Hechos 26

1 Y Agripa le dijo a Pablo: Puedes poner tu causa delante de nosotros. Entonces Pablo, extendiendo su mano, hizo su respuesta, diciendo:

Then Agrippa sayd vnto Paul, Thou art permitted to speake for thy selfe. So Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himselfe.

2 En mi opinión, soy feliz, rey Agripa, de poder dar hoy mi respuesta a todas estas cosas que los judíos dicen en mi contra:

I thinke my selfe happy, King Agrippa, because I shall answere this day before thee of all the things whereof I am accused of the Iewes.

3 Cuánto más, porque eres experto en todas las cuestiones que tienes que ver con los judíos y sus costumbres: así que te pido que me des una audiencia hasta el final.

Chiefly, because thou hast knowledge of all customes, and questions which are among the Iewes: wherefore I beseech thee, to heare me patiently.

4 Todos los judíos tienen conocimiento de mi forma de vida desde mis primeros años, como lo fue desde el principio entre mi nación y en Jerusalén;

As touching my life from my childhood, and what it was from the beginning among mine owne nation at Hierusalem, know all the Iewes,

5 También saben, si quieren dar testimonio, que yo estaba viviendo como fariseo, en esa división de nuestra religión que es la más estricta.

Which knewe me heretofore, euen from my elders (if they would testifie) that after the most straite sect of our religion I liued a Pharise.

6 Y ahora estoy aquí para ser juzgado por la esperanza dada por la palabra de Dios a nuestros padres;

And now I stand and am accused for the hope of the promise made of God vnto our fathers.

7 Promesa que nuestras doce tribus han estado esperando poder alcanzar el cumplimiento adorando a Dios noche y día con todo su corazón. Y en conexión con esta esperanza, ¡soy atacado por los judíos, oh rey!

Whereunto our twelue tribes instantly seruing God day and night, hope to come: for the which hopes sake, O King Agrippa, I am accused of the Iewes.

8 ¿Por qué, en tu opinión, no creen que Dios resucita a los muertos?

Why should it be thought a thing incredible vnto you, that God should raise againe the dead?

9 Porque yo, verdaderamente, era de la opinión de que era correcto para mí hacer una serie de cosas en contra del nombre de Jesús de Nazaret.

I also verely thought in my selfe, that I ought to doe many contrarie things against the Name of Iesus of Nazareth.

10 Y esto que hice en Jerusalén; y encarcele a muchos de los santos, y me dieron autoridad de parte de los principales sacerdotes; y cuando los mataron, di mi voto en contra de ellos.

Which thing I also did in Hierusalem: for many of the Saints I shut vp in prison, hauing receiued authoritie of the hie Priests, and when they were put to death, I gaue my sentence.

11 Y los castigue frecuentemente en todas las sinagogas, forzandolos a negar su fe; y ardiendo de pasión contra ellos, los seguí hasta ciudades lejanas.

And I punished them throughout all the Synagogues, and compelled them to blaspheme, and being more mad against them, I persecuted them, euen vnto strange cities.

12 Entonces, cuando viajaba a Damasco con la autoridad y las órdenes de los principales sacerdotes,

At which time, euen as I went to Damascus with authoritie, and commission from the hie Priests,

13 A la mitad del día, en el camino vi una luz del cielo, más brillante que el sol, que brillaba a mi alrededor y los que viajaban conmigo.

At midday, O King, I sawe in the way a light from heauen, passing the brightnes of the sunne, shine round about mee, and them which went with me.

14 Y cuando caímos al suelo, una voz vino a mí, diciendo en hebreo: Saulo, Saulo, ¿por qué me persigues? Te estas haciendo daño a ti mismo dura cosa te es dar coces contra el aguijón.

So when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voyce speaking vnto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? It is hard for thee to kicke against pricks.

15 Y yo dije: ¿Quién eres tú, Señor? Y el Señor dijo: Yo soy Jesús, a quien estás persiguiendo.

Then I sayd, Who art thou, Lord? And he sayd, I am Iesus whom thou persecutest.

16 Pero levántate, porque he venido a ti para este fin, para hacerte siervo y testigo de las cosas en que has visto, y de aquellos en que me apareceré a ti;

But rise and stand vp on thy feete: for I haue appeared vnto thee for this purpose, to appoint thee a minister and a witnesse, both of the things which thou hast seene, and of the things in the which I will appeare vnto thee,

17 Y te protegeré de tu pueblo y de los gentiles a quienes te envío,

Deliuering thee from this people, and from the Gentiles, vnto whom now I send thee,

18 Para que abran sus ojos, los conviertas de la oscuridad a la luz, y del poder de Satanás a Dios, para que ellos puede tener el perdón de los pecados y una herencia entre los que se hacen santos por la fe en mí.

To open their eyes, that they may turne from darknes to light, and from the power of Satan vnto God, that they may receiue forgiuenes of sinnes, and inheritance among them, which are sanctified by fayth in me.

19 Así que, entonces, rey Agripa, no fui contra la visión del cielo;

Wherefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient vnto the heauenly vision,

20 Pero fui, primero a aquellos en Damasco y Jerusalén, y por todo el país de Judea, y luego a los gentiles, predicando que se arrepintiesen de corazón, para que ellos, convertidos a Dios, pudieran dar, en sus obras, los frutos de un corazón arrepentido.

But shewed first vnto them of Damascus, and at Hierusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Iudea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turne to God, and doe workes worthy amendment of life.

21 Por esta razón, los judíos me llevaron al Templo e intentaron matarme.

For this cause the Iewes caught me in the Temple, and went about to kill me.

22 Y así, con la ayuda de Dios, estoy aquí hoy, dando testimonio de lo pequeño y lo grande, sin decir nada más que lo que los profetas y Moisés dijeron que sucedería;

Neuertheles, I obteined helpe of God, and continue vnto this day, witnessing both to small and to great, saying none other things, then those which the Prophets and Moses did say should come,

23 Que el Cristo pasaría por dolor, y ser el primero en resucitar, anunciaría la luz de salvación tanto a nuestro pueblo como a los gentiles.

To wit, that Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light vnto this people, and to the Gentiles.

24 Y cuando pronunció su respuesta en estas palabras, Festo dijo en voz alta, Pablo, estás fuera de tu cabeza; tu gran aprendizaje te vuelve loco.

And as he thus answered for himselfe, Festus said with a loude voyce, Paul, thou art besides thy selfe: much learning doeth make thee mad.

25 Entonces Pablo dijo: No estoy fuera de mi cabeza, Festo, el más noble, pero mis palabras son verdaderas y sabias.

But he said, I am not mad, O noble Festus, but I speake the wordes of trueth and sobernes.

26 Porque el rey tiene conocimiento de estas cosas, a quien hablo libremente; porque no pienso que ignora nada de esto; porque no se ha hecho en secreto.

For the King knoweth of these things, before whom also I speake boldly: for I am perswaded that none of these things are hidden from him: for this thing was not done in a corner.

27 Rey Agripa, ¿tienes fe en los profetas? Estoy seguro de que tienes.

O King Agrippa, beleeuest thou the Prophets? I know that thou beleeuest.

28 Y Agripa le dijo a Pablo: Un poco más y tú me harás cristiano.

Then Agrippa said vnto Paul, Almost thou perswadest me to become a Christian.

29 Y Pablo dijo: Es mi oración a Dios que, en pequeña o en gran medida, no solo tú, sino que todos los que me escuchan hoy sean como yo soy, pero menos estas cadenas.

Then Paul sayd, I would to God that not onely thou, but also all that heare me to day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

30 Y el rey y el gobernante, y Berenice y los que estaban sentados con ellos se levantaron;

And when he had thus spoken, the King rose vp, and the gouernour, and Bernice, and they that sate with them.

31 Cuando se fueron, se dijeron unos a otros: Este hombre no ha hecho nada digno de muerte o prisión.

And when they were gone apart, they talked betweene themselues, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death, nor of bonds.

32 Y Agripa dijo a Festo: Este hombre podría haber sido liberado, si no hubiera puesto su causa ante el César.

Then sayd Agrippa vnto Festus, This man might haue bene loosed, if hee had not appealed vnto Cesar.
