2 Samuel 24
1 Una vez más, la ira del Señor ardía contra Israel, y moviendo a David contra ellos, dijo: Ve, toma el censo de Israel y Judá.
And again the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them saying, Go, number Israel and Judah.
2 Entonces el rey dijo a Joab y a los capitanes del ejército que estaban con él: Ve ahora por todas las tribus de Israel, desde Dan hasta Beerseba, y haz que cuenten a toda la gente, para que pueda estar seguro del número de personas.
And the king said to Joab the captain of the host, who was with him, Go, I pray thee, through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, and count the people, that I may know the number of the people.
3 Y Joab dijo al rey: Cualquiera que sea el número de la gente, que el Señor aumente cien veces más, y que los ojos de mi señor el rey lo vean, pero ¿por qué mi señor el rey toma? placer en hacer esto?
And Joab said to the king, May Jehovah thy God even add to the people, how many soever they be, a hundredfold, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see [it]; but why does my lord the king delight in this thing?
4 Pero la orden del rey era más fuerte que Joab y los capitanes del ejército. Y Joab y los capitanes del ejército salieron del rey para tomar el censo de los hijos de Israel.
But the king's word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the army. And Joab and the captains of the army went out from the presence of the king to count the people of Israel.
5 Y recorrieron el Jordán, y partiendo de Aroer, del pueblo que se encuentra en el centro del valle, se dirigieron a los gaditas y siguieron hasta Jazer;
And they passed over the Jordan, and encamped in Aroer, on the right side of the city that is in the midst of the ravine of Gad, and toward Jaazer.
6 Entonces llegaron a Galaad y a la tierra de los hititas a la tierra baja de Hodsi; y vinieron a Dan, y desde Dan vinieron a Sidón,
And they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtim-hodshi; and came to Dan-jaan, and to the environs of Sidon;
7 Y al pueblo amurallado de Tiro, y a todos los pueblos de los heveos y cananeos: y salieron al sur de Judá en Beer-sheba.
and they came to the fortified city of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites and of the Canaanites; and went out to the south of Judah, to Beer-sheba.
8 Luego de recorrer toda la tierra en todas direcciones, llegaron a Jerusalén al cabo de nueve meses y veinte días.
And they went through all the land, and came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.
9 Y Joab dio al rey el número de todo el pueblo: había en Israel ochocientos mil combatientes capaces de tomar las armas; Y los hombres de Judá fueron quinientos mil.
And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people to the king; and there were of Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men that drew sword; and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.
10 Y después de que el pueblo fue contado, el corazón de David se turbó. Y David dijo al Señor: Grande ha sido mi pecado al hacer esto; Pero ahora, oh Señor, perdona el pecado a tu siervo, porque lo he hecho muy tontamente.
And David's heart smote him after he had numbered the people. And David said to Jehovah, I have sinned greatly in what I have done; and now, I beseech thee, Jehovah, put away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
11 Y se levantó David por la mañana; ahora la palabra del Señor había venido al profeta Gad, vidente de David, diciendo:
And when David arose in the morning, the word of Jehovah came to the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,
12 Ve y dile a David: El Señor dice: Se te ofrecen tres cosas: di cuál de ellas escoges y te lo haré.
Go and say to David, Thus saith Jehovah: I impose on thee three [things]; choose one of them that I may do it unto thee.
13 Entonces Gad se acercó a David, le dijo qué prefieres: ¿Siete años de hambruna en tu tierra? ¿O huir de tus enemigos durante tres meses, mientras te persiguen? ¿O tendrá tres días de peste en tu tierra? piensa y decide qué respuesta debo darle al que me envió.
And Gad came to David, and told him, and said to him, Shall seven years of famine come to thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine adversaries while they pursue thee? or shall there be three days' pestilence in thy land? Now be aware and consider what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
14 Entonces David dijo a Gad: Esta es una decisión difícil para mí: preferimos ir a las manos del Señor, porque grandes son sus misericordias: no me dejes en manos de los hombres.
And David said to Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall, I pray thee, into the hand of Jehovah; for his mercies are great; but let me not fall into the hand of man.
15 Entonces él Señor mandó la peste sobre Israel; desde la mañana hasta el tiempo señalado cuando la enfermedad llegó entre la gente, causando la muerte de setenta mil hombres desde Dan hasta Beerseba.
And Jehovah sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the set time; and there died of the people from Dan even to Beer-sheba seventy thousand men.
16 Y cuando la mano del ángel se extendió en dirección a Jerusalén, para su destrucción, el Señor se arrepintió del mal, y dijo al ángel que estaba enviando destrucción sobre la gente: Basta; no hagas mas Y el ángel del Señor estaba junto donde se trillaba el grano de Arauna, el jebuseo.
And the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it; but Jehovah repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed among the people, It is enough: withdraw now thine hand. And the angel of Jehovah was by the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
17 Y cuando David vio al ángel que estaba causando la destrucción de la gente, le dijo al Señor: En verdad, el pecado es mío. He hecho mal, pero estas son sólo ovejas; ¿qué han hecho? Que tu mano esté contra mí y contra mi familia.
And David spoke to Jehovah when he saw the angel that smote among the people, and said, Behold, it is I that have sinned, and it is I that have committed iniquity; but these sheep, what have they done? let thy hand, I pray thee, be on me, and on my father's house!
18 Y aquel día Gad se acercó a David y le dijo: Sube, y levanta un altar al Señor en el suelo de Arauna, el jebuseo.
And Gad came that day to David, and said to him, Go up, rear an altar to Jehovah in the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
19 Entonces David subió, como Gad había dicho y como el Señor había dado órdenes.
And David, according to the saying of Gad, went up as Jehovah had commanded.
20 Y Arauna, mirando hacia afuera, vio que el rey y sus siervos se acercaban a él; y Arauna salió, y descendió sobre su rostro a la tierra delante del rey.
And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on towards him; and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
21 Y Arauna dijo: ¿Por qué ha venido mi señor el rey a su siervo? Y David dijo: Para darte un precio por tu grano, para que pueda levantar un altar al Señor, y la enfermedad pueda ser detenida entre la gente.
And Araunah said, Why is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshing-floor of thee, to build an altar to Jehovah, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
22 Y Arauna dijo a David: Que mi señor, el rey, tome todo lo que le parezca, y haga una ofrenda. Mira, aquí están los bueyes para la ofrenda quemada, y los trillos y los yugos de buey por madera:
And Araunah said to David, Let my lord the king take and offer up that which is good in his sight: see, [here are] oxen for the burnt-offering, and the threshing-sledges and implements of the oxen for wood.
23 Todo esto te da el siervo de mi señor el rey. Y Arauna dijo: Que el Señor tu Dios esté complacido con tu ofrenda.
All these things, O king, doth Araunah give to the king. And Araunah said to the king, Jehovah thy God accept thee.
24 Y el rey dijo a Arauna: No, pero te daré un precio por ello; No daré al Señor mi Dios las ofrendas quemadas por las cuales no he dado nada. Entonces David tomó el piso de grano y los bueyes por cincuenta siclos de plata.
And the king said to Araunah, No; but I will in any case buy [them] of thee at a price: neither will I offer up to Jehovah my God burnt-offerings without cost. And David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
25 Y allí David levantó un altar al Señor, haciendo ofrendas quemadas y ofrendas de paz. Entonces el Señor escuchó su oración por la tierra, y la enfermedad terminó en Israel.
And David built there an altar to Jehovah, and offered up burnt-offerings and peace-offerings. And Jehovah was propitious to the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.
