2 Samuel 13

1 Después de esto, se supo que Absalón, el hijo de David, tenía una hermosa hermana, cuyo nombre era Tamar; y el hijo de David, Amnón, estaba enamorado de ella.

Now after this, it came about that Absalom, David's son, had a beautiful sister, whose name was Tamar; and David's son Amnon was in love with her.

2 Y estaba tan profundamente enamorado que se enfermó a causa de su hermana Tamar; porque ella era virgen, por lo que a Amnón le resultaba difícil hacerle algo.

And he was so deeply in love that he became ill because of his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin, and so it seemed hard to Amnon to do anything to her.

3 Pero Amnón tenía un amigo que se llamaba Jonadab, el hijo de Simea, el hermano de David: y Jonadab era un hombre muy sabio.

But Amnon had a friend whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David's brother: and Jonadab was a very wise man.

4 Y él le dijo: Oh hijo del rey, ¿por qué te debilitas cada día? ¿No dirás cuál es tu problema? Y Amnón le dijo: Estoy enamorado de Tamar, la hermana de mi hermano Absalón.

And he said to him, O son of the king, why are you getting thinner day by day? will you not say what your trouble is? And Amnon said to him, I am in love with Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.

5 Entonces Jonadab le dijo: Ve a tu cama y que parezca que estás enfermo. Y cuando tu padre venga a verte, dile: Deja que venga mi hermana Tamar, y prepare la comida delante de mí, para que pueda verla y comerla de su mano.

Then Jonadab said to him, Go to your bed, and let it seem that you are ill: and when your father comes to see you, say to him, Let my sister Tamar come and give me bread, and get the food ready before my eyes, so that I may see it and take it from her hand.

6 Entonces, Amnón se acostó y se puso enfermo: y cuando el rey fue a verlo, Amnón le dijo al rey: Por favor, que mi hermana Tamar venga y me prepare uno o dos pasteles delante de mis ojos, para que Puedo tomar comida de su mano.

So Amnon went to bed and made himself seem ill: and when the king came to see him, Amnon said to the king, Please let my sister Tamar come and make me one or two cakes before my eyes, so that I may take food from her hand.

7 Luego, David envió a la casa a buscar a Tamar y le dijo: Ve ahora a la casa de tu hermano Amnón y consigue una comida para él.

Then David sent to the house for Tamar and said, Go now to your brother Amnon's house and get a meal for him.

8 Entonces Tamar fue a la casa de su hermano Amnón; y él estaba en la cama. Y ella tomó pasta e hizo pasteles ante sus ojos, cocinándolos sobre el fuego.

So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he was in bed. And she took paste and made cakes before his eyes, cooking them over the fire.

9 Entonces ella tomó la olla y puso los pasteles delante de él, pero él no los tomó. Y Amnón dijo: Deja que todos se vayan de mí. Así que todos salieron.

And she took the cooking-pot, and put the cakes before him, but he would not take them. And Amnon said, Let everyone go away from me. So they all went out.

10 Entonces Amnón dijo a Tamar: Toma la comida y entra en mi habitación, para que pueda tomarla de tu mano. Así que Tamar tomó los pasteles que había hecho y se fue con ellos al dormitorio de su hermano Amnón.

Then Amnon said to Tamar, Take the food and come into my bedroom, so that I may take it from your hand. So Tamar took the cakes she had made and went with them into her brother Amnon's bedroom.

11 Cuando ella los tomó para dárselos, él la abrazó y le dijo: Ven a la cama, hermana mía.

And when she took them to give them to him, he put his arms round her and said, Come to bed, my sister.

12 Respondiendo, ella dijo: Oh hermano mío, no me avergüences; no está bien que se haga algo así en Israel. No hagas tal infamia.

And answering him, she said, O my brother, do not put shame on me; it is not right for such a thing to be done in Israel: do not this evil thing.

13 ¿Qué será de mí en mi vergüenza? y en cuanto a ti, serás despreciable por todo Israel. Ahora, ve y haz tu pedido al rey, porque él no me alejará de ti.

What will become of me in my shame? and as for you, you will be looked down on with disgust by all Israel. Now then, go and make your request to the king, for he will not keep me from you.

14 Pero él no le prestaría atención a lo que ella decía, pero siendo más fuerte que ella, la tomó por la fuerza y la violó.

But he would not give attention to what she said: but being stronger than she, he took her by force, and had connection with her.

15 Entonces Amnón estaba lleno de odio por ella, odiándola con un odio más grande que su amor anterior por ella. Y él le dijo: Levántate y vete.

Then Amnon was full of hate for her, hating her with a hate greater than his earlier love for her. And he said to her, Get up and be gone.

16 Y ella le dijo: No es así, hermano mío, porque este gran error al despedirme es peor que lo que me hiciste antes. Pero él no le prestó atención.

And she said to him, Not so, my brother, for this great wrong in sending me away is worse than what you did to me before. But he gave no attention to her.

17 Entonces dio un grito al siervo que lo estaba esperando y le dijo: Saca a esta mujer y que la puerta quede cerrada con llave.

Then he gave a cry to the servant who was waiting on him and said, Put this woman out, and let the door be locked after her.

18 Ahora tenía puesta una túnica larga, como en tiempos pasados que vestían las hijas vírgenes del rey. Entonces el criado la sacó, cerrando la puerta con llave.

Now she had on a long robe, such as in past times the king's virgin daughters were dressed in. Then the servant put her out, locking the door after her.

19 Y Tamar, en su dolor, puso polvo sobre su cabeza; y ella puso su mano en su cabeza y se fue llorando a gritos.

And Tamar, in her grief, put dust on her head; and she put her hand on her head and went away crying loudly.

20 Y su hermano Absalón le dijo: ¿Ha estado tu hermano Amnón contigo? Pero ahora, deja que termine tu llanto, hermana mía, él es tu hermano, no te tomes esto en serio. Entonces Tamar siguió viviendo devastada en la casa de su hermano Absalón.

And her brother Absalom said to her, Has your brother Amnon been with you? but now, let there be an end to your crying, my sister: he is your brother, do not take this thing to heart. So Tamar went on living uncomforted in her brother's house.

21 Pero cuando el rey David tuvo noticias de todas estas cosas, se enojó mucho; pero no causó problemas a su hijo Amnón, porque era querido por David, siendo su hijo mayor.

But when King David had news of all these things he was very angry; but he did not make trouble for Amnon his son, for he was dear to David, being his oldest son.

22 Pero Absalón no le dijo nada a su hermano Amnón, ni bueno ni malo: porque estaba lleno de odio por él, porque se había llevado a su hermana Tamar por la fuerza.

But Absalom said nothing to his brother Amnon, good or bad: for he was full of hate for him, because he had taken his sister Tamar by force.

23 Después de dos años completos, Absalón hizo que los hombres cortaran la lana de sus ovejas en Baal Hazor, que está cerca de Efraín, e invitó todos los hijos del rey a su banquete.

Now after two full years, Absalom had men cutting the wool of his sheep in Baal-hazor, which is near Ephraim: and he sent for all the king's sons to come to his feast.

24 Entonces Absalón se acercó al rey y le dijo: Mira, mis siervos están cortando la lana de sus ovejas; ¿Se complacerá el rey y sus siervos acompañarme?

And Absalom came to the king and said, See now, your servant is cutting the wool of his sheep; will the king and his servants be pleased to come?

25 Y el rey dijo a Absalón: No, hijo mío, no vamos todos, o el número será demasiado grande para ti. E hizo nuevamente su petición, pero no quiso ir, pero le dio su bendición.

And the king said to Absalom, No, my son, let us not all go, or the number will be over-great for you. And he made his request again, but he would not go, but he gave him his blessing.

26 Entonces Absalón dijo: Si no quieres ir, deja que mi hermano Amnón vaya con nosotros. Y el rey le dijo: ¿Hay alguna razón para que vaya contigo?

Then Absalom said, If you will not go, then let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said to him, Is there any reason for him to go with you?

27 Pero Absalón siguió pidiéndole hasta que dejó que Amnón y todos los hijos del rey lo acompañaran. Y Absalón hizo una gran fiesta como una fiesta para un rey.

But Absalom went on requesting him till he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him. And Absalom made a great feast like a feast for a king.

28 Ahora Absalón había dado órdenes a sus sirvientes, diciendo: Ahora, tomen nota cuando el corazón de Amnón se alegra con el vino; y cuando les diga: ataca a Amnón, mátalo sin miedo: ¿no te he dado órdenes? Séan fuertes y valientes.

Now Absalom had given orders to his servants, saying, Now take note when Amnon's heart is glad with wine; and when I say to you, Make an attack on Amnon, then put him to death without fear: have I not given you orders? be strong and without fear.

29 Así que los sirvientes de Absalón hicieron con Amnón como Absalón les había dado órdenes. Entonces todos los hijos del rey se levantaron, y todos los hombres se subieron a su mula y salieron huyendo.

So Absalom's servants did to Amnon as Absalom had given them orders. Then all the king's sons got up, and every man got on his beast and went in flight.

30 Ahora, mientras iban en camino, se le dio a David la noticia de que Absalón había dado muerte a todos los hijos del rey y que ninguno de ellos aún vivía.

Now while they were on their way, news was given to David that Absalom had put to death all the sons of the king and that not one of them was still living.

31 Entonces el rey se levantó con gran dolor, tendiéndose sobre la tierra; y todos sus siervos estaban a su lado, con sus ropas rasgadas.

Then the king got up in great grief, stretching himself out on the earth: and all his servants were by his side, with their clothing parted.

32 Y Jonadab, el hijo de Simea, hermano de David, dijo: No se dé a mi señor la idea de que todos los hijos del rey han sido ejecutados; porque sólo Amnón ha muerto: esto lo propuso Absalom desde el día en que tomó a su hermana Tamar por la fuerza.

And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David's brother, said, Let not my lord have the idea that all the sons of the king have been put to death; for only Amnon is dead: this has been purposed by Absalom from the day when he took his sister Tamar by force.

33 Así que ahora, no permita que mi señor el rey tome esto en serio, con la idea de que todos los hijos del rey están muertos, porque sólo Amnón está muerto.

So now, let not my lord the king take this thing to heart, with the idea that all the king's sons are dead: for only Amnon is dead.

34 Pero Absalón salió huyendo. Y el joven que vigilaba, alzando los ojos, vio que una gran banda de personas bajaba la pendiente por el camino que estaba a sus espaldas; y el vigilante se acercó y le dijo al rey, diciendo: Vi a hombres que bajaban por el camino, desde la ladera.

But Absalom went in flight. And the young man who kept the watch, lifting up his eyes, saw that a great band of people was coming down the slope by the way of the Horons; and the watchman came and gave word to the king, saying, I saw men coming down by the way of the Horons, from the hillside.

35 Y Jonadab dijo al rey: Mira, vienen los hijos del rey; Como dijo tu siervo, así es.

And Jonadab said to the king, See, the king's sons are coming; as your servant said, so it is.

36 Y mientras él hablaba, los hijos del rey vinieron, llorando y gritando: y el rey y todos sus siervos lloraron amargamente.

And while he was talking, the king's sons came, with weeping and loud cries: and the king and all his servants were weeping bitterly.

37 Entonces Absalón salió huyendo y vino a Talmai, el hijo de Amiud, el rey de Gesur, donde estuvo durante tres años.

So Absalom went in flight and came to Talmai, the son of Ammihud, the king of Geshur, where he was for three years.

38 Y el rey estaba sufriendo por su hijo todo el tiempo.

And the king was sorrowing for his son all the time.

39 Y el corazón de David deseaba ver a Absalón, pues ya había sido consolado por la muerte de Amnón.

And the heart of David was wasted with desire for Absalom: for he was comforted for the death of Amnon.
