Deuteronomio 29
1 Estas son las palabras del pacto que el Señor le ordenó a Moisés que hiciera con los hijos de Israel en la tierra de Moab, además del pacto que él hizo con ellos en Horeb.
These are the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he had made with them in Horeb.
2 Y Moisés dijo a la vista de todo Israel: Han visto todo lo que el Señor hizo ante sus ojos en la tierra de Egipto a Faraón, a todos sus siervos y a toda su tierra;
And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye yourselves have seen all that the Lord hath done before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;
3 Las grandes pruebas que vieron sus ojos, y las señales y maravillas.
The great proofs which thy eyes have seen, those great signs, and miracles:
4 Pero hasta este día, el Señor no les ha dado un corazón para entender, ni a los ojos para ver, ni a los oídos para oír.
Yet the Lord gave you not a heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, until this day.
5 Durante cuarenta años he sido su guía a través del desierto; tu ropa no se desgastó en tus espaldas o tus zapatos en tus pies.
And I have led you forty years in the wilderness; your clothes did not fall worn out from off you, and thy shoe did not fall worn out from off thy foot.
6 No han comido pan, ni vino, ni bebida fuerte; para que vean que yo soy el Señor, tu Dios.
Bread have ye not eaten, and wine or strong drink have ye not drunk; in order that ye might understand that I am the Lord your God.
7 Cuando vinieron a este lugar, Sehón, rey de Hesbón, y Og, rey de Basán, salieron a hacer guerra contra nosotros y los vencimos.
And when ye came unto this place, Sichon the king of Cheshbon, and 'Og the king of Bashan went out against us unto battle, and we smote them:
8 Tomamos su tierra y la entregamos a los rubenitas, a los gaditas y a la media tribu de Manasés, por su herencia.
And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of the Menassites.
9 Así que guarden las palabras de este pacto y ponganlas en práctica, para que les vaya bien en todo lo que hagan.
Keep ye therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.
10 Han venido hoy aquí, todos ustedes, delante del Señor su Dios; Los jefes de sus tribus, los supervisores y los que tienen autoridad sobre ustedes, con todos los hombres de Israel.
Ye are standing this day, all of you, before the Lord your God; your heads of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, all the men of Israel,
11 Y sus pequeños, sus esposas y los extranjeros que están con ustedes en sus tiendas, hasta el cortador de madera y el sirviente que te trae agua,
Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in the midst of thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:
12 Con el propósito de participar en el pacto del Señor su Dios, y su juramento que hace hoy con ustedes.
That thou shouldst enter into the covenant of the Lord thy God, and into his oath of denunciation, which the Lord thy God maketh with thee this day.
13 Para que los haga su pueblo hoy, y sea su Dios, como les ha dicho, y como hizo un juramento a sus padres, Abraham, Isaac y Jacob.
In order to raise thee up today unto himself for a people, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath spoken unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
14 Y no solo con ustedes hace este pacto y este juramento;
And not with you alone do I make this covenant and this oath;
15 Pero con todos los que están aquí con nosotros hoy ante el Señor nuestro Dios, así como con los que no están aquí.
But with him that is standing here with us this day before the Lord our God, and with him that is not here with us this day.
16 Porque tengan en mente cómo vivíamos en la tierra de Egipto, y cómo llegamos a través de todas las naciones que estaban en nuestro camino;
(For ye know how we dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we passed through the nations through which ye have passed;
17 Y han visto sus hechos repugnantes, y las imágenes de madera y piedra y plata y oro que estaban entre ellos.
And ye saw their abominations, and their idols, of wood and stone, silver and gold, which they had with them: )
18 Para que no haya entre ustedes un hombre o una mujer o una familia o tribu cuyo corazón se haya apartado del Señor nuestro Dios hoy, para perseguir a otros dioses y adorarlos; o cualquier raíz entre ustedes cuyo fruto sea veneno y amargo dolor;
So that there may not be among you a man, or a woman, or a family, or a tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the Lord our God, to go to serve the gods of these nations; that there may not be among you a root that beareth abundantly poison and wormwood.
19 Si un hombre así, al escuchar las palabras de este juramento, se consuela pensando que tendrá paz incluso si continúa con el orgullo de su corazón, arriesgando cualquier oportunidad que pueda darle.
And it might come to pass, when he heareth the words of this denunciation, that he would bless himself in his heart, saying, There will be peace unto me, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart; in order that the indulgence of the passions may appease the thirst [for them]:
20 El Señor no tendrá piedad de él, pero la ira del Señor arderá contra ese hombre, y todas las maldiciones registradas en este libro lo estarán esperando, y el Señor le quitará su nombre por completo de la tierra.
The Lord will not pardon him; but then the anger of the Lord and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and there shall rest upon him all the curse that is written in this book; and the Lord will blot out his name from under the heavens.
21 Será marcado por el Señor, de todas las tribus de Israel, por un mal destino, de acuerdo con todas las maldiciones del pacto registrado en este libro de la ley.
And the Lord will single him out unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the denunciations of the covenant which is written in this book of the law.
22 Y las generaciones futuras, sus hijos que vienen después de ustedes y los viajeros de países lejanos, verán los castigos de esa tierra y las enfermedades que el Señor ha enviado sobre ella;
And the latest generation, your children that will rise up after you, and the stranger that will come from a far land, will say, when they see the plagues of that land, and its sufferings with which the Lord hath smitten it;
23 Veran que toda su tierra es azufre, sal y calcinación, nada se siembra, ni crece, ni siquiera una hierba, sino desperdiciados como Sodoma y Gomorra, Adma y Zeboim, a los cuales el Señor envió destrucción al calor de su ira.
[That] the whole soil thereof is brimstone, and salt, and a burning waste, which is not sown, and beareth not, and in which no kind of grass springeth up, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboyim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: —
24 En verdad, todas las naciones dirán: ¿Por qué ha hecho así el Señor a esta tierra? ¿Cuál es la razón de esta gran y ardiente ira?
Even all the nations will say, Wherefore hath the Lord done thus unto this land? whence the heat of this great anger?
25 Entonces los hombres dirán: Porque renunciaron al pacto del Señor, el Dios de sus padres, que hizo con ellos cuando los sacó de la tierra de Egipto.
Then shall men say, Because they had forsaken the covenant of the Lord, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt;
26 Y fueron tras otros dioses y les dieron adoración, dioses que eran extraños para ellos, y que él no les había dado.
And they went and served other gods, and bowed down to them, gods which they knew not, and which he had not assigned unto them;
27 Y así la ira del Señor fue movida contra esta tierra, para enviar sobre ella toda la maldición registrada en este libro.
And the anger of the Lord was kindled against this land, to bring upon it the entire curse that is written in this book;
28 Desarraigándolos de su tierra, en el calor de su ira, furor e indignación, y echandolos a otra tierra, como sucede hoy.
And the Lord plucked them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and he cast them into another land, as it is this day.
29 Las cosas secretas son del Señor nuestro Dios; pero las cosas que se han revelado son nuestras y de nuestros hijos para siempre, para que podamos cumplir todos los mandamientos de esta ley.
The secret things belong unto the Lord our God; but those things which are publicly known belong unto us and to our children for ever, to do all the words of this law.
