Éxodo 32
1 Y cuando el pueblo vio que Moisés se tardaba en bajar del monte por mucho tiempo, todos se acercaron a Aarón y le dijeron: Ven, haznos dioses para ir delante de nosotros; en cuanto a Moisés, que nos sacó de la montaña. la tierra de Egipto, no tenemos idea de qué ha sido de él.
And the people see that Moses is delaying to come down from the mountain, and the people assemble against Aaron, and say to him, “Rise, make gods for us, who go before us, for this Moses—the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt—we have not known what has happened to him.”
2 Entonces Aarón les dijo: Quiten los anillos de oro que están en los oídos de sus mujeres, sus hijos y sus hijas, y traiganlos a mí.
And Aaron says to them, “Break off the rings of gold which [are] in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring [them] to me”;
3 Y todo el pueblo tomó los anillos de oro de sus orejas y se los dio a Aarón.
and all the people break off the rings of gold which [are] in their ears, and bring [them] to Aaron,
4 Y él tomó el oro de ellos y, martillándolo con un cincel, lo hizo en la imagen de metal de un becerro: y ellos dijeron: estos son tus dioses, oh Israel, que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto.
and he receives [it] from their hand, and fashions it with an engraving tool, and makes it [into] a molten calf, and they say, “These [are] your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”
5 Y cuando Aarón vio esto, hizo un altar delante de él, e hizo una declaración pública, diciendo: Mañana habrá una fiesta para el Señor.
And Aaron sees, and builds an altar before it, and Aaron calls, and says, “A festival to YHWH—tomorrow”;
6 Así que el día después de levantarse hicieron ofrendas quemadas y ofrendas de paz; y tomaron sus asientos en la fiesta, y luego se levantaron a divertirse.
and they rise early on the next day, and cause burnt-offerings to ascend, and bring peace-offerings near; and the people sit down to eat and to drink, and rise up to play.
7 Y él Señor dijo a Moisés: Anda, baja; porque tu pueblo, que sacaste de la tierra de Egipto, se ha corrompido;
And YHWH says to Moses, “Go, descend, for your people whom you have brought up out of the land of Egypt have done corruptly,
8 Aún ahora se han apartado de la regla que les di, y se han hecho un becerro de metal y le han dado ofrendas y adorado, diciendo: Este es tu dios, oh Israel, que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto.
they have quickly turned aside from the way that I have commanded them; they have made a molten calf for themselves, and bow themselves to it, and sacrifice to it, and say, These [are] your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”
9 Y el Señor le dijo a Moisés: He estado observando a este pueblo, y veo que son personas de dura cerviz.
And YHWH says to Moses, “I have seen this people, and behold, it [is] a stiff-necked people;
10 Ahora no te metas en mi camino, porque mi ira está ardiendo contra ellos; Enviaré destrucción sobre ellos, pero de ti haré una gran nación.
and now, leave Me alone, and My anger burns against them, and I consume them, and I make you become a great nation.”
11 Pero Moisés oró a Dios, diciendo: Señor, ¿por qué arde tu ira contra tu pueblo, a quien sacaste de la tierra de Egipto, con gran poder y con la fuerza de tu mano?
And Moses appeases the face of his God YHWH and says, “Why, O YHWH, does Your anger burn against Your people, whom You have brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a strong hand?
12 ¿Por qué han de decir los egipcios: los llevó a un destino malo, para matarlos en los montes, y los quitó de la tierra? Deja que tu ira se aleje de ellos, y no envíes este mal a tu pueblo.
Why do the Egyptians speak, saying, He brought them out in calamity to slay them among mountains, and to consume them from off the face of the ground? Turn back from the heat of Your anger, and relent from this calamity against Your people.
13 Ten en cuenta a Abraham, Isaac e Israel, tus siervos a quienes juraste, diciendo: Haré tu descendencia como las estrellas del cielo en número, y toda esta tierra daré a tu descendencia, como dije, será su herencia para siempre.
Be mindful of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, Your servants, to whom You have sworn by Yourself, and to whom You speak: I multiply your seed as stars of the heavens, and all this land, as I have said, I give to your seed, and they have inherited [it] for all time”;
14 Así que el Señor se dejó apartar de su propósito de castigar a su pueblo.
and YHWH relents from the evil which He has spoken of doing to His people.
15 Entonces Moisés descendió del monte con las dos piedras de la ley en su mano; las piedras tenían escritura en sus dos lados, en el frente y en la parte posterior.
And Moses turns, and goes down from the mountain, and the two tablets of the Testimony [are] in his hand, tablets written on both their sides; they [are] written on this [side] and on that [side];
16 Las piedras eran obra de Dios, y la escritura era la escritura de Dios, cortada sobre las piedras.
and the tablets are the work of God, and the writing is the writing of God, engraved on the tablets.
17 Y cuando el ruido y las voces del pueblo llegaron a oídos de Josué, él dijo a Moisés: Hay ruido de guerra en las tiendas.
And Joshua hears the voice of the people in their shouting and says to Moses, “A noise of battle in the camp!”
18 Y dijo Moisés: No es la voz de los hombres que vencieron en la batalla, ni el clamor de los que han sido vencidos; es el sonido de las canciones lo que llega a mi oído.
And he says, “It is not the voice of the crying of might, nor is it the voice of the crying of weakness—I am hearing a voice of singing.”
19 Y cuando llegó cerca de las tiendas, vio la imagen del buey y la gente bailando; y en su ira Moisés liberó las piedras de sus manos, y se rompieron al pie del monte.
And it comes to pass, when he has drawn near to the camp, that he sees the calf, and the dancing, and the anger of Moses burns, and he casts the tablets out of his hands, and breaks them below the mountain;
20 Y tomó el becerro que habían hecho, y lo quemó en el fuego, y lo molió hasta convertirlo en polvo, y lo puso en el agua, e hizo que bebieran de él los hijos de Israel.
and he takes the calf which they have made, and burns [it] with fire, and grinds [it] until [it is] small, and scatters [it] on the face of the waters, and causes the sons of Israel to drink.
21 Y Moisés dijo a Aarón: ¿Qué te hizo el pueblo para que permitas que este gran pecado les sobrevenga?
And Moses says to Aaron, “What has this people done to you, that you have brought in a great sin on it?”
22 Y dijo Aarón: No se enoje mi señor; has visto cómo los propósitos de este pueblo son malvados.
And Aaron says, “Do not let the anger of my lord burn; you have known the people, that it [is beset] with evil;
23 Porque me dijeron: Haznos un dios para ir delante de nosotros; en cuanto a este Moisés, que nos sacó de la tierra de Egipto, no tenemos idea de lo que le ha sucedido.
and they say to me, Make gods for us, who go before us, for this Moses—the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt—we have not known what has happened to him;
24 Entonces les dije: El que tenga oro, que se lo quite; así que me lo dieron, y lo puse en el fuego, y salió esta imagen de un becerro.
and I say to them, Whoever has gold, let them break [it] off, and they give [it] to me, and I cast it into the fire, and this calf comes out.”
25 Y vio Moisés que el pueblo estaba fuera de control, porque Aarón los había soltado para vergüenza de ellos entre sus enemigos.
And Moses sees the people, that it [is] unbridled, for Aaron has made it unbridled for contempt among its withstanders,
26 Entonces Moisés tomó su lugar en el camino de las tiendas, y dijo: Cualquiera que esté del lado del Señor, que venga a mí. Y todos los hijos de Leví se juntaron a él.
and Moses stands in the gate of the camp and says, “Who [is] for YHWH? [Come] to me!” And all the sons of Levi are gathered to him;
27 Y él les dijo: Esta es la palabra de él Señor Dios de Israel: cada uno tome su espada a su lado, y vaya de un extremo de las tiendas al otro, dando muerte a su hermano y a su amigo y su vecino.
and he says to them, “Thus said YHWH, God of Israel: Each put his sword by his thigh, pass over and turn back from gate to gate through the camp, and each slay his brother, and each his friend, and each his relation.”
28 Y los hijos de Leví hicieron como Moisés dijo; y aproximadamente tres mil personas fueron ejecutadas ese día.
And the sons of Levi do according to the word of Moses, and there falls of the people on that day about three thousand men,
29 Y dijo Moisés: Hoy se han consagrado sacerdotes del Señor; porque cada uno de ustedes se ha opuesto unos a su hijo otros a su hermano; la bendición del Señor está sobre ustedes este día.
and Moses says, “Consecrate your hand to YHWH today, for a man [is] against his son, and against his brother, so as to bring a blessing on you today.”
30 Y al día siguiente, Moisés dijo al pueblo: Grande ha sido tu pecado; pero subiré al Señor y veré si puedo obtener el perdón por tu pecado.
And it comes to pass, on the next day, that Moses says to the people, “You have sinned a great sin, and now I go up to YHWH, perhaps I can atone for your sin.”
31 Entonces Moisés regresó al Señor y dijo: Este pueblo ha hecho un gran pecado, haciéndose un dios de oro;
And Moses turns back to YHWH and says, “Ah, now this people has sinned a great sin, that they make a god of gold for themselves;
32 Pero ahora, si les das perdón, pero si no, deja que mi nombre sea borrado de tu libro.
and now, if You take away their sin—and if not—please blot me out of Your scroll which You have written.”
33 Y él Señor dijo a Moisés: Cualquiera que hiciere mal contra mí, será borrado de mi libro.
And YHWH says to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against Me—I blot him out of My scroll;
34 Pero ahora, ve, lleva a la gente a ese lugar del que te he dado palabra; mira, mi ángel irá delante de ti; pero cuando venga el tiempo de mi juicio, les enviaré castigo por su pecado.
and now, go, lead the people wherever I have spoken to you of; behold, My Messenger goes before you, and in the day of my charging—then I have charged their sin on them.”
35 Y él Señor castigó al pueblo porque adoraron al becerro que Aarón había hecho.
And YHWH plagues the people because they made the calf which Aaron made.
