2 Samuel 11
1 Ahora en la primavera, cuando los reyes salen a la guerra, David envió a Joab y sus siervos y todo Israel con él; y destruyeron la tierra de los hijos de Amón, y tomaron su posición ante Rabá, sitiaron. Pero David se quedó en Jerusalén.
Forsothe it was doon, whanne the yeer turnede ayen in that tyme wherynne kyngis ben wont to go forth to batels, Dauid sente Joab, and with hym hise seruauntis, and al Israel; and thei distrieden the sones of Amon, and bisegiden Rabath; forsothe Dauid dwellide in Jerusalem.
2 Una tarde, David se levantó de su cama y, mientras caminaba por el techo de la casa del rey, vio a una mujer bañándose; Y la mujer era muy hermosa.
While these thingis weren doon, it befelde, that Dauid roos in a dai fro his bed after mydday, and walkide in the soler of the kyngis hows; and he siy a womman waischynge hir silf euen ayens on hir soler; sotheli the womman was ful fair.
3 Y David envió a averiguar quién era la mujer. Y uno dijo: ¿No es ésta Betsabé, la hija de Eliam, la esposa de Urías, el hitita?
Therfor the kyng sente, and enqueride, what womman it was; and it was teld to hym, that sche was Bersabee, the douytir of Heliam, and was the wijf of Vrye Ethei.
4 Entonces David la envió y la tomó; y ella vino a él, y él la llevó a su cama. Después de que se purificó de su inmundicia; luego regresó a su casa.
Therfor bi messangeris sent Dauid took hir; and whanne sche entride to hym, he slepte with hir, and anoon sche was halewid fro hir vnclenesse.
5 Y la mujer quedó embarazada. y ella le dijo a David que estaba embarazada.
And sche turnede ayen in to hir hows, with child conseyued; and sche sente, and telde to Dauid, and seide, Y haue conseyued.
6 Entonces envió David a Joab, diciendo: Envíame a Urías el hitita. Y Joab envió a Urías a David.
Forsothe Dauid sente to Joab, and seide, Sende thou Vrye Ethei to me; and Joab sente Vrye to Dauid.
7 Y cuando Urías se acercó a él, David le hizo preguntas sobre cómo era Joab y el pueblo, y cómo iba la guerra.
And Vrie cam to Dauid; and Dauid axide, hou riytfuli Joab dide and the puple, and hou the batel was mynystrid.
8 Entonces David dijo a Urías: Baja a tu casa, y lava tus pies. Y Urías se fue de la casa del rey, y una ofrenda del rey fue enviada tras él.
And Dauid seide to Vrye, Go in to thin hows, and waische thi feet. Vrye yede out fro the hows of the kyng, and the kyngis mete suede hym.
9 Pero Urías tomó su descanso en la puerta de la casa del rey, con todos los siervos de su señor, y no bajó a su casa.
Sotheli Vrye slepte bifor the yate of the kyngis hows with othere seruauntis of his lord, and yede not doun to his hows.
10 Y cuando se le dijo a David que Urías no había bajado a su casa, David le dijo a Urías, ¿No has venido de un viaje? ¿Por qué no fuiste a tu casa?
And it was teld to Dauid of men, seiynge, Vrye `yede not to his hows. And Dauid seide to Vrye, Whether thou camest not fro the weye? whi yedist thou not doun in to thin hows?
11 Y Urías dijo a David: Israel y Judá con el arca viven en tiendas, y mi señor Joab y los otros siervos de mi señor duermen en campo abierto; ¿Debo ir a mi casa y comer y beber, y acostarme con mi esposa? Por el Señor vivo, y por la vida de tu alma, no haré tal cosa.
And Vrie seide to Dauid, The arke of God, Israel and Juda dwellen in tentis, and my lord Joab, and the seruauntis of my lord dwellen on the face of erthe, and schal Y go in to myn hows, to ete and drynke, and slepe with my wijf? Bi thin helthe, and bi the helthe of thi soule, Y schal not do this thing.
12 Entonces David dijo a Urías: Estate aquí hoy, y después de eso te dejaré ir. Entonces Urías estuvo en Jerusalén ese día y el siguiente.
Therfor Dauid seide to Vrye, Dwelle thou here also to dai, and to morewe Y schal delyuere thee. Vrie dwellide in Jerusalem in that day and the tothir.
13 Y enviándole David, David comió y bebió, y David logró emborracharlo. Y al caer la noche, se fue a descansar en su cama con los criados de su señor, pero él No bajó a su casa.
And Dauid clepide hym, that he schulde ete and drynke bifor hym, and Dauid made drunkun Vrye; and he yede out in the euentid, and slepte in his bed with the seruauntes of his lord; and yede not doun in to his hows.
14 A la mañana siguiente, David le dio a Urías una carta para llevar a Joab.
Therfor the morewtid was maad, and Dauid wroot epistle to Joab, and sente bi the hond of Vrye,
15 Y en la carta dijo: Ten cuidado de poner a Urías en el frente de la línea, donde la lucha es más violenta, y déjenlo solo, para que pueda ser vencido y condenado a muerte.
and wroot in the pistle, Sette ye Vrye euene ayens the batel, where the batel is strongeste, `that is, where the aduersaries ben stronge, and forsake ye hym, that he be smitun and perische.
16 Entonces, mientras Joab observaba la ciudad, puso a Urías en el lugar donde estaba claro para él que eran los mejores guerreros.
Therfor whanne Joab bisegide the citee, he settide Vrie in the place where he wiste that strongeste men weren.
17 Salieron los hombres de la ciudad y se pelearon con Joab; y varios de los hombres de David murieron en la lucha, y con ellos Urías el hitita.
And men yeden out of the citee, and fouyten ayens Joab, and thei killiden of the puple of seruauntis of Dauid, and also Vrye Ethei was deed.
18 Entonces Joab envió a David noticias de todo lo que había ocurrido en la guerra:
Therfor Joab sente, and telde alle the wordis of the batel;
19 Y dio órdenes al hombre que recibió la noticia, diciendo: Después de que le hayas dado al rey todas las noticias sobre la guerra,
and he comaundyde to the messanger, and seide, Whanne thou hast fillid alle wordis of the batel to the kyng,
20 Si el rey está enojado y dice: ¿Por qué te acercaste tanto al pueblo para pelear? ¿No era cierto que sus arqueros estarían en la pared?
if thou seest, that he is wrooth, and seith, Whi neiyiden ye to the wal to fiyte? whether ye wisten not, that many dartis ben sent `fro aboue fro the wal?
21 ¿Quién mató a Abimelec, hijo de Jerobaal? ¿Acaso una mujer no le arrojó una gran piedra desde la pared y lo mató en Thebez? ¿Por qué te acercaste tanto a la pared? Entonces dile: Tu siervo Urías el hitita está entre los muertos.
who smoot Abymelech, sone of Gerobaal? whether not a womman sente on hym a gobet of a mylnestoon fro the wal, and killide hym in Thebes? whi neiyiden ye bisidis the wal? thou schalt seie, Also thi seruaunt, Vrye Ethei, diede.
22 Entonces el hombre fue y vino a David, y le dio todas las noticias que Joab le había enviado para dar; luego David se enojó con Joab y dijo: ¿Por qué te acercaste tanto a la ciudad para la pelea? ¿No era cierto que sus arqueros estarían en la pared? ¿Quién mató a Abimelec, el hijo de Jerobaal? ¿Acaso una mujer no le arrojó una gran piedra desde la pared y lo mató en Thebez? ¿Por qué te acercaste tanto a la pared?
Therfor the messanger yede, and telde to Dauid alle thingis whiche Joab hadde comaundid to hym.
23 Y el hombre dijo a David: En verdad, los hombres nos vencieron y salieron contra nosotros al campo abierto, pero los enviamos de regreso a las mismas puertas del pueblo.
And the messanger seide to Dauid, `Men hadden the maistri ayens us, and thei yeden out to vs in to the feeld; sotheli bi `fersnesse maad we pursueden hem `til to the yate of the citee.
24 Y los arqueros enviaron sus flechas a tus siervos desde el muro, y algunos de los siervos del rey murieron, y entre ellos está tu siervo Urías el hitita.
And archeris senten dartis to thi seruauntis fro the wal aboue, and summe of the `kyngis seruauntis ben deed; forsothe also thi seruaunt, Vrye Ethei, is deed.
25 Entonces David dijo al hombre: Ve y dile a Joab: No permitas que esto te cause pena; porque un hombre puede llegar a su muerte por la espada como otro: lucha aún más fuerte contra la ciudad, y tomarla: y anímalo.
And Dauid seide to the messanger, Thou schalt seie these thingis to Joab, This thing breke not thee; for the bifallyng of batel is dyuerse, and swerd wastith now this man, now that man; coumforte thi fiyteris ayens the citee, that thou distrye it, and excite thou hem.
26 Y cuando la esposa de Urías tuvo noticias de que su esposo había muerto, ella se entregó a llorar por él.
Forsothe the wijf of Vrye herde, that Vrye hir hosebond was deed, and sche biweilide hym.
27 Y cuando pasaron los días de llanto, David la llamó y la llevó a su casa, y ella se convirtió en su esposa y le dio un hijo. Pero el Señor no estaba complacido con lo que David había hecho.
And whanne the morenyng was passid, Dauid sente, and brouyte hir in to his hows; and sche was maad wijf to hym, and sche childide a sone to hym. And this word which Dauid hadde do displeside bifor the Lord.
