are beyond the river, that whatsoever 'Ezra the priest, the expounder of the law of the God of heaven, may demand of you, shall be done speedily.
22 Hasta cien talentos de plata, cien medidas de grano, cien medidas de vino y cien medidas de aceite y sal sin medida.
Up to one hundred talents of silver, and up to one hundred cors of wheat, and up to one hundred baths of wine, and up to one hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing it.
23 Lo que sea ordenado por el Dios del cielo, hágase rápidamente por la casa del Dios del cielo; para que no haya ira contra el reino del rey y sus hijos.
Whatsoever is ordered by the God of heaven shall be carefully done for the house of the God of heaven; for why should there be wrath against the kingdom of the king and his sons?
24 Además, le dejamos en claro que será ilegal poner impuestos o pagos en bienes o pagos forzosos a cualquiera de los sacerdotes o levitas, los cantores, los porteros, los sirvientes del templo o Cualquier siervo de esta casa de Dios.
And to you make we it known, that on any of the priests and Levites, singers, gate-keepers, and temple-servants, or ministers of this house of God, no one shall be empowered to impose any tax, tribute, or toll.
25 Y tú, Esdras, por la sabiduría de tu Dios que está en ti, debes poner a los gobernantes y jueces para que tengan autoridad sobre todas las personas a oeste del río que tienen conocimiento de las leyes de tu Dios; y tú debes dar enseñanza a quien no tiene conocimiento de ellos.
And thou, 'Ezra, according to the wisdom of thy God which is in thy hand, appoint judges and magistrates, who are to judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and make ye them known to those that know them not.
26 Y si alguien no cumple la ley de tu Dios y la ley del rey, tenga cuidado de que se le aplique un castigo, ya sea por muerte o destierro de su país o quitándole sus bienes o poniéndolo en prisión.
And if there be any one who will not execute the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let justice be speedily executed upon him, whether it be unto death or to banishment, or to a fine on goods, or to imprisonment.
27 Alabado sea el Señor, el Dios de nuestros padres, que ha puesto tal cosa en el corazón del rey, para reparar el templo del Señor que está en Jerusalén;
Blessed be the Lord the God of our fathers, who hath put the like of this in the heart of the king, to glorify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem;
28 Y me ha dado misericordia ante el rey y su gobierno y ante todos los grandes capitanes del rey. Y fui fortalecido por la mano del Señor mi Dios que estaba sobre mí, y reuní a los principales hombres de Israel para que subieran conmigo.
And who hath extended kindness unto me before the king and his counsellors, and before all the mighty princes of the king: and I strengthened myself according to the hand of the Lord my God upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel principal men to go up with me.
