Eclesiastés 5
1 Cuida tus pies con cuidado cuando vayas a la casa de Dios, porque es mejor escuchar que hacer las ofrendas quemadas de los necios, porque no saben que solo hacen el mal.
Guard thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be ready to hearken: it is better than when fools give sacrifices; for they know not that they do evil.
2 No seas imprudente con tu boca, y no te apresures a que tu corazón diga nada delante de Dios, porque Dios está en el cielo y tú estás en la tierra; por lo tanto, sean pocas tus palabras.
Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thy heart be hasty to utter a word before God; for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth; therefore let thy words be few.
3 Como un sueño proviene de mucha tarea, la voz de un hombre necio viene con palabras en gran número.
For a dream cometh through a multitude of business; and a fool's voice through a multitude of words.
4 Cuando hagas un juramento ante Dios, cúmplelo rápidamente, porque Él no tiene placer en los necios; cumple el juramento que has tomado.
When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for He hath no pleasure in fools; pay that which thou vowest.
5 Es mejor no prestar juramento que jurar y no cumplir.
Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.
6 No permitas que tu boca haga que tu carne haga el mal. Y no digas ante el ángel, fue un error. Para que Dios no se enoje con tus palabras y ponga fin a la obra de tus manos.
Suffer not thy mouth to bring thy flesh into guilt, neither say thou before the messenger, that it was an error; wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thy hands?
7 Porque se habla mucho de los sueños y de cosas sin sentido. Pero deja que el temor de Dios esté en ti.
For through the multitude of dreams and vanities there are also many words; but fear thou God.
8 Si ves a los pobres bajo un yugo cruel, y la ley y el derecho están siendo violentamente volcados en un país, no te sorprendas, porque una autoridad está vigilando a otra y hay más altas que ellas.
If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and the violent perverting of justice and righteousness in the state, marvel not at the matter; for one higher than the high watcheth, and there are higher than they.
9 Generalmente es bueno para un país donde se trabaja la tierra para tener un rey.
But the profit of a land every way is a king that maketh himself servant to the field.
10 El que ama la plata nunca tiene suficiente plata, o el que ama la riqueza, suficiente ganancia. Esto de nuevo no tiene ningún propósito.
He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance, with increase; this also is vanity.
11 Cuando aumentan los bienes, aumenta el número de consumidores; ¿Y qué beneficio tiene el dueño más que verlos?
When goods increase, they are increased that eat them; and what advantage is there to the owner thereof, saving the beholding of them with his eyes?
12 El sueño de un hombre trabajador es dulce, si tiene poco o mucho alimento; pero al que está lleno, el sueño no vendrá.
Sweet is the sleep of a labouring man, whether he eat little or much; but the satiety of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.
13 Hay un gran mal que he visto bajo el sol: la riqueza guardada por el dueño para ser su perdición.
There is a grievous evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept by the owner thereof to his hurt;
14 Y vi la destrucción de su riqueza por una mala oportunidad; y cuando llegó a ser padre de un hijo no tenía nada en la mano.
and those riches perish by evil adventure; and if he hath begotten a son, there is nothing in his hand.
15 Al salir de su madre al nacer, vuelve a ir; no obtiene de su trabajo ninguna recompensa que pueda quitar en su mano.
As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he go back as he came, and shall take nothing for his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.
16 Y de nuevo esto es un gran mal, que en todos los puntos, al irse, se irá; ¿Y qué beneficio tiene él trabajando para el viento?
And this also is a grievous evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go; and what profit hath he that he laboureth for the wind?
17 Todos sus días están en la oscuridad, y él tiene mucha aflicción, dolor, enfermedad y problemas.
All his days also he eateth in darkness, and he hath much vexation and sickness and wrath.
18 Esto es lo que he visto: es bueno y justo para un hombre comer y beber y tener gozo en toda su obra bajo el sol, todos los días de su vida que Dios le ha dado; Esa es su recompensa.
Behold that which I have seen: it is good, yea, it is comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy pleasure for all his labour, wherein he laboureth under the sun, all the days of his life which God hath given him; for this is his portion.
19 Todo hombre a quien Dios le ha dado dinero, riquezas y el poder de tener placer en ello y hacer su parte y tener alegría en su trabajo: esto es dado por Dios.
Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour — this is the gift of God.
20 No pensará mucho en los días de su vida; porque Dios le permite ser ocupado con el gozo de su corazón.
For let him remember the days of his life that they are not many; for God answereth him in the joy of his heart.
