Deuteronomio 27

1 Entonces Moisés y los hombres responsables de Israel dieron a la gente estas órdenes: Guarden todas las órdenes que les he dado este día;

And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people saying, —Observe all the commandment which I am commanding you to-day.

2 Y el día que pases por el Jordán a la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te está dando, levantarán grandes piedras y las blanquearan con cal.

So then it shall be in the day when ye shall pass over the Jordan, into the land which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee, —that thou shalt rear thee up great stones, and plaster them with plaster;

3 Y escribirás en ellas todas las palabras de esta ley, después de que hayan entrado; para que tomen la herencia que el Señor tu Dios les da, una tierra que fluye leche y miel, como el Señor, el Dios de tus padres, te prometió.

and shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou shalt pass over, —to the end that thou mayest enter upon the land which Yahweh thy God is giving unto thee a land flowing with milk and honey, as Yahweh the God of thy fathers hath spoken unto thee.

4 Y cuando hayas pasado el Jordán, debes colocar estas piedras, como te he dicho hoy, en el monte Ebal, y blanquearlas con cal.

So then it shall be when ye shall pass over the Jordan, that ye shall rear up these stones which I am commanding you to-day in Mount Ebal, —and thou shalt plaster them with plaster.

5 Allí tienes que hacer un altar al Señor tu Dios, de piedras sobre las cuales no se ha usado ningún instrumento de hierro.

And thou shalt build there an altar unto Yahweh thy God, —an altar of stones, thou shalt not wield thereupon any tool of iron.

6 Debes hacer del altar del Señor tu Dios de piedras sin cortar; ofreciendo en él ofrendas quemadas al Señor tu Dios:

Of whole stones, shalt thou build the altar of Yahweh thy God, —then shalt thou cause to go up thereon ascending-sacrifices, unto Yahweh thy God;

7 Y debes hacer tus ofrendas de paz, festejando allí con alegría delante del Señor su Dios.

and thou shalt sacrifice peace-offerings and shalt eat there, —and rejoice before Yahweh thy God.

8 Y pon sobre las piedras todas las palabras de esta ley, escríbelas muy claramente.

And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law doing it plainly and well.

9 Entonces Moisés y los sacerdotes, los levitas, dijeron a todo Israel: Guarden silencio y escuchen, Israel; Hoy te has convertido en el pueblo del Señor tu Dios.

And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel saying, —Keep silence and hear O Israel, This day, hast thou been made a people unto Yahweh thy God.

10 Por esta razón, debes oír la voz del Señor tu Dios, y cumplir sus mandamientos y las leyes que les doy este día.

Thou shalt therefore hearken unto the voice of Yahweh thy God, —and do his commandments and his statutes, which I am commanding thee to-day.

11 Ese mismo día Moisés dijo al pueblo:

And Moses commanded the people on that day, saying:

12 Estos deben tomar su lugar en el Monte Gerizim para bendecir a la gente cuando hayan cruzado el Jordán: Simeón, Leví y Judá e Isacar y José y Benjamín;

These, shall stand to bless the people upon Mount Gerizim, when ye have passed over the Jordan, —Simeon and Levi and Judah, and Issachar and Joseph and Benjamin;

13 Y estos deben estar en el monte Ebal para la maldición: Rubén, Gad y Aser, y Zabulón, Dan, y Neftalí.

and, these, shall stand by the curse in Mount Ebal, —Reuben Gad and Asher, and Zebulun Dan and Naphtali.

14 Entonces los levitas deben decir en voz alta a todos los hombres de Israel:

Then shall the Levites respond and say unto every man of Israel with voice uplifted: —

15 Maldito es el hombre que hace cualquier imagen de madera o piedra o metal, repugna al Señor, la obra de las manos de un artífice, y lo pone en secreto. Y todo el pueblo dirá: Amén.

Cursed, be the man that maketh an image—cut or molten—an abomination unto Yahweh the work of the hands of the craftsman and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall respond and say—Amen.

16 Maldito el que no honra a su padre ni a su madre. Y todo el pueblo dirá: Amén.

Cursed, be he that holdeth in light esteem his father or his mother. And all the people shall say—Amen.

17 Maldito el que toma el límite de propiedad de su vecino. Y todo el pueblo dirá: Amén.

Cursed, be he that moveth back the boundary of his neighbour. And all the people shall say—Amen.

18 Maldito el que hace que los ciegos salgan del camino. Y que todo el pueblo dirá: Amén.

Cursed, be he that causeth the blind to wander in the way. And all the people shall say—Amen.

19 Maldito el que da una decisión equivocada en la causa de un hombre extranjero, o de un huérfano, o de una viuda. Y todo el pueblo dirá: Amén.

Cursed, be he that perverteth the right of the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow. And all the people shall say—Amen.

20 Maldito el que tiene relaciones sexuales con la esposa de su padre, porque ha avergonzado a su padre. Y todo el mundo dirá: Amén.

Cursed, be he that lieth with his father’s wife, because he hath turned aside his father’s coverlet. And all the people shall say—Amen.

21 Maldito el que tiene relaciones sexuales con cualquier tipo de bestia. Y todo el pueblo dirá: Amen.

Cursed, be he that lieth with any beast. And all the people shall say—Amen.

22 Maldito el que tiene relaciones sexuales con su hermana, la hija de su padre o de su madre. Y todo el pueblo dirá: Amén.

Cursed, be he that lieth with his sister, daughter of his father or daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say—Amen.

23 Maldito el que tiene relaciones sexuales con su suegra. Y todo el pueblo dirá: Amén.

Cursed, be he that lieth with his mother-in-law. And all the people shall say—Amen.

24 Maldito el que toma la vida de su vecino en secreto. Y todo el pueblo dirá: Amén.

Cursed, be he that smiteth his neighbour secretly. And all the people shall say—Amen.

25 Maldito el que por una recompensa mata al que no ha hecho nada malo. Y todo el pueblo dirá: Amén.

Cursed, be he that taketh a bribe to shed innocent blood. And all the people shall say—Amen.

26 Maldito el que no se toma en serio esta ley para hacerlo. Y todo el pueblo dirá: Amén.

Cursed, be he that establisheth not the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say—Amen.
