Daniel 4

1 Nabucodonosor, el rey, a todos los pueblos, naciones y lenguas que viven en toda la tierra: Que se incremente tu paz.

King Nebuchadnezzar, to people of every nation and language in the whole world: I wish you well!

2 Me ha parecido bien aclarar las señales y maravillas que el Dios Altísimo ha hecho conmigo.

It is my pleasure to share with you an account of the signs and wonders the Most High God has done for me.

3 ¡Qué grandes son sus señales! ¡Y cuán lleno de poder están sus maravillas! su reino es un reino eterno y su gobierno continúa de generación en generación.

His signs are incredible. His wonders are amazing! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom, and his rule will last for all generations!

4 Yo, Nabucodonosor, estaba descansando en mi lugar, y todo me iba bien en mi gran casa.

I, Nebuchadnezzar, was doing well at home, living happily in my palace.

5 Vi un sueño que me causó un gran temor; Estaba preocupado por las imágenes de mi mente estando en mi cama y por las visiones de mi cabeza.

But then one night I had a dream that really scared me—I saw visions that terrified me while I lay in my bed.

6 Y ordené a todos los sabios de Babilonia que vinieran delante de mí para que me hicieran saber el significado de mi sueño.

So I ordered all the wise men of Babylon brought before me to explain the dream to me.

7 Entonces llegaron a mí los hechiceros, los adivinos, los caldeos y los astrólogos; y les presenté el sueño, pero no me dieron el significado.

When the magicians, enchanters, astrologers, and diviners came in I told them the dream, but they couldn't explain to me what it meant.

8 Pero finalmente Daniel entró ante mi, el que se llama Beltsasar, después del nombre de mi dios, y en quien está el espíritu de los dioses santos; y le conté el sueño, diciendo:

In the end Daniel came before me and I told him the dream. (He is also called Belteshazzar after my god, and he has the spirit of the holy gods in him.)

9 Oh Beltsasar, maestro de los magos, porque estoy seguro de que el espíritu de los dioses santos están en ti, y no se te oculta ningún misterio; Este es el sueño que vi: aclárame su significado.

“Belteshazzar, chief of magicians,” I said, “I certainly know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you and that no mystery is difficult for you to explain. So tell me about what I saw in my dream and explain what it means.

10 Estando en mi cama vi una visión: había un árbol en medio de la tierra, y estaba muy alto.

As I lay in bed dreaming, I saw a tree in the middle of the earth—a really large tree.

11 Y el árbol se hizo alto y fuerte, extendiéndose hasta el cielo, y para ser visto desde los confines de la tierra.

It grew strong and tall, reaching high into the sky so it could be seen by everyone in the whole world.

12 Sus hojas eran hermosas y tenía mucho fruto, y en él había comida suficiente para todos; las bestias del campo tenían sombra debajo, y las aves del cielo descansaban en sus ramas, y daba de comer a todos. cosas vivas.

Its leaves were beautiful, and it was full of fruit for all to eat. Wild animals rested in its shade, and birds nested in its branches. It fed all living creatures.

13 En las visiones de mi mente, que vi estando en mi cama, vi a un vigilante, un santo, que descendía del cielo,

As I went on dreaming, lying on my bed, I saw a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven.

14 Clamando a gran voz; y esto es lo que dijo: Que se corte el árbol y que se rompan sus ramas; que se quiten las hojas y que la fruta se envíe en todas direcciones; que las bestias se alejen de debajo de ella y los pájaros de sus ramas.

He cried out in a loud voice, ‘Cut down the tree and chop off its branches! Shake off its leaves and scatter its fruit! Drive the animals away from its shade, and scare off the birds from its branches.

15 Pero mantenga su tronco y sus raíces aún en la tierra, incluso con una cadena de hierro y bronce; déjelo comer la hierba joven del campo, y que se moje con el rocío del cielo, y que su posesión esté con las bestias.

But leave the stump and its roots in the ground, and bind it with iron and bronze, surrounded by the new grass of the field. Let him become soaked with the dew of heaven, and let him live with the animals outside in the undergrowth.

16 Sea cambiado su corazón de un hombre, y se le dé el corazón de una bestia; y que pasen siete años por él.

Let his mind become like that of an animal. Let him be like this for seven times.

17 Esta orden es fijada por los vigilantes santos, y la decisión es por la palabra de los santos; para que los vivos tengan la certeza de que el Altísimo gobierna el reino de los hombres y se lo da a cualquier hombre en su placer, levantando sobre él al más bajo de los hombres.

This is the decree conveyed by the watchers, the verdict declared by the holy ones in order that everyone alive may know that the Most High rules over human kingdoms. He gives them to whoever he chooses—he puts the most humble individuals in charge.’

18 Este es sueño que vi, el rey Nabucodonosor; y tú, oh Beltsasar, aclara el significado de esto, porque todos los sabios de mi reino no pueden aclararme el significado; pero tu puedes, porque el espíritu de los dioses santos está en ti.

This is what I, King Nebuchadnezzar, saw in my dream. Now it's up to you, Belteshazzar, to give me the explanation as you have before. None of the wise men in my kingdom could explain it to me. But you can, because the spirit of the holy gods is in you.”

19 Entonces Daniel, cuyo nombre era Beltsasar, estuvo estupefacto, sus pensamientos lo turbaron. El rey respondió y dijo: Beltsasar, no te preocupes por el sueño ni por el significado del mismo. Beltsasar, respondiendo, dijo: Mi señor, que el sueño sea sobre tus enemigos y su significado sobre aquellos que están en tu contra.

When Daniel (also called Belteshazzar) heard this, he was upset for a while, disturbed as he thought about it. The king told him, “Belteshazzar, don't be worried about the dream and what it means.” “My lord, I only wish this dream was for those who hate you and the explanation for your enemies,” Daniel replied.

20 El árbol que viste, que se hizo alto y fuerte, extendiéndose hasta el cielo y visto desde los confines de la tierra;

“The tree you saw was growing strong and tall, reaching high into the sky so it could be seen by everyone in the whole world.

21 Que tenía hojas hermosas y mucha fruta, y tenía comida para todos; debajo del cual vivían las bestias del campo, y en las ramas de las cuales las aves del cielo tenían sus lugares de descanso:

Its leaves were beautiful, and it was full of fruit for all to eat. Wild animals lived under its shade, and birds nested in its branches.

22 Eres tú, oh Rey, quien te has vuelto grande y fuerte: porque tu poder aumenta y se extiende hasta el cielo, y tu gobierno hasta el fin de la tierra.

This is you, Your Majesty. You have grown strong, your power has become so great that it has reached high into the sky, and your rule extends to the ends of the earth.

23 Y en cuanto a la visión que el rey vio de un vigilante, un santo, que descendía del cielo, diciendo: Que el árbol sea cortado y entregado a la destrucción;

Then Your Majesty saw a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven who said, ‘Cut down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump and its roots in the ground, and bind it with iron and bronze, surrounded by the new grass of the field. Let him become soaked with the dew of heaven and let him live with the animals outside in the undergrowth. Let his mind become like that of an animal. Let him be like this for seven times.’

24 Está es la interpretación de esto, oh Rey, y es la decisión del Altísimo lo que ha venido sobre mi señor el rey:

This is what it means, Your Majesty, and what the Most High has decreed will happen to my lord the king.

25 Para que te envíen de entre los hombres, para que estés con las bestias del campo; te darán hierba para tu comida como los bueyes, y serás empapado con el rocío del cielo, y pasarán siete años por ti, hasta que declares que el Altísimo es el gobernante en el reino de los hombres, y lo da a cualquier hombre a su gusto.

You will be driven away from human society and you will live with the wild animals. You will eat grass like the cattle, and you will be soaked with the dew of heaven. You will be like this for seven times until you acknowledge that the Most High rules over human kingdoms, and that he gives them to those he chooses.

26 Y sobre la orden de dejar el tronco con raíces del árbol, tu reino estará a firme para ti después de que sepas que los cielos están gobernando.

However, as it was decreed, the stump and its roots were to be left in the ground. Your kingdom will be restored to you when you acknowledge that Heaven rules.

27 Por esta causa, oh Rey, deja que mi sugerencia sean correctas para ti, y que tus pecados sean cubiertos por la justicia y tu maldad por la misericordia hacia los pobres, para que el tiempo de tu prosperidad sea más largo.

So, Your Majesty, please take my advice. Stop sinning and do what's right. End your iniquities and be merciful to the oppressed. Maybe then things will continue to go well for you.”

28 Todo esto vino sobre él rey Nabucodonosor.

(However, all this did happen to King Nebuchadnezzar.

29 Al cabo de doce meses, caminaba sobre el techo de su gran casa en Babilonia.

Twelve months later he was walking on the roof of the royal palace in Babylon.

30 El rey respondió y dijo: ¿No es esta la gran Babilonia que hice para casa del reino, por la fuerza de mi poder y por la gloria de mi dignidad?

He said, “I was the one who built this great city of Babylon! By my own great power I built it as my royal residence for my majestic glory!”

31 Mientras la palabra aún estaba en la boca del rey, una voz bajó del cielo, diciendo: Oh Rey Nabucodonosor, a ti se dice: El reino se ha ido de ti:

The words were still on the king's lips when a voice came from heaven, “King Nebuchadnezzar, this is what is decreed concerning you: the kingdom has been taken away from you.

32 Y te enviarán de entre los hombres, para que estés con las bestias del campo; te darán hierba para tu comida como los bueyes, y pasarán siete años por ti hasta que reconozcas de que el Altísimo gobierna el reino de los hombres y se lo da a cualquier hombre a su gusto.

You will be driven away from human society and you will live with the wild animals. You will eat grass like the cattle, and you will become soaked with the dew of heaven. You will be like this for seven times until you acknowledge that the Most High rules over human kingdoms, and that he gives them to whoever he chooses.”

33 Esa misma hora se puso en vigencia la orden sobre Nabucodonosor; y fue enviado de entre los hombres, y tenía hierba para comer como los bueyes, y su cuerpo estaba mojado con el rocío del cielo, hasta que su cabello se volvió como las plumas de las águilas y sus uñas sean como las de los pájaros.

Immediately the decree was fulfilled, and Nebuchadnezzar was driven away from human society. He ate grass like the cattle, and his body was soaked with the dew of heaven. His hair grew matted like a vulture, and his nails like bird claws.)

34 Y al final de los días, Nabucodonosor, alzando los ojos al cielo, recuperé mi razón y, bendiciendo al Altísimo, alabé y glorifiqué al que vive para siempre, cuyo gobierno es un señorío eterno; cuyo reino continúa de generación en generación.

Once the time had passed, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven and my sanity returned to me. I blessed and praised the Most High and worshiped the One who lives forever. His rule is an eternal rule, and his kingdom lasts for all generations.

35 Y todos los pueblos de la tierra son contados como nada; actúa de acuerdo a su voluntad con el ejército del cielo y entre los pueblos de la tierra; no hay nadie que pueda retener su mano ni decirle: ¿Qué haces?

Everyone who lives on earth are as nothing compared to him. He does whatever he chooses among the heavenly host and among those who live on earth. No one can hold him back from what he does, or ask him, “What are you doing?”

36 Al mismo tiempo, mi razón volvió a mí; y para la gloria de mi reino, mi honor y mi gran nombre volvieron a mí; y mis sabios y mis señores se volvieron hacia mí otra vez; y fui restituido en mi reino y tenía más poder que antes.

When my sanity returned, then my kingdom, majesty, and splendor also returned to me. My advisors and nobles came looking for me, and I was restored as ruler over my kingdom, even greater than before.

37 Ahora yo, Nabucodonosor, doy adoración, alabanza y honor al Rey del cielo; porque todas sus obras son verdaderas y sus caminos son correctos: y los que se enorgullecen él los puede humillar.

So now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, honor, and glorify the King of Heaven, for everything he does is right, and his ways are true. He is able to humble those who are proud.
