Amós 8
1 Esto es lo que el Señor Dios me dejó ver: y vi una canasta de frutas de verano.
Thus did Jehovah shew unto me; and behold, a basket of summer-fruit.
2 Y él dijo: Amós, ¿qué ves? Y yo dije: Una canasta de frutas de verano. Entonces el Señor me dijo: El fin ha llegado a mi pueblo Israel; Nunca más se cerrarán mis ojos ante su pecado.
And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer-fruit. And Jehovah said unto me, The end is come upon my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more.
3 Y las canciones de la casa del rey serán gritos de dolor en ese día, dice el Señor Dios: grande será el número de los cadáveres, y en todas partes los sacarán sin decir una palabra.
And the songs of the palace shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord Jehovah. The dead bodies shall be many; in every place they shall be cast forth. Silence!
4 Presten atención a esto, ustedes que están oprimiendo a los pobres, y cuyo propósito es poner fin a los necesitados en la tierra,
Hear this, ye that pant after the needy, even to cause to fail the poor of the land,
5 Diciendo: ¿Cuándo se irá la luna nueva, para que podamos comerciar con granos? y el sábado, para que podamos poner en el mercado los productos de nuestros campos? haciendo la medida pequeña y el precio grande, y comerciando falsamente con pesas falsas;
saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat? making the ephah small and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances for deceit:
6 Para comprar al pobre por plata, y al desvalido por un precio de dos zapatos, y venderemos los desperdicios del grano.
that we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; and that we may sell the refuse of the wheat.
7 El Señor ha jurado por el orgullo de Jacob: Verdaderamente, siempre tendré en cuenta todas sus obras.
Jehovah hath sworn by the glory of Jacob, Certainly I will never forget any of their works.
8 ¿No se estremecerá la tierra de miedo a causa de esto, y todos en ella llorarán? y subirá todo como el río; y será arrojada y disminuirá como el río de Egipto.
Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? And it shall wholly rise up like the Nile; and it shall surge and sink down, as the river of Egypt.
9 Y sucederá en ese día, dice el Señor Dios, que haré que el sol se ponga a la mitad del día, y oscurecerá la tierra a la luz del día.
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord Jehovah, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the land in the clear day.
10 Tus fiestas se convertirán en luto y toda tu melodía en canciones fúnebres; todos estarán vestidos de cilicio y calvice sobre toda cabeza; Haré el llanto como si fuera por un hijo único, y al final como un día amargo.
And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning for an only [son], and the end thereof as a bitter day.
11 Mira, los días se acercan, dice el Señor Dios, cuando enviaré tiempos de gran hambruna en la tierra, no necesidad de comida o deseo de agua, sino de escuchar las palabras del Señor.
Behold, days come, saith the Lord Jehovah, when I will send a famine in the land; not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of Jehovah.
12 E irán vagando de mar en mar, y desde el norte hasta el este, corriendo aquí y allá en busca de la palabra del Señor, y no la encontrarán.
And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north to the east; they shall run to and fro to seek the word of Jehovah, and shall not find it.
13 En aquel día, las bellas vírgenes y los jóvenes se desmayaran por la necesidad de agua.
In that day shall the fair virgins and the young men faint for thirst;
14 Los que hacen juramento por el pecado de Samaria y dicen: Por la vida de tu Dios, oh Dan; y, vive el camino de Beerseba; incluso ellos caerán, nunca más para ser levantados.
they that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, [As] thy god, O Dan, liveth! and, [As] the way of Beer-sheba liveth! even they shall fall, and never rise up again.
