2 Reyes 8

1 Ahora Eliseo había dicho a la mujer a cuyo hijo había devuelto la vida: Ve ahora donde puedas, con todas las personas de tu casa, y consigue un lugar donde vivir para ti; porque por la palabra del Señor, habrá una gran hambruna en la tierra; y esto durará siete años.

And Eliseus spoke to the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying: Arise, and go thou and thy household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst find: for the Lord hath exiled a famine, and it shall come upon the land seven years.

2 Entonces la mujer se levantó e hizo lo que el hombre de Dios dijo; y ella y la gente de su casa vivieron en la tierra de los filisteos durante siete años.

And she arose, and did according to the word of the man of God: and going with her household, she sojourned in the land of the Philistines many days.

3 Y cuando terminaron los siete años, la mujer regresó de la tierra de los filisteos y se dirigió al rey para pedirle su casa y su tierra.

And when the seven years were ended, the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines, and she went forth to speak to the king for her house, and for her lands.

4 Ahora el rey estaba hablando con Giezi, el siervo del hombre de Dios, diciendo: Ahora, cuéntame todas las grandes cosas que ha hecho Eliseo.

And the king talked with Giezi, the servant of the man of God, saying: Tell me all the great things that Eliseus hath done.

5 Y mientras le contaba al rey la historia de cómo Eliseo había revivido al hijo de una mujer, la mujer cuyo hijo había regresado a la vida, vino al rey para pedirle su casa y su tierra. Y Giezi dijo: Mi señor rey, esta es la mujer y este es su hijo, cuya vida le devolvió Eliseo.

And when he was telling the king how he had raised one dead to life, the woman appeared, whose son he had restored to life, crying to the king for her house, and her lands. And Giezi said: My lord O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Eliseus raised to life.

6 Y en respuesta a las preguntas del rey, la mujer le contó toda la historia. Entonces el rey dio órdenes a uno de sus sirvientes de confianza, diciéndole: Devuélvanle todos sus bienes y todos los productos de sus campos desde el día en que se fue de la tierra hasta ahora.

And the king asked the woman: and she told him. And the king appointed her an eunuch, saying: Restore her all that is hers, and all the revenues of the lands, from the day that she left the land, to this present.

7 Y vino Eliseo a Damasco; y Ben-adad, rey de Siria, estaba enfermo; Y le dijeron: Ha venido el hombre de Dios.

Eliseus also came to Damascus, and Benadad king of Syria was sick: and they told him, saying: The man of God is come hither.

8 Entonces el rey le dijo a Hazael: Toma una ofrenda contigo, ve a ver al hombre de Dios y obtén instrucciones del Señor por medio de él, diciendo: ¿Voy a mejorar de mi enfermedad?

And the king said to Hazael: Take with thee presents, and go to meet the man of God, and consult the Lord by him, saying: Can I recover of this my illness?

9 Entonces, Hazael fue a verlo, llevándose cuarenta camellos con ofrendas a sus espaldas de todo tipo de cosas buenas de Damasco; y cuando llegó antes que él, dijo: Tu hijo Ben-adad, rey de Siria, me ha enviado a ti, diciendo: ¿Me mejoraré de esta enfermedad?

And Hazael went to meet him, taking with him presents, and all the good things of Damascus, the burdens of forty camels. And when he stood before him, he said: Thy son Benadad the king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying: Can I recover of this my illness?

10 Y Eliseo le dijo: Ve, dile: Ciertamente mejorarás; pero el Señor me ha dejado claro que de todos modos morirá.

And Eliseus said to him: Go tell him: Thou shalt recover: bat the Lord hath shewn me that he shall surely die.

11 Y mantuvo sus ojos fijos en él hasta que se avergonzó, y el hombre de Dios se llenó de llanto.

And he stood with him, and was troubled so far as to blush: and the man of God wept.

12 Y Hazael dijo: ¿Por qué llora mi señor? Entonces él respondió: Porque veo el mal que harás a los hijos de Israel: incendiarás sus fortalezas, matarás a sus jóvenes a filo de la espada, aplastaras a sus pequeños contra las piedras y cortarás el vientre de las mujeres embarazadas.

And Hazael said to him: Why doth my lord weep? And he said: Because I know the evil that thou wilt do to the children of Israel. Their strong cities then wilt burn with fire, and their young men thou wilt kill with the sword, and thou wilt dash their children, and rip up their pregnant women.

13 Y Hazael dijo: ¿Cómo es posible que tu siervo, que solo es un perro, haga esta gran cosa? Y Eliseo dijo: El Señor me ha dejado claro que tú serás rey sobre Siria.

And Hazael said: But what am I thy servant a dog, that I should do this great thing? And Eliseus said: The Lord hath shewn me that thou shalt be king of Syria.

14 Luego se fue de Eliseo y entró con su maestro, quien le dijo: ¿Qué te dijo Eliseo? Y su respuesta fue: Él dijo que ciertamente te pondrías bien.

And when he was departed from Eliseus, he came to his master, who said to him: What saith Eliseus to thee? And he answered: He told me: Thou shalt recover.

15 Al día siguiente, Hazael tomó la colcha y mojándola con agua, la puso sobre el rostro de Ben-adad, causando su muerte: y Hazael se convirtió en rey en su lugar.

And on the next day he took a blanket, and pouted water on it, and spread it upon his face: and he died, and Hazael reigned in his stead.

16 En el quinto año de Joram, hijo de Acab, rey de Israel, Joram, hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá, llegó a ser rey.

In the fifth year of Joram son of Achab king of Israel, and of Josaphat king of Juda, reigned Joram son of Josaphat king of Juda.

17 Tenía treinta y dos años cuando llegó a ser rey; y estuvo gobernando en Jerusalén por ocho años.

He was two and thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

18 Y anduvo por los caminos de los reyes de Israel, como hizo la familia de Acab; porque la hija de Acab era su mujer; E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor.

And he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Achab had walked: for the daughter of Achab was his wife: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord.

19 Pero no era el propósito del Señor enviar destrucción sobre Judá, a causa de David su siervo, a quien había dado su palabra de que tendría una luz para siempre.

But the Lord would not destroy Juda, for David his servant’s sake, as he had promised him, to give him a light, and to his children always.

20 En su tiempo, Edom se rebeló contra el gobierno de Judá y tomó un rey para sí mismo.

In his days Edom revolted, from being under Juda, and made themselves a king.

21 Entonces Joram se acercó a Zair, con todos sus carros de guerra; atacaron de noche a los edomitas, cuyas fuerzas los habían rodeado; y los hicieron huir.

And Joram came to Seira, and all the chariots with him: and he arose in the night, and defeated the Edomites that had surrounded him, and the captains of the chariots, but the people fled into their tents.

22 Así Edom se rebeló contra él gobierno de Judá hasta el día de hoy. Y al mismo tiempo, Libna se rebeló.

So Edom revolted from being under Juda, unto this day. Then Lobna also revolted at the same time.

23 Los demás hechos de Joram y todo lo que hizo, ¿no están registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

But the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Juda?

24 Y Joram durmió con sus padres y fue enterrado con sus padres en la ciudad de David; y Ocozías, su hijo, se convirtió en rey en su lugar.

And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with them in the city of David, and Ochozias his son reigned in Iris stead.

25 En el año duodécimo en que Joram, hijo de Acab, era rey de Israel, Ocozías, hijo de Joram, rey de Judá, se convirtió en rey.

In the twelfth year of Joram son of Achab king of Israel, reigned Ochozias son of Joram king of Juda.

26 Ocozías tenía veintidós años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén por un año. El nombre de su madre fue Atalía, hija de Omri, rey de Israel.

Ochozias was two and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem: the name of his mother was Athalia the daughter of Amri king of Israel.

27 Fue por los caminos de la familia de Acab, e hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor como lo hizo la familia de Acab, porque era un yerno de la familia de Acab.

And he walked in the ways of the house of Achab: and he did evil before the Lord, as did the house of Achab: for he was the son in law of the house of Achab.

28 Fue con Joram, el hijo de Acab, para hacer la guerra a Hazael, rey de Siria, en Ramot de Galaad: y Joram fue herido por los sirios.

He went also with Joram son of Achab, to fight against Hazael king of Syria in Ramoth Galaad, and the Syrians wounded Joram:

29 Entonces el rey Joram regresó a Jezreel para recuperarse de las heridas que los arqueros le habían dado en Ramot, cuando estaba luchando contra Hazael, rey de Siria. Y Ocozías, hijo de Joram, rey de Judá, descendió para ver a Joram, hijo de Acab, en Jezreel, porque estaba enfermo.

And he went back to be healed, in Jezrahel: because the Syrians had wounded him in Ramoth when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ochozias the son of Joram king of Juda, went down to visit Joram the son of Achab in Jezrahel, because he was sick there.
