Esdras 5
1 Ahora bien, los profetas Hageo y Zacarías, el hijo de Ido, comunicaba él mensaje a los judíos en Judá y en Jerusalén en nombre del Dios de Israel.
Then Haggai a Prophet and Zechariah the sonne of Iddo a Prophet prophecied vnto the Iewes that were in Iudah, and Ierusalem, in the name of the God of Israel, euen vnto them.
2 Entonces Zorobabel, el hijo de Salatiel, y Josué, el hijo de Josadac, se levantaron e iniciaron la construcción de la casa de Dios en Jerusalén: y los profetas de Dios estaban con ellos, ayudándoles.
Then Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel, and Ieshua the sonne of Iozadak arose, and began to builde the house of God at Ierusalem, and with them were the Prophetes of God, which helped them.
3 Al mismo tiempo, Tatnai, gobernante de la tierra al oeste del río, y Setar-boznai, y sus hombres, se acercaron a ellos y les dijeron: ¿Quién te ordenó seguir restaurando el templo y este muro?
At the same time came to them Tatnai, which was captaine beyonde the Riuer, and Shether-boznai and their companions, and sayd thus vnto them, Who hath giuen you commandement to buylde this house, and to lay the foundations of these walles?
4 Entonces les dijeron estas palabras: ¿Cuáles son los nombres de los hombres que están trabajando en este edificio?
Then sayde we vnto them after this maner, What are the names of the men that buylde this buylding?
5 Pero el ojo de su Dios estaba sobre los jefes de los judíos, y no hicieron que dejaran de trabajar hasta que la pregunta se había presentado ante Darío y se había recibido una respuesta por carta.
But the eye of their God was vpon the Elders of the Iewes, that they coulde not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they answered by letters thereunto.
6 Esta es una copia de la carta que Tatnai, el gobernante de la tierra al oeste del río, y Setar-boznai y sus amigos Apharsachites, que viven al otro lado del río, enviaron al rey Darío.
The copie of the letter, that Tatnai captaine beyond the Riuer, and Shether-boznai and his companions, Apharsechaie, (which were beyond the Riuer) sent vnto King Darius.
7 Le enviaron una carta diciendo: Al rey Darío, toda la paz:
They sent a letter vnto him, wherein it was written thus, VNTO DARIVS the king, all peace.
8 Esto es para decir al rey que fuimos a la tierra de Judá, a la casa del gran Dios, que está hecha de grandes piedras y tiene sus muros con madera, y el trabajo continúa pues trabajan aprisa, y lo están haciendo bien.
Be it knowen vnto the King, that we went into the prouince of Iudea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and beames are layde in the walles, and this worke is wrought speedily, and prospereth in their hands.
9 Entonces preguntamos a los hombres responsables, ¿quién les dio autoridad para la reconstrucción de esta casa y estas paredes?
Then asked we those Elders, and sayd vnto them thus, Who hath giuen you commandement to buylde this house, and to lay the foundation of these walles?
10 Y les pedimos sus nombres, para certificar y comunicarle a su majestad los nombres de los hombres a la cabeza de ellos.
We asked their names also, that we might certifie thee, and that we might write the names of the men that were their rulers.
11 Y nos respondieron, diciendo: Somos siervos del Dios del cielo y de la tierra, y estamos construyendo la casa que fue construida en tiempos pasados y que fue diseñada y completada por un gran rey de Israel.
But they answered vs thus, and sayd, We are the seruants of the God of heauen and earth, and buylde the house that was buylt of olde and many yeeres ago, which a great King of Israel builded, and founded it.
12 Pero cuando el Dios del cielo fue provocado a la ira por nuestros antepasados, los entregó en manos de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, el caldeo, que envió destrucción a este templo y se llevó a la gente a Babilonia.
But after that our fathers had prouoked the God of heauen vnto wrath, he gaue them ouer into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar King of Babel the Caldean, and he destroyed this house, and caryed the people away captiue vnto Babel.
13 Pero en el primer año de Ciro, rey de Babilonia, el rey Ciro dio una orden para la construcción de este templo de Dios;
But in the first yere of Cyrus King of Babel, King Cyrus made a decree to buylde this house of God.
14 Y los vasos de oro y plata de la casa de Dios, que Nabucodonosor tomó del Templo que estaba en Jerusalén, y los pusieron en la casa de su dios en Babilonia, estos, Ciro el rey tomó de la casa de su dios en Babilonia, y se los entregó a uno llamado Sesbasar, a quien había hecho gobernante;
And the vessels of golde and siluer of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar tooke out of the Temple, that was in Ierusalem, and brought them into the Temple of Babel, those did Cyrus the king take out of the Temple of Babel, and they gaue them vnto one Sheshbazzar by his name, whome he had made captaine.
15 Y él le dijo: Ve, toma estos vasos y ponlos en el templo en Jerusalén, y él templo de Dios vuelva a ser puesta en su lugar.
And he sayde vnto him, Take these vessels and goe thy way, and put them in the Temple that is in Ierusalem, and let the house of God be buylt in his place.
16 Entonces este mismo Sesbasar vino y puso el templo de Dios en Jerusalén en sus fundamentos: y desde ese momento hasta ahora el edificio ha estado en marcha, pero todavía no está completo.
Then came the same Sheshbazzar and layde the foundation of the house of God, which is in Ierusalem, and since that time euen vntill nowe, hath it bene in buylding, yet is it not finished.
17 Entonces, si le parece bien al rey, hagamos una búsqueda en los archivos del rey en Babilonia, para ver si es cierto que el rey Ciro dio una orden para la reconstrucción de este templo de Dios en Jerusalén, y que el rey nos envíe un mensaje de su decisión en relación con este asunto.
Nowe therefore if it please the King, let there be searche made in the house of the Kings treasures, which is there in Babel, whether a decree hath bene made by King Cyrus, to build this house of God in Ierusalem, and let the King send his minde concerning this.
