Deuteronomio 6

1 Estas son las órdenes y las leyes y las decisiones que el Señor su Dios me dio para su enseñanza, para que puedan cumplirlas en la tierra de su herencia a la que van.

This, then is the commandment—[namely] the statutes and the regulations, which Yahweh your God hath commanded to teach you, —that ye may do them in the land whither ye are passing over to possess it:

2 Para que temas al Señor tu Dios, guarden todas sus leyes y sus órdenes, que te doy; tú, tu hijo y el hijo de tu hijo, todos los días de tu vida; Y para que tu vida sea larga.

that thou mayest revere Yahweh thy God, [so as] to keep all his statutes and his commandments which I am commanding thee, thou and thy son and thy sons’ son, all the days of thy life, —and that thy days may be prolonged.

3 Escucha, oh Israel, y cuida de hacer esto; para que te vaya bien, y puedas ser un pueblo grandemente incrementado, como el Señor, el Dios de tus padres, te ha dado su palabra, en una tierra que fluye leche y miel.

Therefore shalt thou hear, O Israel, and shalt observe to do, that it may be well with thee, and that ye may multiply greatly, as Yahweh the God of thy fathers hath spoken to thee, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

4 Escucha, oh Israel: el Señor nuestro Dios es un solo Señor:

Hear, O Israel: Yahweh, is our God, —Yahweh alone.

5 Y el Señor tu Dios debe ser amado con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma y con todas tus fuerzas.

Thou shalt therefore love Yahweh thy God, —with all thy heart and with all thy soul, and with all thy might;

6 Guarda estas palabras, que te digo hoy, en lo profundo de tu corazón;

so shall these words which I am commanding thee to-day, be upon thy heart;

7 Enseñándoles a tus hijos con mucho cuidado, hablándoles cuando estén descansando en tu casa o caminando por el camino, cuando vayan a dormir y cuando te levantes.

and thou shalt impress them upon thy sons, and shalt speak of them, —when thou sittest in thy house and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down and when thou risest up;

8 Déjalos fijados como una señal en tu mano y en tu frente;

and thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, —and they shall serve for bands between thine eyes;

9 Escríbelos en los pilares de sus casas y en las puertas de sus casas.

and thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house and within thy gates.

10 Y cuando el SEÑOR tu Dios te haya llevado a la tierra que él juró a tus padres, a Abraham, a Isaac y a Jacob, que él te daría; con pueblos grandes y hermosos que ustedes no construyeron;

So shall it be, when Yahweh thy God shall bring thee into the land, which he sware to thy fathers—to Abraham to Isaac and to Jacob to give unto thee, —into cities great and goodly, which thou didst not build;

11 Y casas llenas de cosas buenas que no han sido almacenadas por ustedes, y lugares para almacenar el agua que ustedes no cavaron, y vides, jardines y olivos que no plantaron; y de los cuales han comido y están llenos;

and houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and hewn cisterns which thou hewedst not, vineyards and oliveyards which thou plantedst not, —and shalt eat and be full,

12 Luego, cuídense de mantener sus corazones firmes al Señor, que los sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de la esclavitud.

take heed unto thyself, lest thou forget Yahweh, —who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt out of the house of servants.

13 Que el temor de él Señor su Dios esté en sus corazones, y sean sus siervos, tomen juramento solo en su nombre.

Yahweh thy God, shalt thou revere And him, shalt thou serve, —And by his name, shalt thou swear.

14 No vayan tras otros dioses, los dioses de los pueblos que los rodean;

Ye shall not go after other gods, —of the gods of the peoples who are surrounding you;

15 Porque el Señor su Dios que está con ustedes es un Dios celoso; o la ira del Señor arderá contra ustedes, causando su destrucción de la faz de la tierra.

for a jealous GOD, is Yahweh thy God in thy midst, —lest the anger of Yahweh thy God kindle upon thee, and so he destroy thee from off the face of the ground.

16 No pongan a prueba al Señor su Dios como lo hicieron en Masah.

Ye shall not put Yahweh your God to the proof, —as ye put him to the proof in Massah [that is, "The place of proving"].

17 Guarda con cuidado las órdenes del Señor su Dios, y sus reglas y las leyes que les ha dado;

Ye shall, keep, the commandments of Yahweh your God and his testimonies and his statutes which he hath commanded thee;

18 Y hagan lo que sea recto y bueno a los ojos del Señor su Dios, para que les vaya bien y entren y tomen por su herencia esa buena tierra de la cual el Señor hizo un juramento sus padres.

so shalt thou do what is right and what is pleasing in the eyes of Yahweh, —that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest enter in and possess the good land, which Yahweh sware unto thy fathers;

19 Para enviar de delante de ustedes a todos los que están en su contra como les ha prometido.

to thrust out all thine enemies from before thee, —As spake Yahweh.

20 Y cuando tu hijo te diga en el futuro, ¿cuál es la razón de estas reglas y leyes y decisiones que el Señor nuestro Dios te ha dado?

When thy son shall ask thee in time to come, saying, —What mean the testimonies and the statutes and the regulations, which Yahweh our God commanded you?

21 Entonces dirás a tu hijo: Éramos siervos bajo el yugo de Faraón en Egipto; y el Señor nos sacó de Egipto con mano fuerte.

Then shalt thou say unto thy son, Servants, were we unto Pharaoh in Egypt, —and Yahweh brought us forth out of Egypt with a firm hand;

22 Y él Señor hizo grandes señales y prodigios contra Egipto, y contra Faraón y toda su casa, delante de nuestros ojos.

and Yahweh put forth signs and wonders great and sore upon Egypt upon Pharaoh and upon all his household before our eyes;

23 Y nos sacó de ese lugar, guiándonos aquí para darnos esta tierra, como dijo en su juramento a nuestros padres.

but he brought us forth from thence, —that he might bring us in, to give unto us the land, which he sware unto our fathers.

24 Y el Señor nos dio órdenes de guardar todas estas leyes, en el temor del Señor nuestro Dios, para que nos vaya bien, y para que Él nos guarde de la muerte, como lo ha hecho hasta este día.

So then Yahweh commanded us to do all these statutes, to revere Yahweh our God, —for our good, all the days, to preserve us alive (as at this day);

25 Y será nuestra justicia si cuidamos de mantener todos estos mandamientos ante el Señor nuestro Dios como él nos lo ha mandado.

and righteousness, shall it be to us, —when we take heed to do all this commandment, before Yahweh our God, as he commanded us.
