Daniel 2

1 En el segundo año del gobierno de Nabucodonosor, Nabucodonosor tuvo sueños; y su espíritu se turbó y no podía dormir.

And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.

2 Entonces el rey dio órdenes de que los magos, adivinos, hechiceros, astrólogos y a los caldeos, fueran enviados para aclararle al rey sus sueños. Entonces vinieron y tomaron sus lugares ante el rey.

Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

3 Y el rey les dijo: He tenido un sueño, y mi espíritu está preocupado por el deseo de que el sueño se me haga realidad.

And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.

4 Entonces los caldeos le dijeron al rey en arameo, oh rey, viva para siempre: dale a tus siervos un informe de tu sueño, y te dejaremos claro el sentido del mismo.

Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation.

5 El rey respondió y dijo a los caldeos: Esta es mi decisión: si no me aclaras el sueño y el significado, serán cortados en pedazos y sus casas serán destruidas.

The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.

6 Pero si aclaras el sueño y el significado del mismo, tendrás de mí ofrendas y recompensas y un gran honor; así que déjame claro el sueño y el significado del mismo.

But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.

7 Una segunda vez dijeron en respuesta: Que el rey les dé a sus siervos un relato de su sueño, y aclararemos su interpretación.

They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.

8 El rey respondió y dijo: Estoy seguro de que están tratando de obtener más tiempo, porque ven que mi palabra se ha ido;

The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.

9 Que si no me aclaras mi sueño, solo hay un destino para ustedes; porque has preparado palabras falsas y malvadas para decirme, mientras él tiempo cambia; así que díganme el sueño y así sabré que pueden darme el significado.

But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, [there is but] one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof.

10 Entonces los caldeos dijeron al rey en respuesta: No hay hombre en la tierra capaz de aclarar los asuntos del rey; porque ningún rey, por grande que sea su poder, ha hecho tal pedido a ningún mago, encantador, hechicero o caldeos.

The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king’s matter: therefore [there is] no king, lord, nor ruler, [that] asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.

11 La petición del rey es muy difícil, y no hay otro que pueda aclararle al rey, sino los dioses, cuyo lugar de vida no es con la carne.

And [it is] a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.

12 Debido a esto, el rey estaba enojado y lleno de ira, y dio órdenes para la destrucción de todos los sabios de Babilonia.

For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise [men] of Babylon.

13 Entonces salió la orden de que los sabios fueran ejecutados; y estaban buscando a Daniel y sus amigos para matarlos.

And the decree went forth that the wise [men] should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.

14 Entonces Daniel dio una respuesta con sabiduría y buen sentido a Arioc, el capitán de los hombres armados del rey, que había salido a matar a los sabios de Babilonia;

Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king’s guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise [men] of Babylon:

15 Respondió y le dijo a Arioc: ¡Oh, capitán del rey! ¿Por qué es tan cruel la orden del rey? Entonces Arioc le dio a Daniel una cuenta del motivó.

He answered and said to Arioch the king’s captain, Why [is] the decree [so] hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

16 Y Daniel entró e hizo una petición al rey para que le diera tiempo y él dejaría claro el significado de su sueño al rey.

Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.

17 Y Daniel fue a su casa y les dio a sus amigos Ananías, Misael y Azarías la noticia:

Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:

18 Para que puedan pedir la misericordia del Dios del cielo en la cuestión de este secreto; para que Daniel y sus amigos no sean destruidos con el resto de los sabios de Babilonia.

That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise [men] of Babylon.

19 Entonces el secreto fue aclarado a Daniel en una visión de la noche. Y Daniel dio bendición al Dios del cielo.

Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

20 Y Daniel respondió: Que el nombre de Dios sea alabado por los siglos de los siglos, porque la sabiduría y el poder son suyos:

Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

21 Por él cambian los tiempos y los años: por él quita y pone reyes; da sabiduría a los sabios y conocimiento a los entendidos.

And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

22 Él es el descubridor de cosas profundas y secretas; tiene conocimiento de lo que está en la oscuridad, y la luz mora en él.

He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what [is] in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

23 Te doy alabanza y adoración, oh Dios de mis padres, que me han dado sabiduría y fortaleza, y ahora me han dejado claro lo que te pedíamos; porque nos has dado conocimiento del sueño del rey.

I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast [now] made known unto us the king’s matter.

24 Por esta razón, Daniel fue a Arioc, a quien el rey había ordenado la destrucción de los sabios de Babilonia, y le dijo: No mates a los sabios de Babilonia; llévame delante del rey y yo le dejaré claro el significado del sueño.

Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise [men] of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise [men] of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.

25 Entonces Arioc rápidamente llevó a Daniel ante el rey, y le dijo: Aquí hay un hombre de entre los prisioneros de Judá, que dejará en claro al rey el significado del sueño.

Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.

26 El rey respondió y le dijo a Daniel, que se llamaba Beltsasar: ¿Puedes aclararme el sueño que vi y su significado?

The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name [was] Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?

27 Entonces Daniel dijo en respuesta al rey: Ningún hombre sabio, mago, adivino, encantador, o astrólogo, puede dejar en claro al rey el secreto que está buscando;

Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise [men], the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;

28 Pero hay un Dios en el cielo, el revelador de secretos, y le ha dado al rey Nabucodonosor conocimiento de lo que sucederá en los últimos días. Sus sueños y las visiones de su cabeza en su cama son estos:

But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;

29 En cuanto a ti, oh Rey, los pensamientos que vinieron a tu mente en tu cama fueron sobre lo que sucederá después de esto; y el revelador de secretos te ha dejado claro lo que está por venir.

As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came [into thy mind] upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.

30 En cuanto a mí, este secreto no se me aclara debido a la sabiduría que tengo más que cualquier hombre vivo, sino para que el rey pueda aclarar el significado del sueño, y que usted pueda tener conocimiento de los pensamientos de su corazón.

But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for [any] wisdom that I have more than any living, but for [their] sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.

31 Tú, oh rey, estabas mirando, y había una gran imagen allí. Esta imagen, que era muy grande y cuya gloria era muy brillante, fue colocada ante ti; su apariencia era espantosa.

Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness [was] excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof [was] terrible.

32 En cuanto a esta imagen, su cabeza estaba hecha del mejor oro, su pecho y sus brazos eran de plata, su vientre y sus muslos eran de bronce,

This image’s head [was] of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,

33 Sus piernas de hierro, sus pies eran en parte de hierro y en parte de barro.

His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.

34 Mientras lo mirabas, se cortó una piedra, pero no con las manos, y le dio a la imagen un golpe en los pies, que eran de hierro y tierra, y se rompieron en pedazos.

Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet [that were] of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

35 Entonces el hierro y la tierra, él bronce, la plata y el oro, se aplastaron y se volvieron como el polvo en los pisos donde se tritura el grano en verano; y el viento se los llevó para que no se viera ninguna señal de ellos: y la piedra que dio un golpe a la imagen se convirtió en una gran montaña, cubriendo toda la tierra.

Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

36 Este es el sueño; y le dejaremos claro al rey el significado de esto.

This [is] the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.

37 Tú, oh rey, rey de reyes, a quien el Dios del cielo le ha dado el reino, el poder, la fuerza y la gloria.

Thou, O king, [art] a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.

38 Dondequiera que vivan los hijos de los hombres; en cuyas manos ha dado las bestias del campo y las aves del cielo, y te ha hecho gobernar sobre todas ellas, eres la cabeza de oro.

And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou [art] this head of gold.

39 Y después de ti otro reino, más bajo que tú, vendrá al poder; y un tercer reino, de bronce, que gobierna sobre toda la tierra.

And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.

40 Y el cuarto reino será fuerte como el hierro: porque, como todas las cosas son rotas y vencidas por el hierro, tendrá el poder de quebrantar y destruir todos estos.

And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all [things: ] and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.

41 Y como viste los pies y los dedos de los pies, parte de barro del alfarero y parte del hierro, habrá una división en el reino; pero habrá algo de la fuerza del hierro en él, porque viste el hierro mezclado con barro.

And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.

42 Y como los dedos de los pies estaban en parte de hierro y en parte de barro, así parte del reino será fuerte y parte de él se romperá fácilmente.

And [as] the toes of the feet [were] part of iron, and part of clay, [so] the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.

43 Y como vieron el hierro mezclado con la tierra, se mezclarán con la simiente humana; pero no se unirán entre sí, como el hierro no se mezcla con barro.

And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

44 Y en los días de esos reyes, el Dios del cielo levantará un reino que nunca será destruido, y su poder nunca será entregado en manos de otro pueblo, y todos estos reinos serán quebrantados y vencidos por él, pero mantendrá su lugar para siempre.

And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, [but] it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

45 Porque viste que una piedra fue cortada de la montaña sin manos, y que por ella el hierro y el bronce y la tierra y la plata y el oro se partieron en pedazos, un gran Dios le ha dado al rey conocimiento de lo que ocurrirá en el futuro; el sueño es verdadero y su significado fiel.

Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream [is] certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

46 Entonces el rey Nabucodonosor, cayendo de bruces, rindió culto a Daniel y ordenó que se le diera una ofrenda y especias.

Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.

47 Y el rey respondió a Daniel y le dijo: En verdad, tu Dios es un Dios de dioses y un Señor de reyes, y un revelador de misterios, porque has podido revelar este misterio.

The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth [it is], that your God [is] a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.

48 Entonces el rey engrandeció a Daniel, y le dio ofrendas en gran número, y lo hizo gobernar sobre toda la tierra de Babilonia, y jefe sobre todos los sabios de Babilonia.

Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise [men] of Babylon.

49 Y a petición de Daniel, el rey dio a Sadrac, Mesac y Abed-nego autoridad sobre los negocios de la tierra de Babilonia; pero Daniel se mantuvo cerca de la persona del rey.

Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel [sat] in the gate of the king.
