2 Reyes 9
1 Entonces el profeta Eliseo mandó llamar a uno de los hijos de los profetas y le dijo: Prepárate para el viaje, toma esta botella de aceite en tu mano y ve a Ramot-Galaad.
Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets and told him, “Put your cloak into your belt, take this flask of olive oil, and go to Ramoth-gilead.
2 Y cuando llegues, ve en busca de Jehú, el hijo de Josafat, el hijo de Nimsi; Entra y haz que se levante de entre sus hermanos, y llévalo a otra habitación.
Once you get there, look for Jehu, son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi. Go in, get him away from his companions, and take him to an inner room. Get him to leave his friends, lead him to a private room,
3 Luego toma la botella y pon el aceite sobre su cabeza, y di: El Señor dice: Te he puesto el aceite santo para consagrarte rey sobre Israel. Luego, abriendo la puerta, huye, sin esperar.
take the flask of olive oil, and pour it on his head. Tell him, ‘This is what the Lord says: I anoint you king of Israel.’ Then open the door and run away! Don't wait around!”
4 Entonces el joven profeta fue a Ramot de Galaad.
So the young prophet went to Ramoth-gilead.
5 Y cuando llegó, vio a los capitanes del ejército sentados juntos; Y él dijo: Tengo algo que decirte, oh capitán. Y Jehú dijo: ¿A cuál de nosotros? Y él dijo: A ti, oh capitán contestó él profeta.
When he arrived, he saw the army commanders sitting around. “I've got a message for you, commander,” he said. “For which one of us?” Jehu asked. “For you, commander,” he replied.
6 Entonces se levantó y entró en la casa; luego puso el aceite santo sobre su cabeza y le dijo: El Señor, el Dios de Israel, dice: Te he puesto por rey sobre el pueblo del Señor, sobre Israel.
Jehu got up and went inside, where the young prophet poured the olive oil on his head and announced to him, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anoint you king over the Lord's people Israel.
7 Debes ver que la familia de Acab, tu amo, tú acabarás con su descendencia, para que pueda tomar de Jezabel el pago por la sangre de mis siervos los profetas y por la sangre de todos los siervos del Señor.
You are going to destroy the family of Ahab, your master. You will avenge the blood my prophets and the blood of all the Lord's servants killed by Jezebel.
8 Porque la familia de Acab llegará a su fin; Todos los varones de la familia de Acab serán cortados, el que está encerrado y el que sale libre en Israel.
The whole house of Ahab will be eradicated—I will destroy all the males of Ahab's family in Israel, both slave and free.
9 Haré la familia de Acab como la de Jeroboam, el hijo de Nabat, y Baasa, el hijo de Ahías.
I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam, son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha, son of Ahijah.
10 Y Jezabel se convertirá en alimento para los perros en el territorio de Jezreel, y no habrá nadie que ponga su cuerpo en la tierra. Luego, abriendo la puerta, salió en vuelo.
Dogs will eat Jezebel, Ahab's wife, at the plot of ground in Jezreel, and no one will bury her.” Then the young prophet opened the door and ran away.
11 Salió nuevamente Jehú a los siervos de su señor, y uno le dijo: ¿Está todo bien? ¿Por qué este hombre, que está fuera de sí, viene a ti? Y él les dijo: Ustedes lo conocen al hombre y su forma de hablar.
When Jehu went back out to the other officers of his master, they asked him, “Is everything fine? Why did this crazy man come to you?” “You know what he's like, and how he goes on and on,” he replied.
12 Y ellos dijeron: Eso no es cierto; Ahora danos su historia. Luego dijo: Esto es lo que me dijo: El Señor dice: Te he hecho rey sobre Israel.
“Liar!” they said. “Please tell us what's going on.” “Well, he talked to me about this and that, and he told me, ‘This is what the Lord says: I anoint you king over Israel.’”
13 Entonces, inmediatamente, todos tomaron su túnica y la colocaron debajo de él en la parte superior de los escalones y, sonando el cuerno, dijeron: Jehú es el rey.
They quickly grabbed their cloaks and spread them on the bare steps. They blew the trumpet and shouted, “Jehu is king!”
14 Entonces Jehú, el hijo de Josafat, el hijo de Nimsi, hizo planes contra Joram. Ahora Joram y todo el ejército de Israel estaban vigilando a Ramot-gilead debido a Hazael, rey de Siria:
So Jehu, son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi, plotted rebellion against Joram. Joram and the whole Israelite army had been defending Ramoth-Gilead against Hazael, king of Aram.
15 Pero el rey Joram había regresado a Jezreel para curarse de las heridas que los sirios le habían causado cuando estaba luchando contra Hazael, rey de Siria. Y Jehú dijo: Si este es tu propósito, que nadie se escape y salga de la ciudad para dar noticias de ello en Jezreel.
But Joram had returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds he'd received fighting against Hazael, king of Aram. So Jehu said, “If you commanders want to make me king, don't let anyone leave town and go and announce it in Jezreel.”
16 Entonces Jehú subió a su carruaje y fue a Jezreel, porque Joram estaba enfermo en la cama allí; y Ocozías, rey de Judá, había bajado para ver a Joram.
Jehu got on his chariot and went to Jezreel, for Joram was recuperating there. Ahaziah, king of Judah, was there too because he had come to visit Joram.
17 Y el vigilante en la torre de Jezreel vio venir a Jehú con una multitud, y dijo: Veo una multitud de personas. Y Joram dijo: Envíales un jinete, y dijo, ¿Hay paz?
The watchman on the tower in Jezreel saw Jehu's soldiers approaching, and he shouted out, “I see a soldiers coming!” “Choose a horseman,” Joram ordered. “Send him out to meet them and ask, ‘Do you come in peace?’”
18 Entonces un jinete se acercó a ellos y les dijo: El rey dice: ¿Hay paz? Y Jehú dijo: ¿Qué tienes que ver con la paz? ven después de mi Y el vigilante les dio la palabra, diciendo: El jinete se acercó a ellos, pero no ha vuelto.
So a horseman rode off to meet Jehu, and said, “This is what the king asks: ‘Do you come in peace?’” “What has peace got to do with you?” Jehu replied. “Turn around and follow me.” The watchman reported, “The messenger has reached them, but he's not returning.”
19 Luego envió a un segundo jinete, que se acercó a ellos y dijo: El rey dice: ¿Hay paz? Y Jehú respondió: ¿Qué tienes que ver con la paz? Ven después de mi.
The king sent out a second horseman. He went up to them and said, “This is what the king asks: ‘Do you come in peace?’” “What has peace got to do with you?” Jehu replied. “Turn around and follow me.”
20 Y el hombre de guardia les dio palabra, diciendo: Él subió a ellos y no ha vuelto; y la conducción es como la conducción de Jehú, hijo de Nimsi, porque está conduciendo violentamente.
The watchman reported, “The messenger has reached them, but he's not returning. The driving looks like the driving of Jehu, son of Nimshi—he's a crazy driver!”
21 Entonces Joram dijo: Preparate. Así prepararon su carruaje; y Joram, rey de Israel, con Ocozías, rey de Judá, salió en sus carruajes con el propósito de encontrarse con Jehú; y se encontraron cara a cara con él en el campo de Nabot, el jezreelita.
“Prepare my chariot!” Joram shouted, and they had his chariot ready. Then Joram, king of Israel, and Ahaziah, king of Judah, set off in their separate chariots, and met Jehu on the plot of ground that was previously owned by Naboth from Jezreel.
22 Y cuando Joram vio a Jehú, dijo: ¿Hay paz, Jehú? Y él respondió: ¿Qué paz es posible mientras toda la tierra está llena de las prostituciones de tu madre Jezabel y sus hechicerías?
When Joram saw Jehu, he asked him, “Do you come in peace, Jehu?” “What peace can there be with so much prostitution and witchcraft caused by your mother Jezebel?” Jehu replied.
23 Entonces Joram, dando vueltas a sus caballos en vuelo, dijo a Ocozías: ¡traición, oh Ocozías!
Joram turned around and raced away, shouting out to Ahaziah, “It's treason, Ahaziah!”
24 Entonces Jehú tomó su arco en su mano, y con todas sus fuerzas envió una flecha, hiriendo a Joram entre los brazos; y la flecha salió de su corazón, y se hundió sobre su rostro en su carruaje.
Jehu picked up his bow and shot Joram between the shoulders. The arrow went through his heart and he collapsed dead in his chariot.
25 Entonces Jehú dijo a Bidcar, su capitán: Llévalo y ponlo en el campo de Nabot el Jezreelita; acuérdate de ese día cuando tú y yo, juntos sobre nuestros caballos, íbamos tras Acab, su padre, y el Señor le pronunció esta sentencia contra él; diciendo:
Jehu said to Bidkar his officer, “Pick him up and throw him into the field of Naboth from Jezreel. Remember when you and I were riding together behind his father Ahab how the Lord made this prophecy against him:
26 Vi la sangre de Nabot y de sus hijos ayer; y te daré el pago completo en este campo, dice el Señor? Así que ahora, tómalo y ponlo en este campo, como dijo el Señor.
‘In the same way as I saw the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons yesterday, says the Lord, so I will certainly repay you on this same plot of ground, says the Lord.’ Now then, following what the Lord has said, pick him up and throw him on the plot of ground.”
27 Y cuando Ocozías, rey de Judá, vio esto, salió en vuelo por el camino de la casa del jardín. Y Jehú vino tras él y le dijo: Hazlo morir de la misma manera; y le dieron una herida de muerte en su carruaje, en la pendiente hasta Gur, por Ibleam; y se fue en vuelo a Meguido, donde la muerte vino a él.
When Ahaziah, king of Judah, saw what happened, he raced up the road toward Beth-haggan. But Jehu chased after him, shouting, “Shoot him too!” So they shot Ahaziah in his chariot on the way up to Gur, near Ibleam. He managed to escape to Megiddo but he died there.
28 Entonces sus siervos lo llevaron en un carruaje a Jerusalén, y lo enterraron con sus padres en la ciudad de David.
His servants took him by chariot to Jerusalem and buried him with his forefathers in his tomb in the City of David.
29 En el año undécimo del gobierno de Joram, hijo de Acab, Ocozías se convirtió en rey de Judá.
Ahaziah became king of Judah in the eleventh year of the reign of Joram, son of Ahab.
30 Y cuando Jehú llegó a Jezreel, Jezabel tuvo noticias de ello; y, pintándose los ojos y vistiendo el pelo con adornos, sacó la cabeza por la ventana.
When Jezebel heard that Jehu had arrived in Jezreel, she put on her black eye-shadow, placed jewelry in her hair, and watched from a window.
31 Y cuando Jehú entraba en el pueblo, ella dijo: ¿Está bien, oh Zimri, que tomas la vida de tu amo?
As Jehu came in through the gate, she shouted down, “Do you come in peace? Or are you like Zimri, a murderer of your master?”
32 Luego, mirando hacia la ventana, dijo: ¿Quién está de mi lado, quién? y dos o tres criados eunucos asomaron sus cabezas.
Jehu looked up at the window and shouted out, “Who is on my side? Anyone?” Two or three eunuchs looked down at him.
33 Y él le dijo: Tómala y sácala por la ventana. Así que la echaron con fuerza por la ventana, y su sangre se salpicó en la pared y en los caballos; y ella fue aplastada bajo sus pies.
“Throw her down!” he shouted. And they threw her down. Her blood spattered on the wall and on the horses which then trampled her.
34 Entró, y comió y bebió; luego dijo: Ahora ve a esta maldita mujer, y entiérrenla, porque a pesar de todo era la hija de un rey.
Jehu went inside and ate and drank. Then he said, “Please deal with that cursed woman and bury her, for she was a king's daughter.”
35 Salieron para sepultarla, no se veía nada de ella, solo los huesos de su cabeza, sus pies y partes de sus manos.
They went out to bury her but all they found were her skull, her feet, and her hands.
36 Entonces volvieron y le dieron palabra de ello. Y él dijo: Esto es lo que el Señor dijo por su siervo Elías el Tisbita, diciendo: En la herencia de Jezreel, la carne de Jezabel se convertirá en alimento para los perros;
They went back and told Jehu, who said, “This is what the Lord said through his servant Elijah the Tishbite: ‘Dogs will eat Jezebel's flesh on the plot of ground at Jezreel.
37 Y el cadáver de Jezabel será como estiércol arrojado sobre la faz de la tierra en la herencia de Jezreel; para que no puedan decir, esto es Jezabel.
Jezebel's body will lie like manure in the field on the plot of ground at Jezreel, so that no one can say: This is where Jezebel is buried.’”
