Ezequiel 14
1 Entonces algunos de los hombres responsables de Israel vinieron a mí y tomaron sus asientos delante de mí.
One day some of the elders of Israel came to me and sat down in front of me.
2 Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor, diciendo:
Then Yahweh gave me this message:
3 Hijo de hombre, estos hombres han llevado a sus falsos dioses a sus corazones y han puesto ante sus rostros el pecado que es la causa de su caída: ¿voy a escuchar cuando vengan a mí en busca de instrucciones?
“You human, these men want to [IDM] worship idols, and they are allowing idols to induce them to sin [IDM]. So I will certainly [RHQ] answer them if they ask me for advice.
4 Por esto, díles: Estas son las palabras del Señor Dios: Todo hombre de Israel que ha tomado a su falso dios en su corazón, y ha puesto ante su rostro el pecado que es la causa de su caída, y viene al profeta Yo, el Señor, le daré una respuesta de acuerdo con el número de sus falsos dioses.
So say this to them: ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says: When any Israeli person wants to worship idols which will induce him to sin, and he goes to a [to get advice], I, Yahweh, will give him the answer that he deserves to receive because he worship idols.
5 Con el propósito de alcanzar a los hijos de Israel en sus corazones, porque se han desviado de mí a través de sus falsos dioses.
[I will do that] in order that the Israeli people, who have abandoned me in order to worship their idols, will sincerely [IDM] worship me again.’
6 Por esta causa, di a los hijos de Israel: Estas son las palabras del Señor Dios: regresa y abandona a tus dioses falsos y deja que tus rostros se desvíen de tus cosas repugnantes.
Therefore, say to the Israeli people, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says: (Repent/Stop sinning)! Stop worshiping your idols, and stop all your [other] detestable behavior!’
7 Cuando cualquiera de los hombres de Israel, o de aquellos de otras tierras que viven en Israel, se aparta de mí y lleva a sus falsos dioses a su corazón, y pone ante su rostro el pecado que es la causa de su caída, luego viene al profeta para que le dé instrucciones; Yo el Señor le daré una respuesta por mí mismo:
When any of [you] Israeli people or any foreigner living among you turns away from me and starts worshiping idols [IDM] that induce him to sin, and then goes to a prophet to find out what I want him to do, I myself will answer him.
8 Y mi rostro se volverá contra ese hombre, y le haré una señal y proverbio, separándolo de entre mi pueblo; y sabrán que yo soy el Señor.
I will show that I detest him, and [what happens to] him to be a warning [to others], and cause him to be someone whom people despise. I will cause him to no longer be allowed to associate with my people. Then you will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].
9 Y si el profeta, engañado por el engaño, dice algo, soy yo el Señor por quien ha sido engañado, y extiendo mi mano contra él, y él será separado de entre mi pueblo Israel.
And if a prophet is deceived and gives a false prophecy, [even though] I [allowed him to] give that message, I will get rid of him and remove him from among my Israeli people.
10 Y el castigo de su pecado estará sobre ellos: el pecado del profeta será el mismo que el pecado del que va a él por consulta;
Both the prophet and the one who asks him for advice will be guilty, [and I will punish both of them].
11 Para que los hijos de Israel ya no se alejen de mí, o se vuelvan impuros con todas sus malas acciones; pero ellos serán mi pueblo, y yo seré su Dios, dice el Señor Dios.
Then you Israeli people will no longer abandon me, and you will no longer become unacceptable to me because of your sins. You will be my people, and I will be your God. [That is what I], Yahweh the Lord, say.”
12 Entonces vino a mí la palabra del Señor, diciendo:
Yahweh gave me another message. [He said],
13 Hijo de hombre, cuando una tierra que peca contra mí, hace mal, y mi mano se extiende contra ella, y se rompe el sostén de su pan, y no le daré provisión de alimento, cortando al hombre y la bestia de ella.
“You human, [the people of some] country sin against me by abandoning me, and I punish [IDM] them by cutting off their food supply and by sending a famine, with the result that people and animals die,
14 Aun si estos tres hombres, Noé, Daniel y Job estuvieran en esto, solo ellos mismos se mantendrían a salvo por su justicia, dice el Señor Dios.
even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were there, they would save only themselves because of their being righteous. [That is what I], Yahweh the Lord, declare.
15 O si envío bestias malvadas a través de la tierra causando destrucción y desolación, para que ningún hombre pueda pasar a causa de las bestias.
Or, if I send wild animals throughout the country, and they attack and [many of] [HYP] the people, with the result that travel in that country becomes very dangerous and no one travels through that country,
16 Incluso si estos tres hombres estuvieran en ella, según mi vida, dice el Señor Dios, no mantendrían a salvo a sus hijos o hijas, sino sólo a sí mismos, y la tierra se convertiría en un desierto.
[as surely] as I am alive, even if those three men were in that country, they could not save [even their own] sons or [from being killed]. Only those [three] would (be saved/remain alive), and the country would become desolate. [That is what I], Yahweh the Lord, declare.
17 O si envío una espada contra esa tierra y digo: Espada, recorre la tierra, cortando de ella el hombre y la bestia:
Or, if I bring enemy soldiers [MTY] to attack that country, and they kill [MTY] people and animals throughout that country with their swords,
18 Incluso si estos tres hombres estuvieran en ella, según mi vida, dice el Señor Dios, no mantendrían a salvo a sus hijos o hijas, sino a sí mismos.
as surely as I am alive, even if those three men were in that country, they would not be able to save even their own sons or [from being killed]. They would save only themselves. That is what I, Yahweh the Lord, declare.
19 O si envío enfermedad a esa tierra, suelto mi ira sobre ella con sangre, cortando de ella al hombre y la bestia:
Or, if I send a plague into that land and cause the people and the animals to [from the plague] because I am very angry with those people,
20 Aunque Noe, Daniel y Job estuvieran en ella, por mi vida, dice el Señor, no mantendrían a salvo a su hijo o hija; solo ellos mismos se mantendrían a través de su justicia.
[as surely] as I am alive, even if Noah, Daniel and Job were in that country, they would not [be able to] save even their sons and daughters. They would save only themselves because of their being righteous. [That is what I], Yahweh the Lord, declare.
21 Porque esto es lo que ha dicho el Señor: ¿Cuánto más cuando envío mis cuatro castigos amargos a Jerusalén, la espada, hambre y bestias malvadas y enfermedades, exterminando al hombre y la bestia?
So [now] this is what [I, ], Yahweh the Lord, say: I will cause four things to happen to [the people of] Jerusalem to punish them very severely. [Some] people and animals will be killed by swords, [some will die from] famines, [others will be attacked and killed by] wild animals, and [others will die in] plagues.
22 Pero en verdad, todavía habrá un remanente que estará a salvo, incluso los hijos y las hijas; y saldrán a ti, y verás sus caminos y sus acciones y serás consolado por el mal que he enviado a Jerusalén, incluso sobre todo lo que he enviado en ella.
But some [of your people] will remain alive, [both adults] and children. They will come to you, [Ezekiel, in Babylon]. And when you see [disgusting] behavior and actions, you will realize that I had good reasons for causing [the people of] Jerusalem to experience those many great disasters [DOU] that I have sent to them.
23 Te darán consuelo cuando veas sus caminos y sus obras, y sabrán que no por nada he hecho todas las cosas que he hecho en ella, dice el Señor.
When you see those things that they do, you will know that there were very good reasons [LIT] for me to do everything that I caused to happen to them. [That is what I], Yahweh the Lord, declare.”
