Deuteronomio 28
1 Ahora, si escuchas la voz del Señor tu Dios y guarda con cuidado todos sus mandamientos que te he dado hoy, entonces el Señor tu Dios te pondrá en alto sobre todas las naciones de la tierra.
Now if thou wilt hear the voice of the Lord thy God, to do and keep all his commandments, which I command thee this day, the Lord thy God will make thee higher than all the nations that are on the earth.
2 Y todas estas bendiciones vendrán sobre ti y te alcanzarán, si tus oídos están abiertos a la voz del Señor tu Dios.
And all these blessings shall come upon thee and overtake thee: yet so if thou hear his precepts,
3 Bendito serás en la ciudad, y bendito en el campo.
Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed in the field.
4 Bendito será el fruto de tu cuerpo, y el fruto de tu tierra, el fruto de tu ganado, y las crías de tu rebaño.
Blessed shall be the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the droves of thy herds, and the folds of thy sheep.
5 Benditas serán tu canasta y las sobras de tu tazón donde amasas la harina.
Blessed shall be thy barns and blessed thy stores.
6 Bendita será tu entrada y tu salida.
Blessed shalt thou be coming in and going out.
7 Por el poder del Señor, aquellos que tomen las armas contra ti serán vencidos ante ti; saldrán contra ti por un camino y huirán de ti por siete caminos.
The Lord shall cause thy enemies, that rise up against thee, to fall down before thy face: one way shall they come out against thee, and seven ways shall they flee before thee.
8 El Señor enviará su bendición a tus almacenes y a todo lo que pongas en tus manos. Su bendición estará sobre ti en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te está dando.
The Lord will send forth a blessing upon thy storehouses, and upon all the works of thy hands: and will bless thee in the land that thou shalt receive.
9 El Señor te mantendrá como pueblo santo para sí mismo, como te lo ha dicho en su juramento, si cumples los mandamientos del Señor tu Dios y sigues su camino.
The Lord will raise thee up to be a holy people to himself, as he swore to thee: if thou keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways.
10 Y todos los pueblos de la tierra verán que el nombre del Señor es invocado sobre ti, y te temerán.
And all the people of the earth shall see that the name of the Lord is invocated upon thee, and they shall fear thee.
11 Y el Señor te hará fecundo en todo lo bueno, en el fruto de tu cuerpo, y en el fruto de tu ganado, y en el fruto de tus campos, en la tierra que el Señor, por su juramento a tus padres, dijo que te daría.
The Lord will make thee abound with all goods, with the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy cattle, with the fruit of thy land, which the Lord swore to thy fathers that he would give thee.
12 Al abrir su almacén en el cielo, el Señor enviará lluvia a tu tierra en el momento adecuado, bendiciendo toda la obra de tus manos; otras naciones harán uso de tu riqueza y tu no tendrás necesidad de pedir prestado.
The Lord will open his excellent treasure, the heaven, that it may give rain in due season: and he will bless all the works of thy hands. And thou shalt lend to many nations, and shalt not borrow of any one.
13 El Señor te hará cabeza y no cola; y siempre tendrás el lugar más alto, nunca por debajo; si prestas atención a los mandamientos del Señor tu Dios que te doy hoy, para que las guardes y las hagas;
And the Lord shall make thee the head and not the tail: and thou shalt be always above, and not beneath: yet so if thou wilt hear the commandments of the Lord thy God which I command thee this day, and keep and do them,
14 No se aparten de ninguna de los mandamientos que les doy hoy, ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda, para ir tras otros dioses para servirle.
And turn not away from them neither to the right hand, nor to the left, nor follow strange gods, nor worship them.
15 Pero si no escuchas la voz del Señor tu Dios, ni cumples sus mandamientos y las leyes que te doy hoy, entonces todas estas maldiciones vendrán sobre ti y te alcanzarán.
But if thou wilt not hear the voice of the Lord thy God, to keep and to do all his commandments and ceremonies, which I command thee this day, all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.
16 Serás maldecido en la ciudad y maldito en el campo.
Cursed shalt thou be in the city, cursed in the field.
17 Maldita será tu canasta y tazón de amasar la harina.
Cursed shall be thy barn, and cursed thy stores.
18 Maldito será el fruto de tu cuerpo, y el fruto de tu tierra, sobre el aumento de tu ganado y las crías de tu rebaño.
Cursed shall be the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy ground, the herds of thy oxen, and the flocks of thy sheep.
19 Serás maldecido cuando entres y maldecido cuando salgas.
Cursed shalt thou be coming in, and cursed going out.
20 El Señor te enviará maldiciones, y problemas y castigos en todo aquello a lo que pongas tu mano, hasta que la repentina destrucción te alcance; Por haberlo abandonado con tus malos caminos.
The Lord shall send upon thee famine and hunger, and a rebuke upon all the works which thou shalt do: until he consume and destroy thee quickly, for thy most wicked inventions, by which thou hast forsaken me.
21 El Señor enviará enfermedad tras enfermedad sobre ti, hasta que seas cortado por la muerte de la tierra a la que vas.
May the Lord set the pestilence upon thee, until he consume thee out of the land, which thou shalt go in to possess.
22 El Señor enviará la enfermedad y el dolor ardiente y el calor ardiente contra ti, reteniendo la lluvia hasta que tu tierra esté agotada y muerta; así será hasta que tu destrucción sea completa.
May the Lord afflict thee with miserable want, with the fever and with cold, with burning and with heat, and with corrupted air and with blasting, and pursue thee till thou perish.
23 Y el cielo sobre sus cabezas será de bronce; y la tierra debajo de ti, será dura como el hierro.
Be the heaven, that is over thee, of brass: and the ground thou treadest on, of iron.
24 El Señor hará que la lluvia de tu tierra se convierta en polvo y arena, enviándola desde el cielo hasta que tu destrucción sea completa.
The Lord give thee dust for rain upon thy land, and let ashes come down from heaven upon thee, till thou be consumed.
25 El Señor te dejará ser vencido por tus enemigos; saldrás contra ellos de una manera ordenada, y volarás ante ellos siete caminos. Serás escarnio entre todos los reinos de la tierra.
The Lord make thee to fall down before thy enemies, one way mayst thou go out against them, and flee seven ways, and be scattered throughout all the kingdoms of the earth.
26 Tus cuerpos serán carne para todas las aves del aire y las bestias de la tierra; No habrá nadie quien las espante lejos.
And be thy carcass meat for all the Fowls of the air, and the beasts of the earth, and be there none to drive them away.
27 El Señor te enviará la enfermedad de Egipto y otros tipos de enfermedades de la piel: tumores, úlceras, sarna y comezón, de lo que no podrás ser sanado.
The Lord strike thee with the ulcer of Egypt, and the part of thy body, by which the dung is cast out, with the scab and with the itch: so that thou canst not be healed.
28 Él hará que sus mentes se enfermen, y sus ojos se vuelvan ciegos, y sus corazones se desvanezcan de miedo.
The Lord strike thee with madness and blindness and fury of mind.
29 Andarás a tientas tu camino cuando el sol esté alto, como un ciego para quien todo está oscuro, y en nada te irá bien: serás oprimido y empobrecido para siempre, y no tendrás un salvador.
And mayst thou grope at midday as the blind is wont to grope in the dark, and not make straight thy ways. And mayst thou at all times suffer wrong, and be oppressed with violence, and mayst thou have no one to deliver thee.
30 Tomarás una esposa, pero otro hombre dormirá con ella. La casa que han hecho tus manos nunca será tu lugar de descanso. Plantarás un viñedo, pero nunca tomarás el fruto de ella.
Mayst thou take a wife, and another sleep with her. Mayst thou build a house, and not dwell therein. Mayest thou plant a vineyard and not gather the vintage thereof.
31 Tu buey será muerto delante de tus ojos, pero su carne no será tu alimento; tu asno será quitado violentamente ante tu rostro y no te será devuelto. Tus ovejas serán entregadas a tus enemigos, y no habrá quien te salve.
May thy ox be slain before thee, and thou not eat thereof. May thy ass be taken away in thy sight, and not restored to thee. May thy sheep be given to thy enemies, and may there be none to help thee.
32 Tus hijos y tus hijas serán entregados a otra gente, y tus ojos mirarán y desfallecen por ellos todo el día y no tendrás poder para hacer nada.
May thy sons and thy daughters be given to another people, thy eyes looking on, and languishing at the sight of them all the day, and may there be no strength in thy hand.
33 El fruto de tu tierra y toda la obra de tus manos será alimento para una nación que sea extraña para ti y para tus padres; solo serás oprimido y malos tratos para siempre.
May a people which thou knowest not, eat the fruits of thy land, and all thy labours: and mayst thou always suffer oppression, and be crushed at all times.
34 Para que las cosas que tus ojos tienen que ver, te vuelvan loco.
And be astonished at the terror of those things which thy eyes shall see:
35 El Señor enviará una enfermedad de la piel, atacará tus rodillas y tus piernas, estallando desde tus pies hasta la parte superior de tu cabeza, para que nada te haga sentir bien.
May the Lord strike thee with a very sore ulcer in the knees and in the legs, and be thou incurable from the sole of the foot to the top of the head.
36 Y a ti, y al rey que has puesto sobre ti, el Señor los llevará a una nación extraña para ti y para tus padres; Allí serás siervos de otros dioses de madera y piedra.
The Lord shall bring thee, and thy king, whom thou shalt have appointed over thee, into a nation which thou and thy fathers know not: and there thou shalt serve strange gods, wood and stone.
37 Y te convertirás en espanto, en proverbio, en un nombre de vergüenza entre todas las naciones donde el Señor te llevará.
And thou shalt be lost, as a proverb and a byword to all people, among whom the Lord shall bring thee in.
38 Sembrarás mucha semilla al campo, pero recogerás poco; porque la langosta lo consumió.
Thou shalt cast much seed into the ground, and gather little: because the locusts shall consume all.
39 Pondrás en viñedos y cuidarás de ellas, pero no obtendrás vino ni uvas de ellas; porque serán comida para los gusanos.
Thou shalt plant a vineyard, and dig it, and shalt not drink the wine, nor gather any thing thereof: because it shall be wasted with worms.
40 Tu tierra estará llena de olivos, pero no habrá aceite para la comodidad de tu cuerpo; porque tu olivo no dará fruto.
Thou shalt have olive trees in all thy borders, and shalt not be anointed with the oil: for the olives shall fall off and perish.
41 Tendrás hijos e hijas, pero no serán tuyos; porque se irán prisioneros a tierra extraña.
Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, and shalt not enjoy them: because they shall be led into captivity.
42 Todos tus árboles y el fruto de tu tierra serán destruidos por la langosta.
The blast shall consume all the trees and the fruits of thy ground.
43 El extranjero que vive en medio de ti será elevado más y más alto sobre ti, mientras tú desciendes más y más.
The stranger that liveth with thee in the land, shall rise up over thee, and shall be higher: and thou shalt go down, and be lower.
44 Él te prestará su riqueza en interés, y tu no tendrás nada que prestar; él será la cabeza y tú la cola.
He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him. He shall be as the head, and thou shalt be the tail.
45 Y todas estas maldiciones vendrán después de ti y te alcanzarán, hasta que tu destrucción sea completa; porque no escuchaste la voz del Señor tu Dios, ni guardaste sus mandamientos y las órdenes que él te dio.
And all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue and overtake thee, till thou perish: because thou heardst not the voice of the Lord thy God, and didst not keep his commandments and ceremonies which he commanded thee.
46 Estas cosas vendrán sobre ti y sobre tu simiente, para ser una señal y una maravilla para siempre,
And they shall be as signs and wonders on thee, and on thy seed for ever.
47 Porque no honraste al Señor tu Dios, adorándolo con alegría, con gozo en sus corazones cuando tantos bienes te había dado.
Because thou didst not serve the Lord thy God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things:
48 Por esta causa te convertirás en siervo de los que el Señor tu Dios enviará contra ti: en hambre, en sed y desnudez, y en escasez de todas las cosas; y él te pondrá un yugo de hierro en el cuello hasta que te haya puesto fin.
Thou shalt serve thy enemy, whom the Lord will send upon thee, in hunger, and thirst, and nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put an iron yoke upon thy neck, till he consume thee.
49 El Señor enviará una nación contra ti desde los confines de la tierra, viniendo con la rapidez de un Águila en vuelo; una nación cuyo lenguaje no entenderás;
The Lord will bring upon thee a nation from afar, and from the uttermost ends of the earth, like an eagle that flyeth swiftly, whose tongue thou canst not understand,
50 Una nación de aspecto feroz, que no tendrá respeto por los ancianos ni misericordia por los niños.
A most insolent nation, that will shew no regard to the ancients, nor have pity on the infant,
51 Tomará el fruto de tu ganado y de tu tierra hasta que la muerte te ponga fin. No te permitirá tener nada de tu grano, vino o aceite, ni del aumento de tu ganado o de tus crías. rebaño, hasta que él te haya destruido completamente.
And will devour the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruits of thy land: until thou be destroyed, and will leave thee no wheat, nor wine, nor oil, nor herds of oxen, nor flocks of sheep: until he destroy thee.
52 Tus ciudades serán cerradas por sus ejércitos, hasta que sus altos muros, en los que depositan su fe, hayan descendido: sus ejércitos rodearán tus ciudades, a través de toda la tierra que el Señor su Dios les ha dado.
And consume thee in all thy cities, and thy strong and high walls be brought down, wherein thou trustedst in all thy land. Thou shalt be besieged within thy gates in all thy land which the Lord thy God will give thee:
53 Y tu alimento será el fruto de tu cuerpo, la carne de los hijos e hijas que el Señor tu Dios te ha dado; Debido a tu amarga necesidad y al cruel control de tus enemigos.
And thou shalt eat the fruit of thy womb, and the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the Lord thy God shall give thee, in the distress and extremity wherewith thy enemy shall oppress thee.
54 El hombre entre ustedes que es tierno y acostumbrado a consolar será duro y cruel con su hermano, con su querida esposa y con aquellos de sus hijos que aún viven;
The man that is nice among you, and very delicate, shall envy his own brother, and his wife, that lieth in his bosom,
55 Y no dará a ninguno de ellos la carne de sus hijos, que será su alimento, porque no tiene otro; en las dificultades y ataques crueles de tus enemigos sobre todos tus pueblos.
So that he will not give them of the flesh of his children, which he shall eat: because he hath nothing else in the siege and the want, wherewith thy enemies shall distress thee within all thy gates.
56 La más tierna y delicada de tus mujeres, que ni siquiera pondría el pie en la tierra, por delicada que era; será de corazón duro para su esposo, para su hijo y para su hija;
The tender and delicate woman, that could not go upon the ground, nor set down her foot for over much niceness and tenderness, will envy her husband who lieth in her bosom, the flesh of her son, and of her daughter,
57 Y a su bebé recién nacido, y a los hijos de su cuerpo; por no tener otra comida, ella los comerá en secreto, debido a su amarga necesidad y dificultad y cruel control de tus enemigos en todas tus ciudades.
And the filth of the afterbirths, that come forth from between her thighs, and the children that are born the same hour. For they shall eat them secretly for the want of all things, in the siege and distress, wherewith thy enemy shall oppress thee within thy gates.
58 Si no te preocupas por hacer todas las palabras de esta ley, registradas en este libro, honrando ese nombre de gloria y de temor, EL SEÑOR TU DIOS;
If thou wilt not keep, and fulfill all the words of this law, that are written in this volume, and fear his glorious and terrible name: that is, The Lord thy God:
59 Entonces el Señor tu Dios hará tu castigo, y el castigo de tu simiente, una cosa para admirar; grandes castigos y enfermedades crueles que se extienden a través de largos años.
The Lord shall increase thy plagues, and the plagues of thy seed, plagues great and lasting, infirmities grievous and perpetual.
60 Él te enviará nuevamente todas las enfermedades de Egipto, que fueron causa de temor para ti, y te tomarán bajo su control.
And he shall bring back on thee all the afflictions of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of, and they shall stick fast to thee.
61 Y todas las enfermedades y dolores no registrados en el libro de esta ley, el Señor te enviará hasta que tu destrucción sea completa.
Moreover the Lord will bring upon thee all the diseases, and plagues, that are not written in the volume of this law till he consume thee:
62 Y quedarán pocos en número, aunque fueran numerosos como las estrellas del cielo; porque no escuchaste la voz del Señor tu Dios.
And you shall remain few in number, who before were as the stars of heaven for multitude, because thou heardst not the voice of the Lord thy God.
63 Y mientras el Señor se deleitaba en hacerte bien y en multiplicarte, así el Señor se complacerá en arruinarte y causar tu destrucción, y serás desarraigado de la tierra que estás a punto de tomar como tu herencia.
And as the Lord rejoiced upon you before doing good to you, and multiplying you: so he shall rejoice destroying and bringing you to nought, so that you shall be taken away from the land which thou shalt go in to possess.
64 Y el Señor te enviará a vagar entre todos los pueblos, de un extremo a otro de la tierra. Allí serás siervos de otros dioses, de madera y piedra, dioses de los que ni tú ni tus padres conocían.
The Lord shall scatter thee among all people, from the farthest parts of the earth to the ends thereof: and there thou shalt serve strange gods, which both thou art ignorant of and thy fathers, wood and stone.
65 Y aun entre estas naciones no habrá paz para ti, ni descanso para tus pies; pero el Señor te dará allí un corazón tembloroso y un derroche de ojos tristes y cansancio del alma.
Neither shalt thou be quiet, even in those nations, nor shall there be any rest for the sole of thy foot. For the Lord will give thee a fearful heart, and languishing eyes, and a soul consumed with pensiveness:
66 Tu misma vida quedará en suspenso delante de ti, y día y noche se llenarán de miedos, y nada en la vida será seguro.
And thy life shall be as it were hanging before thee. Thou shalt fear night and day, neither shalt thou trust thy life.
67 Por la mañana dirás: ¡Ojalá fuera la tarde! Y al anochecer dirás: ¡Si solo llegara la mañana! Por el miedo en tus corazones amedrentados y las cosas que tus ojos verán.
In the morning thou shalt say: Who will grant me evening? and at evening: Who will grant me morning? for the fearfulness of thy heart, wherewith thou shalt be terrified, and for those things which thou shalt see with thy eyes.
68 Y el Señor te llevará de vuelta a Egipto en barcos, por el camino que te había dicho: Nunca lo volverás a ver: allí se ofrecerán en venta como siervos y siervas a sus enemigos, y ningún hombre los comprará.
The Lord shall bring thee again with ships into Egypt, by the way whereof he said to thee that thou shouldst see it no more. There shalt thou be set to sale to thy enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.
