Deuteronomio 24
1 Si un hombre toma esposa, y después de que se casen, él a encontrado algo impuro en ella, que le dé una declaración de divorcio por escrito y la enviará lejos de su casa.
When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass, that if she find no favor in his eyes, because he hath found some scandalous thing in her, he may write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her away out of his house;
2 Y cuando ella se haya alejado de él, puede convertirse en la esposa de otro hombre.
And she shall depart out of his house; and if she go and become another man's wife;
3 Y si el segundo marido no la ama y, dándole una declaración de divorcio por escrito, la despide; o si la muerte le llega al segundo marido con quien se casó;
And the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her away out of his house; or if the latter husband, who took her as his wife, should die:
4 Su primer marido, que la había enviado lejos, no puede llevarla de vuelta después de que ella haya sido esposa de otro; porque eso es repugnante para el Señor, y no deben ser causa del pecado en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da para tu herencia.
Then shall her former husband, who had sent her away, not be at liberty to take her again to be his wife, after she hath been defiled; for it is abomination before the Lord; and thou shalt not bring sin upon the land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
5 Un hombre recién casado no tendrá que salir con el ejército ni emprender ningún negocio, sino que puede estar libre por un año, viviendo en su casa para la comodidad de su esposa.
When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any public business: he shall be free for his house one year, and shall cheer up his wife whom he hath taken.
6 Nadie debe tomar, a causa de una deuda, las piedras con las que se muele el grano: porque al hacerlo, sería como pedirle en prenda su propia vida.
No man shall take to pledge the nether or the upper millstone; for he taketh a man's life to pledge.
7 Si un hombre secuestra a uno de sus compatriotas, a los hijos de Israel, usándolo como su esclavo o vendiéndolo, ese secuestrador debe ser condenado a muerte. Para acabar así con él mal, debe deshacerse del mal de entre ustedes.
If a man be found stealing any one of his brethren of the children of Israel, and he treateth him as a slave, and selleth him: then shall that thief die; and thou shalt put the evil away from the midst of thee.
8 En relación con la enfermedad de los leprosos, tengan cuidado de guardar y hacer todos los detalles de la enseñanza de los sacerdotes, los levitas: como les di las órdenes, así deben hacer.
Take heed of the plague of leprosy, to observe diligently, and to do according to all that the priests, the Levites, may instruct you; as I have commanded them, so shall ye observe to do.
9 Ten en cuenta lo que el Señor tu Dios le hizo a María en el camino, cuando saliste de Egipto.
Remember what the Lord thy God did unto Miriam on the journey, at your coming forth out of Egypt.
10 Si dejas que tu hermano use algo que es tuyo, no entren en su casa y tomen nada de él como signo de su deuda;
When thou dost lend thy brother any thing as a loan, thou shalt not go into his house to take his pledge.
11 Pero mantente afuera hasta que él salga y te lo dé.
In the street shalt thou stand, and the man to whom thou dost lend shall bring out unto thee the pledge into the street.
12 Si es un hombre pobre, no guarden su propiedad toda la noche;
And if he be a poor man, thou shalt not lie down with his pledge:
13 Pero asegúrense de devolverla cuando el sol se ponga, para que pueda tener su ropa para dormir, y les dé su bendición: y esto será presentado ante ustedes como justicia ante el Señor tu Dios supremo.
Thou shalt punctually deliver him the pledge again when the sun goeth down, that he may lie under his own cover, and bless thee; and unto thee shall it be as righteousness before the Lord thy God.
14 No sean duros con un sirviente pobre y necesitado, si es uno de sus compatriotas o un hombre de otra nación que vive con ustedes en su tierra.
Thou shalt not withhold the wages of a hired man, of the poor and needy, [whether he be] of thy brethren, or of the strangers that are in thy land within thy gates.
15 Dale su pago día a día, no guardándolo durante la noche; porque él es pobre y su vida depende de ello; y si su clamor contra ustedes llega a los oídos del Señor, será juzgado como pecado en ustedes.
On the same day shalt thou give him his wages, that the sun may not go down upon it; for he is poor, and his soul longeth for it; so that he may not cry against thee unto the Lord, and it be sin in thee.
16 Los padres no deben ser condenados a muerte por sus hijos o hijos por sus padres: todo hombre debe ser condenado a muerte por el pecado que él mismo ha cometido.
Fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall children be put to death for the fathers: for his own sin shall every man be put to death.
17 Sean honestos al juzgar la causa del hombre de un país extraño y de aquel que no tiene padre; No tomen la ropa de una viuda a causa de una deuda:
Thou shalt not pervert the cause of the stranger, or of the fatherless; and thou shalt not take in pledge the raiment of a widow;
18 Pero tengan en cuenta que eran siervos en la tierra de Egipto, y el Señor tu Dios los liberó. Por eso les doy órdenes de hacer esto.
But thou shalt remember that thou waste a bond-man in Egypt, and that the Lord thy God redeemed thee thence; therefore do I command thee to do this thing.
19 Cuando estén cosechando el grano de su campo, si parte del grano se ha caído por casualidad en el campo, no regresen a buscarlo, sino que sea para el hombre extranjero, el niño sin padre, y la viuda: para que la bendición del Señor tu Dios esté en toda la obra de sus manos.
When thou cuttest down thy harvest in thy field, and forgettest a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go back to fetch it; for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow shall it be; in order that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hands.
20 Cuando estén sacudiendo la fruta de sus olivos, no pasen por encima de las ramas por segunda vez: sea para el hombre extranjero, el niño sin padre y la viuda.
When thou beatest thy olive-tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again; for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow shall it be.
21 Cuando estés arrancando las uvas de tus enredaderas, no tomes las que se han caído; Que sean para el hombre extranjero, el niño sin padre y la viuda.
When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean the small fruit afterward; for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow shall it be.
22 Tengan en cuenta que eran esclavos en la tierra de Egipto; por eso te mando que hagas esto.
And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bond-man in the land of Egypt; therefore do I command thee to do this thing:
