1 Ahora, en el noveno año de su gobierno, el décimo día del décimo mes, Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, se enfrentó a Jerusalén con todo su ejército y tomó su posición ante él, construyendo rampas en todo el pueblo.
Now in the ninth year of his rule, on the tenth day of the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came against Jerusalem with all his army and took up his position before it, building earthworks all round the town.
2 Y el pueblo fue cerrado por sus ejércitos hasta el año undécimo del rey Sedequías.
And the town was shut in by their forces till the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.
3 Ahora, a los nueve días del cuarto mes hubo una hambruna, de modo que no había alimentos para la gente de la tierra.
Now on the ninth day of the fourth month, the store of food in the town was almost gone, so that there was no food for the people of the land.
4 Entonces se abrió una abertura en la muralla de la ciudad, y todos los hombres de guerra salieron huyendo por la noche a través de la puerta entre las dos paredes que estaba junto al jardín del rey; ahora los caldeos estaban estacionados alrededor de la ciudad y el rey se fue a la llanura.
So an opening was made in the wall of the town, and all the men of war went in flight by night through the doorway between the two walls which was by the king's garden; (now the Chaldaeans were stationed round the town: ) and the king went by the way of the Arabah.
5 Pero el ejército caldeo fue tras el rey y lo alcanzó en las tierras bajas de Jericó, y todo su ejército huyó de él en todas direcciones.
But the Chaldaean army went after the king, and overtook him in the lowlands of Jericho, and all his army went in flight from him in every direction.
6 Hicieron prisionero al rey y lo llevaron al rey de Babilonia en Ribla para ser juzgados.
And they made the king a prisoner and took him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah to be judged.
7 Y mataron a los hijos de Sedequías ante sus ojos, y luego le sacaron los ojos y, encadenado con cadenas de bronce, lo llevaron a Babilonia.
And they put the sons of Zedekiah to death before his eyes, and then they put out his eyes, and chaining him with iron bands, took him to Babylon.
8 Ahora, en el quinto mes, el séptimo día del mes, en el año diecinueve de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, Nabuzaradán, el capitán de los hombres armados, siervo del rey de Babilonia, llegó a Jerusalén;
Now in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, a servant of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem;
9 E incendió el templo del Señor, la casa del rey y todas las casas de Jerusalén, y todas las grandes casas de los personajes notables;
And he had the house of the Lord and the king's house and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house, burned with fire;
10 Y los muros que rodean a Jerusalén fueron derribados por el ejército caldeo que estaba con el capitán.
And the walls round Jerusalem were broken down by the Chaldaean army which was with the captain.
11 Y el resto de la gente que todavía estaba en la ciudad, y todos los que se habían entregado al rey de Babilonia, y todos los demás trabajadores, Nabuzaradán, el capitán de los hombres armados, los tomaron como prisioneros;
And the rest of the people who were still in the town, and all those who had given themselves up to the king of Babylon, and all the rest of the workmen, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, took away as prisoners;
12 Pero dejó que los más pobres de la tierra siguieran viviendo allí, para cuidar las viñas y los campos.
But he let the poorest of the land go on living there, to take care of the vines and the fields.
13 Las columnas de bronce de la casa del Señor, y las bases con ruedas, y el gran recipiente de agua de bronce de la casa del Señor, fueron destruidos por los caldeos, que llevaron el bronce a Babilonia.
And the brass pillars in the house of the Lord, and the wheeled bases, and the great brass water-vessel in the house of the Lord, were broken up by the Chaldaeans, who took the brass to Babylon.
14 Y las ollas y las espadas y las tijeras para las luces y las cucharas, y todos los vasos de bronce usados en la casa del Señor, se los llevaron.
And the pots and the spades and the scissors for the lights and the spoons, and all the brass vessels used in the Lord's house, they took away.
15 Y los braseros y tazones; El oro de los recipientes de oro y la plata de los recipientes de plata fueron retirados por el capitán de los hombres armados.
And the fire-trays and the basins; the gold of the gold vessels and the silver of the silver vessels, were all taken away by the captain of the armed men.
16 Los dos pilares, la gran vasija de agua y las bases con ruedas, que Salomón había hecho para la casa del Señor: el bronce de todas estas vasijas no se pudo calcular el peso.
The two pillars, the great water-vessel and the wheeled bases, which Solomon had made for the house of the Lord: the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
17 Uno de los pilares tenía dieciocho codos de alto, con una corona de bronce en él; la corona tenía tres codos de alto, rodeada con una red y granadas de bronce; Y el segundo pilar era semejante.
One of the pillars was eighteen cubits high, with a crown of brass on it; the crown was three cubits high, circled with a network and apples all of brass; and the second pillar had the same.
18 Entonces el capitán de los hombres armados tomó a Seraías, el principal sacerdote, y a Sofonías, el segundo sacerdote, y los tres guardianes de las puertas;
And the captain of the armed men took Seraiah, the chief priest, and Zephaniah, the second priest, and the three door-keepers;
19 Del pueblo tomó al oficial que estaba sobre los hombres de guerra, y a cinco de los amigos cercanos del rey que estaban en la ciudad, y al escriba del capitán del ejército, que era responsable de reclutar en orden militar, y sesenta hombres notables de la tierra que estaban en la ciudad.
And from the town he took the unsexed servant who was over the men of war, and five of the king's near friends who were in the town, and the scribe of the captain of the army, who was responsible for getting the people of the land together in military order, and sixty men of the people of the land who were in the town.
20 Este Nabuzaradán, el capitán de los hombres armados, llevó consigo al rey de Babilonia en Ribla.
These Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, took with him to the king of Babylon at Riblah.
21 Y el rey de Babilonia los mató en Ribla, en la tierra de Hamat. Y a Judá lo sacaron prisionero de su tierra.
And the king of Babylon put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was taken away prisoner from his land.
22 En cuanto a las personas que todavía vivían en la tierra de Judá, a quien Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, no se llevó, hizo que Gedalías, hijo de Ajicam, hijo de Safán, gobernara sobre ellos.
As for the people who were still living in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, did not take away, he made Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, ruler over them.
23 Ahora, los capitanes de las fuerzas armadas, al oír que el rey de Babilonia había hecho gobernar a Gedalías, fueron con sus hombres a Gedalías en Mizpa; Ismael, el hijo de Nethaniah, y Johanan, el hijo de Kareah, y Seraiah, el hijo de Tanhumeth el Netophathite, y Jaazaniah, el hijo de Maacathite, vinieron con todos sus hombres.
Now the captains of the armed forces, hearing that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah ruler, came with their men to Gedaliah at Mizpah; Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, and Seraiah, the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah, the son of the Maacathite, came with all their men.
24 Entonces Gedalías juró a ellos y a sus hombres, diciendo: No temas de los siervos de los caldeos; Sigue viviendo en la tierra bajo el gobierno del rey de Babilonia, y todo estará bien.
Then Gedaliah gave his oath to them and their men, saying, Have no fear because of the servants of the Chaldaeans; go on living in the land under the rule of the king of Babylon, and all will be well.
25 Pero en el séptimo mes, Ismael, hijo de Netanías, hijo de Elisama, de la simiente del rey, vino con diez hombres e hizo un ataque a Gedalías, causando su muerte y la muerte de los judíos y Caldeos que estaban con él en Mizpa.
But in the seventh month, Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the king's seed, came with ten men and made an attack on Gedaliah, causing his death and the death of the Jews and the Chaldaeans who were with him at Mizpah.
26 Entonces todo el pueblo, pequeño y grande, y los capitanes de las fuerzas, se levantaron y se fueron a Egipto, por temor a los caldeos.
Then all the people, small and great, and the captains of the forces, got up and went away to Egypt, for fear of the Chaldaeans.
27 Y en el año treinta y siete después de que Joaquín, rey de Judá, fuera tomado prisionero, en el mes doce, el día veintisiete del mes, Evil-merodac, rey de Babilonia, en el primer año de su gobierno, tomó a Joaquín, rey de Judá, de la cárcel;
And in the thirty-seventh year after Jehoiachin, king of Judah, had been taken prisoner, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, Evil-merodach, king of Babylon, in the first year of his rule, took Jehoiachin, king of Judah, out of prison;
28 Y le dijo palabras amables, y puso su asiento más alto que los asientos de los otros reyes que estaban con él en Babilonia.
And said kind words to him, and put his seat higher than the seats of the other kings who were with him in Babylon.
29 Se cambió la vestimenta de la prisión, y él fue invitado a la mesa del rey todos los días por el resto de su vida.
And his prison clothing was changed, and he was a guest at the king's table every day for the rest of his life.
30 Y para su comida, el rey le dio una cantidad regular todos los días por el resto de su vida.
And for his food, the king gave him a regular amount every day for the rest of his life.
