Hechos 28
1 Y cuando estuvimos a salvo, descubrimos que la isla se llamaba Malta.
And having been saved, we recognized that the island is called Melita.
2 Y las personas sencillas que vivían allí eran extraordinariamente amables con nosotros, porque nos prendieron fuego y nos acogieron, porque estaba lloviendo y hacía frío.
And the barbarians extended no small philanthropy to us: for, having kindled a fire, they received us all to it, on account of the recent rain and cold.
3 Pero cuando Pablo tomó unos palos y los puso en el fuego, salió una serpiente, por el calor, y le dio un mordisco en la mano.
And Paul having gathered up a certain bundle of sticks, and placed it on the fire, a viper, having come out from the heat, fastened on his hand.
4 Cuando el pueblo lo vio colgando de su mano, se decían unos a otros: Sin duda, este hombre ha matado a alguien, y aunque se ha alejado a salvo del mar, Dios no lo dejará seguir viviendo.
But when the barbarians saw the beast hanging from his hand, they said to one another, Surely this man is a murderer, whom, having been saved from the sea, justice did not permit to live.
5 Pero sacudiendo a la víbora en el fuego, no recibió ningún daño.
Then indeed, having shaken off the beast into the fire, he suffered no injury:
6 Pero tenían la idea de que lo verían enfermarse o, de repente, cayendo muertos; pero después de esperar un largo tiempo, y viendo que no sufrieron daños, cambiando su opinión, dijeron que era un dios.
and they were looking for him to be about to swell up and suddenly fall down dead. But having looked a long time, and seeing nothing out of place come to him, changing their minds, they said that he was a god.
7 Y cerca de aquel lugar había una tierra, propiedad del principal de la isla, que se llamaba Publio; quien muy amablemente nos llevó a su casa como sus invitados por tres días.
But in the regions around about that place there were farms belonging to the chief man of the island, by name Publius: who, having received us, entertained us courteously three days.
8 Y el padre de Publio estaba enfermo, con una enfermedad del estómago; a quien Pablo fue, y puso sus manos sobre él, con oración, y lo sanó.
And it came to pass, that the father of Publius was lying prostrate with fevers and dysentery: to whom Paul having come in, and prayed, laying hands on him, healed him.
9 Y cuando esto sucedió, todos los demás en la isla que tenían enfermedades vinieron y se sanaron.
And this taking place, the rest also, on the island having diseases, continued to come to him, and be healed;
10 Entonces nos honraron con muchas atenciones, y cuando nos fuimos, pusieron en el barco todo lo que necesitábamos.
who also honored us with many honors; and conferred on us, departing, those things appertaining to use.
11 Y después de tres meses fuimos a navegar en un barco de Alejandría que llevaba la insignia de los dioses Castor y Polux, que había estado en la isla durante el invierno.
And after three months we embarked in an Alexandrian ship, having spent the winter in the island, dedicated to the sons of Jupiter.
12 Y al entrar en el puerto de Siracusa, esperamos allí durante tres días.
And having disembarked into Syracuse, we remained three days;
13 Y desde allí, dando vueltas en una curva, llegamos a Regio; y después de un día, surgió un viento del sur y el día después de llegar a Puteoli:
thence having come circuitously, we arrived into Rhegium. And after one day there being a south wind, we came the second day to Puteoli,
14 Donde nos encontramos con algunos de los hermanos, que nos mantuvieron con ellos por siete días; y así llegamos a Roma.
where having found brethren, we were entreated to remain with them seven days: and thus we came into Rome.
15 Y los hermanos, ya tenían noticias de nosotros, salieron a nuestro encuentro al Foro de Apio y las Tres Tabernas para tener un encuentro con nosotros: y Pablo, al verlos, alabó a Dios y se animó.
And the brethren, hearing the news concerning us, came thence to meet us at the Appian Forum and Three Taverns: whom Paul, seeing, having given thanks to God, took courage.
16 Y cuando entramos en Roma, el centurión entregó a los presos a prefecto militar, y dejaron que Pablo tuviera una casa para él y el hombre armado que lo vigilaba.
And when we came into Rome, it was permitted to Paul to remain to himself with the soldier guarding him.
17 Después de tres días envió a buscar a los jefes de los judíos; y cuando se juntaron, les dijo: Hermanos míos, aunque no había hecho nada contra la gente o los caminos de nuestros padres, he sido entregado preso desde Jerusalén, en manos de los romanos:
And it came to pass, after three days, he called together those who were first of the Jews; and they having assembled, he said to them, I, men, brethren, having done nothing against the people, or the customs of our fathers, was committed a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans;
18 Quienes, cuando me hicieron preguntas, estaban listos para dejarme ir, porque no había una causa para condenarme a muerte.
who judging me, were counseling to release me, because there was nothing worthy of death in me:
19 Pero cuando los judíos protestaron contra ella, tuve que poner mi causa en manos de César; no porque tenga algo que decir en contra de mi nación.
and the Jews speaking against it, I was compelled to appeal to Caesar, not having anything for which to accuse my nation.
20 Pero por esta razón los he llamado, para ver y hablar con ustedes: porque a causa de la esperanza de Israel estoy en estas cadenas.
Then for this cause I have called you, to see you, and talk to you: for on account of the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
21 Y ellos le dijeron: No hemos recibido cartas de Judea sobre ti, y ninguno de los hermanos ha venido a nosotros aquí para dar cuenta o decir algo malo acerca de ti.
And they said to him, Neither have we received letters from Judea concerning you, neither has any one of the brethren coming, proclaimed or spoken anything evil concerning you.
22 Pero tenemos el deseo de escuchar tu opinión: en cuanto a la nueva secta, tenemos conocimiento de que en todos los lugares es atacada.
But we desire to hear from you what you think: for indeed concerning this sect, it is known to us that it is everywhere spoken against.
23 Y cuando un día había sido arreglado, llegaron a su casa en gran número; y les dio enseñanza, dando testimonio del reino de Dios, y teniendo discusiones con ellos acerca de Jesús, de la ley de Moisés y de los profetas, desde la mañana hasta la tarde.
And having appointed a day with him, many came to him into his hired house, to whom witnessing he expounded the kingdom of God, indeed persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses, and the prophets, from morning unto evening.
24 Y algunos estaban de acuerdo con lo que dijo, pero algunos tenían dudas.
And some of them indeed believed the things spoken, but others continued to doubt;
25 Y se fueron, porque había división entre ellos, después que Pablo dijo una cosa: Bien, el Espíritu Santo dijo por el profeta Isaías a vuestros padres:
and they being disharmonious to one another, dispersed, Paul saying one word, that truly the Holy Ghost spoke through the prophet Isaiah to your fathers, saying,
26 Ve a este pueblo y digan: Aunque oigan, no oirán ni entenderan; y viendo, no percibirán,
Go to this people, and say, By hearing ye shall hear, and may not understand; and seeing you shall see, and may not perceive:
27 Porque el corazón de este pueblo se ha engrosado, y sus oídos oyen despacio, y sus ojos están cerrados; por temor a que vean con sus ojos y escuchen con sus oídos y entiendan en sus corazones y se vuelvan a mí, para que yo los sane.
for the heart of this people is waxed gross, and they heard with their ears heavily, and closed their eyes; lest they may see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I shall heal them.
28 Sepan ustedes, entonces, de que la salvación de Dios se envía a los gentiles, y ellos oirán.
Therefore let it be known unto you, that this salvation of God is sent to the Gentiles, and they will hear.
29 Y cuando hubo dicho esto, los judios se fueron teniendo gran discusión entre si.
30 Y por el espacio de dos años, Pablo estaba viviendo en la casa de la que tenía uso, donde él recibía a todos los que iban a verlo,
And he spent a whole biennium in his own hired house, and received all those coming to him,
31 Predicando el reino de Dios y enseñando acerca del Señor Jesús Cristo sin miedo, y no se dieron órdenes de que no lo hiciera.
preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things concerning the Lord Jesus, with all boldness, uninterruptedly.
