Deuteronomio 11
1 Ama, pues, al Señor tu Dios, y dale culto, y guarda sus leyes, sus decisiones y sus órdenes en todo momento.
Therefore shalt thou love Yahweh thy God and keep his observance and his statutes and his regulations and his commandments all the days.
2 Y reconozcan en este día; porque estas palabras no hablé a sus hijos, que no han tenido experiencia en el entrenamiento del Señor su Dios, y que no han visto su gran poder ni su mano fuerte y su brazo extendido,
And ye must know to-day, (for not with your sons [do I speak] who know not, neither have they seen) the discipline of Yahweh your God, —his greatness, his firm hand, and his stretched-out arm;
3 O las señales y maravillas que hizo en Egipto, a Faraón, rey de Egipto, y toda su tierra;
and his signs and his doings, which he did in the midst of Egypt, —unto Pharaoh king of Egypt and unto all his land;
4 Y lo que hizo al ejército de Egipto, a sus caballos y a sus carros de guerra; cómo hizo que las aguas del Mar Rojo subieran sobre ellos cuando los siguieron, y cómo el Señor les puso fin hasta el día de hoy;
and what he did unto the forces of Egypt—unto his horses and unto his chariots in that he caused the waters of the Red Sea to flow over their faces, when they were pursuing after you, —and so Yahweh destroyed them (unto this day);
5 Y lo que hizo por ustedes en el desierto, hasta que viniste a este lugar;
and what he did unto you, in the desert, —until ye came in as far as this place;
6 Y lo que hizo a Datán y Abiram, los hijos de Eliab, el hijo de Rubén; cuando bajaron a la boca abierta de la tierra, con sus familias y sus tiendas y todo ser viviente que le seguía, ante los ojos de todo Israel:
and what he did to Dathan and to Abiram, sons of Eliab, son of Reuben, in that the earth opened wide her mouth, and swallowed-up them and their households and their tents, —and all the living things that attended them, in the midst of all Israel.
7 Pero tus ojos han visto todas las grandes obras del Señor que ha hecho.
For yours, are the eyes that have seen every great deed of Yahweh, —which he hath done.
8 Así que guarden todas las órdenes que les doy hoy, para que puedan ser fuertes, y entren y tomen posesión de la tierra que van a conquistar;
Therefore shall ye keep all the commandment which I am commanding thee, today, —that ye may be strong, and so enter and possess the land, whither ye are passing over to possess it;
9 Y para que se alarguen sus días en la tierra que el SEÑOR juró a sus padres y a sus descendientes después de ellos, una tierra que fluye leche y miel.
and that ye may prolong your days upon the soil which Yahweh sware unto your fathers, to give unto them and unto their seed, —a land flowing with milk and honey.
10 Porque la tierra a la que vas no es como la tierra de Egipto de donde viniste, donde sembraron sus semillas y regabas con el pie, como una huerta de hortalizas:
For the land which thou art entering to, possess, not like the land of Egypt, it is, from whence ye came out, —where thou didst sow thy seed, and then water it with thy foot, like a garden of herbs;
11 Pero la tierra a la que vas es tierra de colinas y valles, regada por la lluvia del cielo:
but the land whereinto ye are passing over to, possess it, is a land of hills, and valleys, —which of the rain of the heavens, doth drink water:
12 Una tierra que el Señor su Dios cuida: los ojos del Señor su Dios están en ella en todo momento desde un fin de año hasta el otro.
a land which Yahweh thy God careth for, —continually are the eyes of Yahweh thy God upon it, from the beginning of the year, even unto the end of the year.
13 Y sucederá que si realmente escuchan las órdenes que les presento hoy, amar al Señor su Dios y adorarlo con todo tu corazón y toda tu alma,
And it shall come to pass, if ye will hearken, unto my commandments, which, I am commanding you to-day, —to love Yahweh your God, and to serve him, with, all your heart, and with all your soul,
14 Luego enviaré lluvia a su tierra en el momento adecuado, las lluvias tempranas y las lluvias tardías, para que puedan obtener su grano, su vino y su aceite.
then [saith he] I will give the rain of your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain; so shalt thou gather in thy corn, and thy new wine and thine oil;
15 Y daré pasto en tus campos para tu ganado, para que tengas alimento en toda su extensión.
and I will give grass in thy field for thy cattle, —and thou shalt eat and be satisfied.
16 Pero cuiden sus corazones no se vuelvan hacia caminos falsos para que se conviertan en siervos y adoradores de otros dioses;
Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be befooled, —and ye turn aside and serve other gods, and bow down to them.
17 Porque si lo hacen, la ira del Señor arderá contra ustedes, y el cielo se cerrará para que no llueva y la tierra no dé fruto; y en muy poco tiempo morirán en la buena tierra que el Señor les está dando.
So would the anger of Yahweh kindle upon you and he would shut up the heavens, that there should be no rain, and the ground, would not yield her increase, —so should ye perish speedily, from off the good land, which Yahweh is giving unto you.
18 Así que mantengan estas palabras en lo profundo de su corazón y de su alma, y átalas como señal en sus manos y en su frente;
Therefore shall ye lay these my words upon your heart, and upon your soul, —and bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall serve as bands between your eyes;
19 Enseñen a sus hijos y hablándoles de ellas cuando estén descansando en su casa o caminando por el camino, cuando vayan a dormir y cuando se levanten;
and ye shall teach them unto your children by speaking of them, —when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down and when thou risest up;
20 Escríbanlas en los pilares de sus casas y en las puertas de sus pueblos:
and thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house and within thy gates:
21 Para que sus días, y los días de sus hijos, se prolonguen en la tierra que el Señor, por su juramento a sus padres, dijo que les daría, como los días de los cielos eternos.
that your days may multiply, and the days of your children, upon the soil which Yahweh sware unto your fathers, to give unto them, —like the days of the heavens upon the earth.
22 Porque si se ocupan de guardar todas las órdenes que les doy, y de hacerlas; Amar al Señor su Dios y andar en todos sus caminos y serle fiel,
For if ye do, indeed keep, all this commandment which I am commanding you to do it, —to love Yahweh your God, to Walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him,
23 Entonces el Señor enviará a estas naciones en fuga delante de ustedes, y ustedes tomarán las tierras de naciones más grandes y más fuertes que ustedes.
then will Yahweh dispossess all these nations, from before you, —and ye shall dispossess nations greater and stronger than ye:
24 Todo lugar donde pongan su pie será de ustedes: desde el desierto y el Líbano, desde el río, el río Eufrates hasta el Gran Mar, serán los límites de su tierra. Q
every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread yours, shall it be, —from the desert and the Lebanon from the river—the river Euphrates, even unto the hinder sea, shall be your boundary.
25 Todas las personas se doblegaran ante ustedes: porque Él Señor su Dios les pondrá miedo en toda la tierra por donde pases, como él ha dicho.
No man shall stand before you, —the dread of you and the fear of you, will Yahweh your God put forth over the face of all the land whereon ye shall tread, as he spake unto you.
26 Hoy les presento una bendición y una maldición:
See! I am setting before you to-day, —a blessing, and a curse:
27 La bendición si escuchan las órdenes del Señor su Dios, que les doy en este día:
the blessing, when ye shall hearken unto the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I am commanding you to-day;
28 Y la maldición, si no escuchan las órdenes del Señor su Dios, sino que se apartan del camino que les he puesto hoy, y persiguen a otros dioses que no han conocido.
and the curse if ye, shall not hearken unto the commandments of Yahweh your God, but shall turn aside out of the way which I am commanding you to-day, —to go after other gods which ye know not.
29 Y cuando el Señor su Dios los haya llevado a la tierra de su herencia, deben poner la bendición en el Monte Gerizim y la maldición en el Monte Ebal.
And it shall come to pass when Yahweh thy God shall bring thee into the land which thou art entering to possess, then shalt thou put the blessing, upon Mount Gerizim, and the curse, upon Mount Ebal.
30 ¿No están al otro lado del Jordán, mirando hacia el oeste, en la tierra de los cananeos, frente a Gilgal, por el árbol sagrado de More?
Are, they, not over the Jordan on the way towards the entering in of the sun, in the land of the Canaanite who dwelleth in the plain over against Gilgal beside the Teacher’s Terebinths?
31 Porque estás a punto de pasar por el Jordán para tomar la herencia que el Señor su Dios les está dando, y será su lugar de descanso.
For ye are passing over the Jordan, to enter to possess the land which Yahweh your God, is giving unto you, —so shall ye possess it and dwell therein.
32 Y deben tener cuidado de guardar todas las leyes y las decisiones que les presento hoy.
Therefore shall ye observe to do all the statutes and the regulations, —which I am setting before you to-day.
