Éxodo 22
1 Si un hombre toma sin derecho el buey de otro hombre o sus ovejas, y lo mata o lo vende, él dará cinco bueyes por un buey, o cuatro ovejas por oveja.
If a man steale an oxe or a sheepe, and kill it or sell it, he shall restore fiue oxen for the oxe, and foure sheepe for the sheepe.
2 Si un ladrón es tomado en el acto de ingresar a una casa, y su muerte es causada por un golpe, el dueño de la casa no es responsable de su sangre.
If a thiefe bee founde breaking vp, and be smitten that he dye, no blood shall be shed for him.
3 Pero si es después del amanecer, él será el responsable. Él que robó tendrá que restituir lo que se robó, y si no tiene con qué pagar; él mismo será vendido para pagar lo robado.
But if it be in the day light, blood shall be shed for him: for he should make full restitution: if he had not wherewith, then shoulde he bee solde for his theft.
4 Si todavía tiene lo que había tomado, sea lo que sea, buey o asno u oveja, debe dar el doble de su valor.
If the theft bee founde with him, aliue, (whether it be oxe, asse, or sheepe) he shall restore the double.
5 Si un hombre permite que sus animales pasten en un campo o en un huerto de vid, y sus animales dañan el campo de otro hombre, debe dar lo mejor de su campo o su huerta para compensarlo.
If a man doe hurt fielde, or vineyarde, and put in his beast to feed in an other mans fielde, he shall recompence of the best of his owne fielde, and of the best of his owne vineyard.
6 Si hay un fuego y las llamas llegan a las espinas en el borde del campo, causando la destrucción del grano cortado o del grano vivo, o del campo, el que hizo el fuego tendrá que compensar el daño.
If fire breake out, and catche in ye thornes, and the stackes of corne, or the standing corne, or the fielde be consumed, he that kindled the fire shall make full restitution.
7 Si un hombre pone dinero o bienes al cuidado de su prójimo para que los guarde, y se los roban de la casa del hombre, si atrapan al ladrón, tendrá que pagar el doble del valor.
If a man deliuer his neighbour money or stuffe to keepe, and it be stollen out of his house, if the thiefe be found, he shall pay the double.
8 Si no atraparon al ladrón, el dueño de la casa vendrá ante los jueces y prestará juramento de que no ha puesto la mano sobre los bienes de su prójimo.
If the thiefe be not founde, then the master of the house shalbe brought vnto the Iudges to sweare, whether he hath put his hande vnto his neighbours good, or no.
9 En cualquier pregunta acerca de un buey o un asno o una oveja o ropa, o acerca de la pérdida de cualquier propiedad que cualquiera diga que es suya, permitan que las dos partes pongan su causa delante de los jueces; y el que resulte culpable ese hace el pago a su vecino del doble del valor.
In all maner of trespasse, whether it bee for oxen, for asse, for sheepe, for raiment, or for any maner of lost thing, which an other chalengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the iudges, and whom the Iudges condemne, he shall pay the double vnto his neighbour.
10 Si un hombre pone un asno, un buey, una oveja o una bestia en custodia de su prójimo, y llega a la muerte o es dañado o se lo llevan, sin que nadie lo vea:
If a man deliuer vnto his neighbour to keepe asse, or oxe, or sheepe, or any beast, and it die, or be hurt, or taken away by enemies, and no man see it,
11 Si hace su juramento delante del Señor, que no ha puesto su mano en los bienes de su prójimo, el dueño debe cumplir su palabra y no tendrá que pagar por ello.
An othe of the Lord shalbe betweene the twaine, that hee hath not put his hande vnto his neighbours good, and the owner of it shall take the othe, and he shall not make it good:
12 Pero si se lo quita un ladrón, debe compensar la pérdida de él con su dueño.
But if it be stollen from him, he shall make restitution vnto the owner thereof.
13 Pero si ha sido dañado por una bestia, y él puede aclarar esto, no tendrá que pagar por lo que fue dañado.
If it be torne in pieces, he shall bring recorde, and shall not make that good, which is deuoured.
14 Si un hombre obtiene de su vecino el uso de una de sus bestias, y se daña o muere cuando el propietario no está con ella, sin duda tendrá que pagar por la pérdida.
And if a man borow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or els die, the owner thereof not being by, he shall surely make it good.
15 Si el propietario estaba presente, no tendrá que hacer el pago: si dio dinero por el uso de la misma, la pérdida está cubierta por el pago.
If the owner thereof bee by, hee shall not make it good: for if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.
16 Si un hombre toma una virgen, que no le ha dado su palabra a otro hombre, y tiene relaciones con ella, él tendrá que dar un precio de la novia para que ella sea su esposa.
And if a man entise a maide that is not betrothed, and lie with her, hee shall endowe her, and take her to his wife.
17 Si su padre no se la entrega a él como esposa, tendrá que dar el pago regular para las vírgenes.
If her father refuse to giue her to him, hee shall pay money, according to ye dowry of virgins.
18 Cualquier mujer hechicera será ejecutada.
Thou shalt not suffer a witch to liue.
19 Todo hombre que tenga relaciones sexuales con una bestia será condenado a muerte.
Whosoeuer lieth with a beast, shall dye the death.
20 La destrucción total vendrá sobre cualquier hombre que haga ofrendas a cualquier otro dios que no sea el Señor.
Hee that offereth vnto any gods, saue vnto the Lord onely, shalbe slaine.
21 No hagas mal a un hombre de un país extraño, y no seas duro con él; porque ustedes mismos estaban viviendo en un país extraño, en la tierra de Egipto.
Moreouer, thou shalt not do iniurie to a stranger, neither oppresse him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
22 No le hagas mal a una viuda, ni a un niño huérfano.
Ye shall not trouble any widowe, nor fatherlesse childe.
23 Si eres cruel con ellos de alguna manera, y su clamor viene a mí, ciertamente voy a prestar oído;
If thou vexe or trouble such, and so he call and cry vnto me, I will surely heare his cry.
24 En el calor de mi ira te mataré a espada, y tus esposas serán viudas y tus hijos huérfanos.
Then shall my wrath be kindled, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wiues shall be widowes, and your children fatherlesse.
25 Si permites que cualquiera de los pobres entre mi gente use tu dinero, no seas un acreedor duro para él y no le impondrás intereses.
If thou lende money to my people, that is, to the poore with thee, thou shalt not bee as an vsurer vnto him: yee shall not oppresse him with vsurie.
26 Si esa persona te da su ropa como garantía, se la devolverás antes de que se ponga el sol:
If thou take thy neighbours rayment to pledge, thou shalt restore it vnto him before the sunne go downe:
27 Porque es lo único que tiene para cubrir su piel; ¿en qué se va a dormir? y cuando su clamor llegue a mí, lo escucharé, porque mi misericordia es grande.
For that is his couering only, and this is his garment for his skin: wherin shall he sleepe? therefore when he crieth vnto mee, I will heare him: for I am mercifull.
28 No puedes decir mal de los jueces, ni maldecir al gobernante de tu pueblo.
Thou shalt not raile vpon the Iudges, neither speake euil of the ruler of thy people.
29 No tardes de traer tus ofrendas de la riqueza de tu grano y tus viñedos. El primero de tus hijos debes darme.
Thine abundance and thy licour shalt thou not keepe backe. The first borne of thy sonnes shalt thou giue me.
30 De la misma manera con tus bueyes y tus ovejas: durante siete días estará con su madre; en el octavo día dámelo.
Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen and with thy sheepe: seuen dayes it shall bee with his damme, and the eight day thou shalt giue it me.
31 Serán para mí hombres santos; la carne de ningún animal, cuya muerte haya sido causada por las bestias del campo, se puede usar para su alimento; es para ser dado a los perros.
Ye shall be an holy people vnto me, neither shall ye eate any flesh that is torne of beastes in the fielde: ye shall cast it to the dogge.
