2 Reyes 14

1 En el segundo año de Joás, hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel, Amasías, hijo de Joás, se convirtió en rey de Judá.

In the second year of Joash son of Joahaz king of Israel began Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah to reign.

2 Tenía veinticinco años cuando llegó a ser rey; y reinó en Jerusalén veintinueve años; El nombre de su madre fue Joadan de Jerusalén.

He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

3 Hizo lo correcto ante los ojos del Señor, aunque no como David su padre; hizo conforme a todas las cosas que Joás su padre había hecho.

And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, yet not like David his father; he did according to all that Joash his father had done.

4 Pero aún los lugares altos no fueron quitados; La gente siguió haciendo sacrificios quemando incienso en los lugares altos.

Howbeit the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and offered in the high places.

5 Y cuando se hizo fuerte en el reino, enseguida dio muerte a aquellos siervos que habían tomado la vida del rey, su padre;

And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, that he slew his servants who had slain the king his father;

6 Pero él no mató a sus hijos; porque las órdenes del Señor registradas en el libro de la ley de Moisés dicen: Los padres no deben ser condenados a muerte por los hijos, o los hijos por sus padres; pero un hombre debe ser muerto por el pecado que él mismo ha hecho.

but the children of the murderers he put not to death; according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, as the LORD commanded saying: 'The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.'

7 Puso a la espada a doce mil hombres de Edom en el Valle de la Sal, y tomó a Sela en guerra, llamándola Jocteel, como lo es hasta hoy.

He slew of Edom in the Valley of Salt ten thousand, and took Sela by war, and called the name of it Joktheel, unto this day.

8 Entonces Amasías envió representantes a Joás, hijo de Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, y le dijo: Vamos, tengamos una reunión cara a cara.

Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying: 'Come, let us look one another in the face.'

9 Y Joás, rey de Israel, envió a Amasías, rey de Judá, diciendo: Él cardo en el Líbano envió al cedro del Líbano, diciendo: Da tu hija a mi hijo por esposa, pero una bestia desde el bosque en el Líbano pasó, aplastando al cardo bajo sus pies.

And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying: 'The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying: Give thy daughter to my son to wife; and there passed by the wild beasts that were in Lebanon, and trod down the thistle.

10 Es cierto que has vencido a Edom y tu corazón se ha elevado; deja que esa gloria sea suficiente para ti, y guárdala en tu país; ¿Por qué causas problemas al ponerte a ti y a Judá en peligro de caída?

Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and will thy heart lift thee up? glory therein, and remain at home; for why shouldest thou meddle with evil, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

11 Pero Amasías no le prestó atención. Entonces subió Joás, rey de Israel, y él y Amasías, rey de Judá, se encontraron cara a cara en Bet-semes, que está en Judá.

But Amaziah would not hear. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.

12 Y Judá fue vencido delante de Israel, y salieron huyendo, cada uno a su tienda.

And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to his tent.

13 Entonces Joás, rey de Israel, hizo a Amasías, rey de Judá, hijo de Joás, hijo de Ocozías, preso en Bet-semes, y vino a Jerusalén, y derribó el muro de Jerusalén de la puerta de Efraín a la puerta de la esquina, cuatrocientos codos.

And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

14 Tomó todo el oro, la plata y todas las vasijas que estaban en la casa del Señor y en el almacén del rey, junto con aquellos que tomó como rehenes, y se fue de vuelta a Samaria.

And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.

15 Los demás hechos de Joás y su poder, y cómo fue a la guerra con Amasías, rey de Judá, ¿no están registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

16 Y Joás durmió con sus padres, y fue enterrado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel; y Jeroboam su hijo se hizo rey en su lugar.

And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.

17 Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, siguió viviendo durante quince años después de la muerte de Joás, hijo de Joacaz, rey de Israel.

And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.

18 Y los demás hechos de Amasías, ¿no están registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

19 Entonces hicieron un plan secreto contra él en Jerusalén; y se fue a huir a Laquis, pero lo enviaron a Laquis y lo mataron allí.

And they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.

20 Y tomaron su cuerpo a caballo y lo enterraron con sus padres en Jerusalén, la ciudad de David.

And they brought him upon horses; and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.

And all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.

He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

23 En el decimoquinto año del gobierno de Amasías, hijo de Joás, rey de Judá, Jeroboam, hijo de Joás, rey de Israel, se convirtió en rey en Samaria, y reinó durante cuarenta y un años.

In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.

24 Hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, sin apartarse del pecado que hizo Jeroboam, el hijo de Nabat, e hizo pecar a Israel.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin.

25 Recuperó los viejos límites de Israel desde el camino a Hamat hasta el mar de Araba, como lo había dicho el Señor por su siervo Jonás, el hijo de Amitai, el profeta de Gat-hefer.

He restored the border of Israel from the entrance of Hamath unto the sea of the Arabah, according to the word of the LORD, the God of Israel, which He spoke by the hand of His servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was of Gath-hepher.

26 Porque el Señor vio lo amargo que era el problema de Israel, y que nadie había escapado, y que Israel no tenía ayuda.

For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter; for there was none shut up nor left at large, neither was there any helper for Israel.

27 Y el Señor no había dicho que el nombre de Israel debía ser quitado de la tierra; pero él les dio un salvador en Jeroboam, el hijo de Joás.

And the LORD said not that He would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven; but He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

28 Ahora, el resto de los actos de Jeroboam, y todo lo que hizo, y su poder, y cómo fue a la guerra y cómo recuperó Damasco, y Hamat para Israel, ¿no están registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, for Judah in Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

29 Y Jeroboam durmió fue con sus padres, y fue enterrado con los reyes de Israel; y su hijo Zacarías se convirtió en rey en su lugar.

And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zechariah his son reigned in his stead.
