Eclesiastés 9
1 Todo esto lo tomé en serio, y mi corazón lo vio todo: que los justos y los sabios y sus obras están en la mano de Dios; y los hombres pueden no estar seguros de si será amor u odio; Todo lo que pasa delante de ellos.
All this I took to heart, and my heart saw it all: that the upright and the wise and their works are in the hand of God; and men may not be certain if it will be love or hate; all is to no purpose before them.
2 Porque para todos hay un acontecimiento, para el hombre recto y para el mal, para el limpio y para el inmundo, para el que hace una ofrenda y para el que no hace ninguna ofrenda; como es bueno así es el pecador; el que hace juramento es como el que le teme.
Because to all there is one event, to the upright man and to the evil, to the clean and to the unclean, to him who makes an offering and to him who makes no offering; as is the good so is the sinner; he who takes an oath is as he who has fear of it.
3 Esto es malo en todas las cosas que se hacen bajo el sol, que hay un destino para todos, y los corazones de los hijos de los hombres están llenos de mal; mientras tienen vida, sus corazones son tontos, y después de eso, al sepulcro.
This is evil in all things which are done under the sun: that there is one fate for all, and the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil; while they have life their hearts are foolish, and after that — to the dead.
4 Para el que está unido a todos los que viven allí, hay esperanza; Un perro vivo es mejor que un león muerto.
For him who is joined to all the living there is hope; a living dog is better than a dead lion.
5 Los vivos están conscientes de que la muerte les llegará, pero los muertos no tienen conciencia de nada, y ya no tienen una recompensa, porque no hay memoria de ellos.
The living are conscious that death will come to them, but the dead are not conscious of anything, and they no longer have a reward, because there is no memory of them.
6 Su amor, su odio y su envidia han terminado; y ya no tienen una parte para siempre en nada que se haga bajo el sol.
Their love and their hate and their envy are now ended; and they have no longer a part for ever in anything which is done under the sun.
7 Ven, toma tu pan con alegría, y tu vino con un corazón alegre. Dios le ha complacido tus obras.
Come, take your bread with joy, and your wine with a glad heart. God has taken pleasure in your works.
8 Deja que tu ropa sea blanca en todo momento, y no permitas que tu cabeza esté sin aceite.
Let your clothing be white at all times, and let not your head be without oil.
9 Disfruta con la mujer que amas, todos los días de tu vida transitoria que Él te da bajo el sol. Porque esa es tu parte en la vida y en tu trabajo que haces bajo el sol.
Have joy with the woman of your love all the days of your foolish life which he gives you under the sun. Because that is your part in life and in your work which you do under the sun.
10 Lo que venga a tu mano para hacer, con todo tu poder, hazlo, porque no hay trabajo, ni pensamiento, ni conocimiento, ni sabiduría en el lugar de los muertos a donde vas a parar. (Sheol h7585)
Whatever comes to your hand to do with all your power, do it because there is no work, or thought, or knowledge, or wisdom in the place of the dead to which you are going. (Sheol h7585)
11 Y otra vez vi bajo el sol que la recompensa no es para el que es rápido, o los frutos de la guerra para el fuerte; y no hay pan para los sabios, ni riqueza para los hombres de aprendizaje, ni respeto para los que tienen conocimiento; Pero el tiempo y la oportunidad llegan a todos.
And again I saw under the sun that the reward goes not to him who is quick, or the fruits of war to the strong; and there is no bread for the wise, or wealth for men of learning, or respect for those who have knowledge; but time and chance come to all.
12 Incluso el hombre no tiene conocimiento de su tiempo; Como los peces tomados en una red malvada, o como los pájaros tomados por engaño, son los hijos de los hombres tomados en un mal momento cuando se presenta de repente sobre ellos.
Even man has no knowledge of his time; like fishes taken in an evil net, or like birds taken by deceit, are the sons of men taken in an evil time when it comes suddenly on them.
13 Otra vez lo he visto bajo el sol como sabiduría y me pareció genial.
This again I have seen under the sun as wisdom and it seemed great to me.
14 Había un pequeño pueblo y el número de sus hombres era pequeño, y hubo un gran rey en su contra que atacó, construyendo obras de guerra alrededor de él.
There was a little town and the number of its men was small, and there came a great king against it and made an attack on it, building works of war round about it.
15 Ahora había en la ciudad un hombre pobre y sabio, y él, por su sabiduría, mantuvo la ciudad a salvo. Pero nadie tenía ningún recuerdo de ese mismo pobre hombre.
Now there was in the town a poor, wise man, and he, by his wisdom, kept the town safe. But no one had any memory of that same poor man.
16 Entonces dije: La sabiduría es mejor que la fuerza, pero la sabiduría del pobre no es respetada, y sus palabras no son escuchadas.
Then I said, Wisdom is better than strength, but the poor man's wisdom is not respected, and his words are not given a hearing.
17 Las palabras de los sabios que llegan silenciosamente al oído se notan más que el clamor de un gobernante entre los necios.
The words of the wise which come quietly to the ear are noted more than the cry of a ruler among the foolish.
18 La sabiduría es mejor que los armas de guerra, pero un pecador es la destrucción de mucho bien.
Wisdom is better than instruments of war, but one sinner is the destruction of much good.
