2 Timoteo 2
1 Entonces, hijo mío, esfuérzate en la gracia que es en Cristo Jesús.
You therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 Y lo que te he dicho ante de varios testigos, da a los de la fe, para que sean maestros de los demás.
And the things that you have heard me say among many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be qualified to teach others as well.
3 Prepárate para vivir sin las comodidades de la vida, como parte del ejército de Cristo Jesús.
Join me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
4 Un hombre guerrero, cuando está con el ejército, se mantiene libre de los negocios de esta vida para que pueda agradar a aquel que lo ha llevado a su ejército.
A soldier refrains from entangling himself in civilian affairs, in order to please the one who enlisted him.
5 Y si un hombre participa en una competencia, no obtiene la corona si no ha cumplido las reglas.
Likewise, a competitor does not receive the crown unless he competes according to the rules.
6 Es correcto que el trabajador en el campo sea el primero en tomar la fruta.
The hardworking farmer should be the first to partake of the crops.
7 Piensa en lo que digo; porque el Señor te dará sabiduría en todas las cosas.
Consider what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all things.
8 Recuerden a Jesucristo, de la simiente de David, que regresó de entre los muertos, como lo atestiguan mis buenas nuevas:
Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David, as proclaimed by my gospel,
9 En el cual soporté las condiciones más duras, incluso cadenas de prisiones, como el que cometió un crimen; pero la palabra de Dios no está encadenada.
for which I suffer to the extent of being chained like a criminal. But the word of God cannot be chained!
10 Pero todo lo sufro por amor a los escogidos, para que tengan salvación en Cristo Jesús con gloria eterna. (aiōnios g166)
For this reason I endure all things for the sake of the elect, so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. (aiōnios g166)
11 Este es un verdadero dicho: si sufrimos la muerte con él, entonces viviremos con él:
This is a trustworthy saying: If we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
12 Si sufrimos con él, entonces estaremos gobernando con él: si decimos que no tenemos conocimiento de él, entonces él dirá que no tiene conocimiento de nosotros:
if we endure, we will also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He will also deny us;
13 Si fuéremos infieles, él permanece fiel, porque no puede negarse a sí mismo.
if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
14 Recuérdales esto, delante de ellos, dándoles órdenes en el nombre del Señor para que no peleen por las palabras, lo cual no tiene ningún beneficio, solo causa perdición a sus oyentes.
Remind the believers of these things, charging them before God to avoid quarreling over words, which succeeds only in leading the listeners to ruin.
15 Estudia con diligencia para presentarte delante de Dios, como un obrero que no tiene ningún motivo de que avergonzarse, y enseña la verdadera palabra de la manera correcta.
Make every effort to present yourself approved to God, an unashamed workman who accurately handles the word of truth.
16 Pero no participes en las malas y necias palabras, porque aquellos que lo hagan irán más lejos en el mal,
But avoid irreverent, empty chatter, which will only lead to more ungodliness,
17 Y sus palabras serán como gangrena en la carne: tales son Himeneo y Fileto;
and the talk of such men will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
18 Hombres cuyas ideas son todas falsas, que dicen que la resurrección ya ha tenido lugar, anulando la fe de algunos.
who have deviated from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already occurred, and they undermine the faith of some.
19 Pero la base sólida de Dios no cambia, teniendo esta señal: El Señor conoce a los suyos; y apártese del mal todos los que invocan el nombre del Señor.
Nevertheless, God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord must turn away from iniquity.”
20 En una gran casa no hay solo vasijas de oro y plata, sino otras de madera y de barro, y algunas que son honradas y otras sin honor.
A large house contains not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay. Some indeed are for honorable use, but others are for common use.
21 Si un hombre se limpia de todo lo malo, será un recipiente para el honor, hecho santo, listo para el uso útil del Señor, listo para todo buen trabajo.
So if anyone cleanses himself of what is unfit, he will be a vessel for honor: sanctified, useful to the Master, and prepared for every good work.
22 Pero aléjate de los deseos de la carne que es fuerte cuando el cuerpo es joven, y busca la justicia, la fe, el amor, la paz, con aquellos que invocan al Señor de un corazón limpio.
Flee from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23 Y descarta las preguntas tontas y descontroladas, viendo que son causa de contienda.
But reject foolish and ignorant speculation, for you know that it breeds quarreling.
24 Porque no es correcto que el siervo del Señor sea contencioso, sino que será amable con todos, preparado para enseñar, tolerando el mal,
And a servant of the Lord must not be quarrelsome, but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, and forbearing.
25 Guiando suavemente a los que se oponen a la enseñanza; si por casualidad Dios les puede dar un cambio de corazón y conocimiento verdadero,
He must gently reprove those who oppose him, in the hope that God may grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.
26 Y así pueden liberarse de la red del Maligno, en que el diablo los tiene cautivos para hacer de ellos lo que quiera.
Then they will come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, who has taken them captive to his will.
