Colosenses 1

1 Pablo, Apóstol de Jesucristo, por la voluntad de Dios, y Timoteo nuestro hermano,

Paul, an Apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God--and Timothy our brother:

2 A los santos y verdaderos hermanos en Cristo en Colosas: Gracia y paz a ustedes de parte de Dios nuestro Padre y él Señor Jesucristo.

To the people of God and the believing brethren at Colossae who are in Christ. May grace and peace be granted to you from God our Father.

3 Alabamos a Dios el Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, haciendo oración por ustedes en todo momento,

We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, constantly praying for you as we do,

4 Después de oír de su fe en Cristo Jesús, y del amor que tienen por todos los santos,

because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love which you cherish towards all God's people,

5 Por la esperanza que es reservada para ustedes en el cielo; conocimiento de lo que les fue dado antes en la verdadera palabra del evangelio,

on account of the hope treasured up for you in Heaven. Of this hope you have already heard in the Message of the truth of the Good News.

6 Que ha llegado a ustedes, así como en todo el mundo está dando fruto constantemente y creciendo, así lo ha estado haciendo también entre ustedes desde el día en que llegó a sus oídos y tuvieron verdadero conocimiento de la gracia de Dios;

For it has reached you, and remains with you, just as it has also spread through the whole world, yielding fruit there and increasing, as it has done among you from the day when first you heard it and came really to know the grace of God,

7 Como lo han aprendido de Epafras, nuestro muy amado ayudante, quien es un verdadero siervo de Cristo para ustedes,

as you learned it from Epaphras our dearly-loved fellow servant. He is to you a faithful minister of Christ in our stead,

8 Y quien, él mismo, nos dejó claro tu amor en el Espíritu.

and moreover he has informed us of your love, which is inspired by the Spirit.

9 Por esta razón, nosotros, desde el día en que tuvimos noticias de ello, continuamos orando por ustedes, para que puedas estar lleno del conocimiento de su voluntad, con toda la sabiduría y experiencia del Espíritu,

For this reason we also, from the day we first received these tidings, have never ceased to pray for you and to entreat that you may be filled with a clear knowledge of His will accompanied by thorough wisdom and discernment in spiritual things;

10 Viviendo rectamente en la aprobación del Señor, dando fruto en toda buena obra y aumentando en el conocimiento de Dios;

so that your lives may be worthy of the Lord and perfectly pleasing to Him, while you exhibit the results of right action of every sort and grow into a fuller knowledge of God.

11 Fortalecidos en la medida del gran poder de su gloria, para que puedan soportar todos los problemas con fortaleza y paciencia;

Since His power is so glorious, may you be strengthened with strength of every kind, and be prepared for cheerfully enduring all things with patience and long-suffering;

12 Alabando al Padre que nos ha dado parte en la herencia de los santos en la luz;

and give thanks to the Father who has made us fit to receive our share of the inheritance of God's people in Light.

13 Quién nos liberó del poder de las tinieblas y nos dio un lugar en el reino de su amado Hijo.

It is God who has delivered us out of the dominion of darkness, and has transferred us into the Kingdom of His dearly-loved Son,

14 En quien tenemos redención por su sangre, el perdón de los pecados:

in whom we have our redemption--the forgiveness of our sins.

15 Cristo es la imagen visible del Dios invisible que nace antes que todos los seres vivientes,

Christ is the visible representation of the invisible God, the Firstborn and Lord of all creation.

16 Porque en él fueron hechas todas las cosas, en el cielo y en la tierra, cosas vistas y cosas que no se ven, autoridades, señores, gobernantes y potestades; todas las cosas fueron hechas por él y para él;

For in Him was created the universe of things in heaven and on earth, things seen and things unseen, thrones, dominions, princedoms, powers--all were created, and exist through and for Him.

17 Él es antes de todas las cosas, y por él todas las cosas son.

And HE IS before all things and in and through Him the universe is a harmonious whole.

18 Y él es la cabeza del cuerpo, la iglesia: el punto de partida de todas las cosas, el primero en volver de entre los muertos; para que en todas las cosas él tenga el lugar principal.

Moreover He is the Head of His Body, the Church. He is the Beginning, the Firstborn from among the dead, in order that He Himself may in all things occupy the foremost place.

19 Porque a Dios en toda su plenitud le agradó estar con Cristo;

For it was the Father's gracious will that the whole of the divine perfections should dwell in Him.

20 Por medio de él, reconciliando todas las cosas consigo mismo, habiendo hecho la paz por la sangre de su cruz; a través de él, uniendo todas las cosas que están en la tierra como en el cielo.

And God purposed through Him to reconcile the universe to Himself, making peace through His blood, which was shed upon the Cross--to reconcile to Himself through Him, I say, things on earth and things in Heaven.

21 Y ustedes, que en el pasado fueron extranjeros y enemigos con Dios en sus mentes a través de malas obras que hacían, ahora los ha reconciliado

And you, estranged as you once were and even hostile in your minds, amidst your evil deeds,

22 En el cuerpo de su carne a través de la muerte, para que puedan ser santos y sin pecado y libres de todos los males delante de él;

He has now, in His human body, reconciled to God by His death, to bring you, holy and faultless and irreproachable, into His presence;

23 Si se mantienen seguros, basados en la fe, no apartados de la esperanza del mensaje de salvación que han oído, y que fueron dadas a todo ser viviente bajo el cielo; de lo cual yo, Pablo, fui hecho ministro.

if, indeed, you are still firmly holding to faith as your foundation, without ever shifting from your hope that rests on the Good News that you have heard, which has been proclaimed in the whole creation under Heaven, and in which I Paul have been appointed to serve.

24 Ahora tengo gozo en mi dolor por ustedes, y en mi carne paso lo que sea necesario para completar las penas de Cristo, para la salvación de su cuerpo, la iglesia;

Now I can find joy amid my sufferings for you, and I fill up in my own person whatever is lacking in Christ's afflictions on behalf of His Body, the Church.

25 De lo cual me hice siervo por el propósito de Dios que me fue dado para ustedes, de anunciar en forma completa la palabra de Dios,

I have been appointed to serve the Church in the position of responsibility entrusted to me by God for your benefit, so that I may fully deliver God's Message--

26 El secreto que se ha guardado de todos los tiempos y generaciones, pero ahora ha quedado claro para los santos, (aiōn g165)

the truth which has been kept secret from all ages and generations, but has now been revealed to His people, (aiōn g165)

27 A quienes Dios tuvo el placer de dar conocimiento de la riquezas de la gloria de este secreto entre los gentiles, que es Cristo en nosotros, la esperanza de gloria:

to whom it was His will to make known how vast a wealth of glory for the Gentile world is implied in this truth--the truth that 'Christ is in you, the hope of glory.'

28 A quienes estamos predicando; guiando y enseñando a todo hombre con toda sabiduría, para que todo hombre esté completo en Cristo;

Him we preach, admonishing every one and instructing every one, with all possible wisdom, so that we may bring every one into God's presence, made perfect through Christ.

29 Y para este propósito estoy trabajando, utilizando todas mis fuerzas con la ayuda de su poder que está trabajando en mí fuertemente.

To this end, like an earnest wrestler, I exert all my strength in reliance upon the power of Him who is mightily at work within me.
