2 Pedro 1
1 Simón Pedro, siervo y Apóstol de Jesucristo, a los que con nosotros tienen parte en la misma santa fe en la justicia de nuestro Dios y Salvador Jesucristo:
Simon Peter, servant and Apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have been allotted an equal faith with us in the justice of our God and in our Savior Jesus Christ.
2 Que la gracia y la paz sean cada vez mayores en ustedes, en el conocimiento de Dios y de Jesús nuestro Señor;
Grace to you. And may peace be fulfilled according to the plan of God and of Christ Jesus our Lord,
3 Porque por su poder nos ha dado todo lo necesario para la vida y la justicia, a través del conocimiento de aquel que nos llamó por su gloria y virtud;
in the same manner that all things which are for life and piety have been given to us by his Divine virtue, through the plan of him who has called us to our own glory and virtue.
4 Y a través de esto, él nos ha dado la esperanza de grandes recompensas altamente valoradas; para que por ellos podamos tener nuestra parte en la naturaleza divina de Dios, y ser liberados de la destrucción que está en el mundo a través de los deseos de la carne.
Through Christ, he has given us the greatest and most precious promises, so that by these things you may become sharers in the Divine Nature, fleeing from the corruption of that desire which is in the world.
5 Entonces, por esta misma causa, ten cuidado; añadan a su fe virtud, a la virtud conocimiento;
But as for you, taking up every concern, minister virtue in your faith; and in virtue, knowledge;
6 Al conocimiento, dominio propio, al dominio propio, paciencia; a la paciencia, piedad;
and in knowledge, moderation; and in moderation, patience; and in patience, piety;
7 A la piedad, afecto fraternal; y al afecto fraternal, amor.
and in piety, love of brotherhood; and in love of brotherhood, charity.
8 Porque si tienen estas cosas en buena medida y las desarrollan, no estarán ociosos y sin fruto en cuanto al conocimiento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
For if these things are with you, and if they abound, they will cause you to be neither empty, nor without fruit, within the plan of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Porque el hombre que no tiene estas cosas es ciego, viendo solo lo que está cerca, sin tener memoria de cómo fue purificado de sus viejos pecados.
For he who does not have these things at hand is blind and groping, being forgetful of his purification from his former offenses.
10 Por esta razón, mis hermanos, tengan mucho más cuidado, ya que Dios los ha llamado y escogido, procuren que esto arraigue en ustedes; porque si hacen estas cosas, nunca caerán.
Because of this, brothers, be all the more diligent, so that by good works you may make certain your calling and election. For in doing these things, you do not sin at any time.
11 Porque así se les abrirá el camino al reino eterno de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo. (aiōnios g166)
For in this way, you shall be provided abundantly with an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (aiōnios g166)
12 Por esta razón, estaré listo en todo momento para recordarles de estas cosas, aunque ahora las conocen y están bien confirmadas en su fe actual.
For this reason, I will always begin to admonish you about these things, even though, certainly, you know them and are confirmed in the present truth.
13 Y me parece correcto, mientras yo viva, llamarles la atención con estos consejos;
But I consider it just, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up with admonishments.
14 Porque soy consciente de que dentro de poco tiempo debo abandonar el cuerpo, como nuestro Señor Jesucristo me ha dejado claro.
For it is certain that the laying to rest of this, my tabernacle, is approaching swiftly, just as our Lord Jesus Christ has also indicated to me.
15 Y tomaré todas las precauciones para que tengan un recuerdo claro de estas cosas después de mi muerte.
Therefore, I will present a work for you to have, so that, frequently after my passing, you may call to mind these things.
16 Porque cuando les dimos noticias del poder y la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, nuestra enseñanza no se basó en historias elaboradas por arte, sino que fuimos testigos oculares de su gloria.
For it was not by following fanciful doctrines that we made known to you the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were made eyewitnesses of his greatness.
17 Porque Dios el Padre le dio honra y gloria, cuando una voz semejante vino a él desde la gran gloria, diciendo: Este es mi Hijo amado, en quien tengo complacencia.
For he received honor and glory from God the Father, whose voice descended to him from the magnificent glory: “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”
18 Y esta voz vino del cielo hasta nuestros oídos, cuando estábamos con él en el monte santo.
We also heard this voice conveyed from heaven, when we were with him on the holy mountain.
19 Y así las palabras de los profetas se hacen más ciertas; y es bueno que presten atención a ellos como a una luz que brilla en un lugar oscuro, hasta que llegue el amanecer y la estrella de la mañana se vea en sus corazones;
And so, we have an even firmer prophetic word, to which you would do well to listen, as to a light shining within a dark place, until the day dawns, and the daystar rises, in your hearts.
20 Sean conscientes, en primer lugar, de que ningún hombre por sí mismo puede dar un sentido especial a las palabras de los profetas.
Understand this first: that every prophecy of Scripture does not result from one’s own interpretation.
21 Porque estas palabras nunca vinieron por el impulso de los hombres; pero los profetas las recibieron de Dios, siendo movidas por el Espíritu Santo.
For prophecy was not conveyed by human will at any time. Instead, holy men were speaking about God while inspired by the Holy Spirit.
