Eclesiastés 7
1 Un buen nombre es mejor que el aceite de gran precio, y el día de la muerte que el día de nacimiento.
A good name is better than precious oil; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.
2 Es mejor ir a la casa del llanto que ir a la casa del banquete; porque ese es el fin de cada hombre, y los vivos lo llevarán a sus corazones.
It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting; for that is the end of all men, and the living will lay it to his heart.
3 El dolor es mejor que la alegría; Cuando la cara está triste, la mente mejora.
Vexation is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the countenance the heart may be gladdened.
4 Los corazones de los sabios están en la casa del llanto; más los corazones de los necios están en la casa de la alegría.
The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.
5 Es mejor tomar nota de la represión de los hombres sabios, que escuchar el canto de los necios.
It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.
6 Al igual que el crujir de espinas debajo de una olla, también lo es la risa de un hombre necio; y esto de nuevo no tiene ningún propósito.
For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool; this also is vanity.
7 Los sabios están preocupados por la opresión de los crueles, y dar dinero es la destrucción del corazón.
Surely oppression turneth a wise man into a fool; and a gift destroyeth the understanding.
8 El fin de una cosa es mejor que su comienzo, y un espíritu amable es mejor que el orgullo.
Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof; and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
9 No dejes que tu espíritu se enoje; Porque la ira está en el corazón de los necios.
Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry; for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.
10 No digas: ¿Por qué los días que han pasado son mejores que estos? Tal pregunta no proviene de la sabiduría.
Say not thou: 'How was it that the former days were better than these?' for it is not out of wisdom that thou inquirest concerning this.
11 La sabiduría junto con una herencia es buena, y un beneficio para los que ven el sol.
Wisdom is good with an inheritance, yea, a profit to them that see the sun.
12 La sabiduría evita que un hombre corra peligro, como protege el dinero; pero el valor del conocimiento es que la sabiduría da vida a su dueño.
For wisdom is a defence, even as money is a defence; but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom preserveth the life of him that hath it.
13 Reflexiona sobre la obra de Dios. ¿Quién enderezará lo que él ha torcido?
Consider the work of God; for who can make that straight, which He hath made crooked?
14 En el día de la riqueza ten alegría, pero en el día del mal, piensa: Dios ha puesto el uno en contra del otro, para que el hombre no esté seguro de lo que sucederá después de él.
In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; God hath made even the one as well as the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.
15 Estos dos los he visto en mi vida que no tienen ningún propósito: un hombre bueno que llega a su fin en su justicia, y un hombre malo cuyos días son largos en su maldad.
All things have I seen in the days of my vanity; there is a righteous man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his evil-doing.
16 No seas demasiado justo y no se demasiado sabio. ¿Por qué dejar que la destrucción venga sobre ti?
Be not righteous overmuch; neither make thyself overwise; why shouldest thou destroy thyself?
17 No seas malvado, y no seas necio. ¿Por qué llegar a su fin antes de tiempo?
Be not overmuch wicked, neither be thou foolish; why shouldest thou die before thy time?
18 Es bueno tomar esto en tu mano y no apartarte de esto otro; el que tiene temor de Dios estará libre de los dos.
It is good that thou shouldest take hold of the one; yea, also from the other withdraw not thy hand; for he that feareth God shall discharge himself of them all.
19 La sabiduría hace a un hombre sabio más fuerte que diez gobernantes en una ciudad.
Wisdom is a stronghold to the wise man more than ten rulers that are in a city.
20 No hay hombre en la tierra de tal justicia que haga el bien y esté libre de pecado todos los días.
For there is not a righteous man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
21 No escuches todas las palabras que los hombres dicen, por temor a escuchar las maldiciones de tu siervo.
Also take not heed unto all words that are spoken, lest thou hear thy servant curse thee;
22 Tu corazón tiene conocimiento de la frecuencia con que otros han sido maldecidos por ti.
for oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.
23 Todo esto lo he puesto a prueba por sabiduría; Dije: Seré sabio, pero estaba lejos de mí.
All this have I tried by wisdom; I said: 'I will get wisdom'; but it was far from me.
24 Lejos está la existencia verdadera, y muy profunda; ¿Quién puede tener conocimiento de ello?
That which is is far off, and exceeding deep; who can find it out?
25 Me dediqué a conocer y a buscar la sabiduría y la razón de las cosas, y reconocer la maldad de la insensatez y la necedad de la locura.
I turned about, and applied my heart to know and to search out, and to seek wisdom and the reason of things, and to know wickedness to be folly, and foolishness to be madness;
26 Y vi una cosa más amarga que la muerte, incluso la mujer cuyo corazón está lleno de trucos y redes, y cuyas manos son como cadenas. Aquel con quien Dios se complace se liberará de ella, pero el pecador será tomado por ella.
and I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands; whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her.
27 ¡Mira! Esto lo he visto, dijo el Predicador, tomando una cosa tras otra para obtener la cuenta verdadera,
Behold, this have I found, saith Koheleth, adding one thing to another, to find out the account;
28 Que mi alma todavía está buscando, pero no la tengo; un hombre entre mil he visto; Pero una mujer entre todas estas no he hallado.
which yet my soul sought, but I found not; one man among a thousand have I found; but a woman among all those have I not found.
29 Esto solo lo he visto, que Dios enderezó a los hombres, pero han estado buscando todo tipo de artimañas.
Behold, this only have I found, that God made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.
