Éxodo 10
1 Y él Señor dijo a Moisés: Entra a la presencia de Faraón; porque hice endurecer su corazón y el de sus siervos, para que mis señales se manifiesten entre ellos.
The Lord told Moses, “Go and see Pharaoh, because it was me who gave him and his officials a stubborn attitude so that I may perform my miracles before them.
2 Y para que puedas dar a tu hijo y al hijo de tu hijo la historia de mis maravillas en Egipto, y las señales que he hecho entre ellos; para que veas que YO SOY EL SEÑOR.
This is so you can tell your children and grandchildren how I made the Egyptians look foolish by doing these miracles among them, and so that you may know that I am the Lord.”
3 Entonces Moisés y Aarón fueron a Faraón, y le dijeron: Así dice el Señor, el Dios de los hebreos: ¿Hasta cuándo vas a rehusar a humillarte delante de mí? deja ir a mi pueblo para que me den culto.
Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and told him, “This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long are you going to refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they can worship me.
4 Porque si no dejas ir a mi pueblo, mañana enviaré chapulines a tu tierra:
If you refuse to let my people leave, tomorrow I will send a plague of locusts into your country.
5 Y se cubrirá la faz de la tierra con ellos, y no podrás ver la tierra; y destruirán todo lo que hasta ahora no ha sido dañado, todo lo que no fue aplastado por la tormenta de hielo, y cada árbol que aún vive en tus campos.
There will be so many of them that they'll cover the ground so no one can see it. They will eat whatever crops were left by the hail, as well as every tree growing in your fields.
6 Y tus casas se llenarán de ellos, y las casas de tus siervos y de todos los egipcios; será peor que cualquier cosa que hayan visto tus padres o sus padres, desde el día en que vivieron en la tierra hasta este día. Y entonces él salió de Faraón.
They will swarm into your houses and into the houses of all your officials—in fact into the houses of every Egyptian. This is something that none of your forefathers ever saw from the time they arrived in this country.’” Then Moses and Aaron turned and left Pharaoh.
7 Y los siervos de Faraón le dijeron: ¿Hasta cuándo este hombre va ser la causa del mal para nosotros? deja ir a los hombres para que adoren al Señor su Dios: ¿no se a dado cuenta que Egipto está destruido?
Pharaoh's officials came to him and asked, “How long are you going to let this man cause us trouble? Let these people go so they can worship the Lord their God. Don't you realize that Egypt has been destroyed?”
8 Entonces vinieron Moisés y Aarón otra vez delante de Faraón, y les dijo: ve, y adora al Señor tu Dios. ¿quién de ustedes va?
Moses and Aaron were brought back to see Pharaoh. “Go and worship the Lord your God,” he told them. “But who of you will be going?”
9 Y Moisés dijo: iremos con nuestros niños y nuestros ancianos, con nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas, con nuestros rebaños y nuestras vacas; porque debemos celebrar una fiesta para el Señor.
“We will all go,” Moses replied. “Young and old, sons and daughters—and we'll take our flocks and herds with us, for we're going to have a religious festival for the Lord.”
10 Y él les dijo: Creen que el Señor va estar con ustedes, si los dejo a ustedes y a sus pequeños que se vayan? Claramente, sus propósito son malos!
“The Lord really would have to be with you if I let your children go with you!” Pharaoh answered. “Clearly you're planning some kind of evil trick!
11 No es así; pero dejen que sus hombres vayan y rindan culto al Señor, como lo desean. Esto dijo, echandolos de delante de él.
So no! Only the men can go and worship the Lord, because that's what you've been asking for.” Then he had Moses and Aaron thrown out.
12 Y él Señor dijo a Moisés: Extiende tu mano sobre la tierra de Egipto, para que suban chapulines sobre la tierra, y destruyan toda planta verde en la tierra, todo lo que no haya sido tocado por la tempestad de hielo.
The Lord told Moses, “Lift up your hand over Egypt, so that the locusts may swarm over it and eat every plant in the country—everything that was left by the hail.”
13 Y se extendió la vara de Moisés sobre la tierra de Egipto, y él Señor envió un viento del este sobre la tierra todo aquel día y toda la noche; y a la mañana los chapulines subieron con el viento del este.
Moses held out his staff over Egypt, and all through that day and night the Lord sent an east wind blowing over the land. By the time morning came the east wind had brought in the locusts.
14 Y fueron los chapulines sobre toda la tierra de Egipto, y se posó sobre toda la tierra, en gran número; tal ejército de chapulines nunca se había visto antes, y nunca lo será otra vez.
The locusts swarmed across the land and settled in every part of the country. There had never been such a swarm of locusts ever before, and there won't be ever again.
15 Porque toda la faz de la tierra estaba cubierta de ellos, de modo que la tierra era negra; y toda planta verde y todo el fruto de los árboles que no había sido tocado por la tormenta de hielo que tomaron como alimento: ni una sola cosa verde, ninguna planta o árbol, se podía ver en toda la tierra de Egipto.
They covered the ground until it looked black, and they ate up all the plants in the fields and all the fruit on the trees that had been left by the hail. Not a single green leaf was left on any tree or plant anywhere in Egypt.
16 Entonces el faraón rápidamente envió a llamar a Moisés y a Aarón, y les dijo: Yo hice mal contra el Señor tu Dios y contra ti.
Pharaoh called urgently for Moses and Aaron and said, “I have sinned against the Lord your God and against you.
17 Permíteme ahora perdonar mi pecado solo esta vez, y orar al Señor tu Dios para que me quite esta muerte solamente.
So please forgive my sin just this one time and plead with the Lord your God, asking him to at least take away this deathly plague from me.”
18 Entonces él salió de Faraón e hizo oración al Señor.
Moses left Pharaoh and prayed to the Lord.
19 Y el SEÑOR envió un fuerte viento del oeste, que tomó los chapulines los arrojó al mar Rojo; ni un solo chapulín se podía ver en ninguna parte de Egipto.
The Lord changed the direction of the wind so that a strong westerly wind blew the locusts into the Red Sea. There wasn't a single locust left anywhere in Egypt.
20 Pero él Señor endureció el corazón de Faraón, y no dejó ir a los hijos de Israel.
But the Lord made Pharaoh stubborn, and he would not let the Israelites go.
21 Y él Señor dijo a Moisés: Extiende tu mano al cielo, y oscurece toda la tierra de Egipto, para que los hombres vayan andando en la oscuridad.
The Lord told Moses, “Lift your hand toward the sky so that darkness will fall over Egypt, darkness so thick that it can be felt.”
22 Y cuando se extendió la mano de Moisés, vino la noche oscura sobre toda la tierra de Egipto por tres días;
Moses lifted up his hand toward heaven, and the whole of Egypt went completely dark for three days.
23 No pudieron verse unos a otros, y nadie se levantó de su lugar por tres días; pero donde vivían los hijos de Israel, había luz.
No one could see anyone else, and no one moved from where they were for three days. But there was still light where all the Israelites lived.
24 Entonces Faraón envió a llamar a Moisés, y le dijo: Ve y adora al Señor; solo deja que sus rebaños y sus manadas se mantengan aquí: sus pequeños pueden ir con ustedes.
Eventually Pharaoh called for Moses. “Go and worship the Lord,” he said. “Just leave your flocks and herds here. You can even take your children with you.”
25 Pero Moisés dijo: Tendrás que dejar que tomemos holocaustos para poner delante de él Señor nuestro Dios.
But Moses replied, “You must also let us have animals for sacrifices and burnt offerings, so we can offer them to the Lord our God.
26 De modo que nuestro ganado tendrá que ir con nosotros, ninguno podrá ser retenido; porque son necesarios para la adoración del Señor nuestro Dios; no tenemos conocimiento de qué ofrenda tenemos que dar hasta que lleguemos al lugar.
Our livestock have to go with us too—not a single animal will be left behind. We'll need some of them to worship the Lord our God, and we won't know how we are to worship the Lord until we get there.”
27 Pero el Señor endureció el corazón de Faraón y no los dejó ir.
But the Lord made Pharaoh stubborn, and he would not let them go.
28 Y Faraón le dijo: Apártate de mí, y procura que no vuelvas delante de mí; porque el día en que vuelvas a ver mi cara será la última.
Pharaoh shouted at Moses, “Get out of here! I don't want to see you ever again! If I ever do see you again you'll die!”
29 Y Moisés dijo: Tú dices en verdad; No volveré a ver tu cara.
“May it be as you say,” Moses replied. “I won't see you again.”
