2 Reyes 10

1 En Samaria había setenta hijos de Acab. Y Jehú envió cartas a Samaria, a los gobernantes del pueblo, a los hombres gobernantes, y a los que cuidaban a los hijos de Acab, diciendo:

And Ahab has seventy sons in Samaria, and Jehu writes letters, and sends [them] to Samaria, to the heads of Jezreel, the elderly, and to those supporting Ahab, saying,

2 Enseguida, cuando reciban esta carta, como los hijos de su amo están con ustedes y que tiene carruajes y caballos y una ciudad fortificada;

“And now, at the coming in of this letter to you, and sons of your lord [are] with you, and the chariots and the horses, and a fortified city, and the armor, [are] with you,

3 Toma al mejor y más recto de los hijos de tu amo, hazlo rey en lugar de su padre, y pelea por la familia de tu amo.

that you have seen the best and the most upright of the sons of your lord, and have set [him] on the throne of his father, and fight for the house of your lord.”

4 Pero estaban llenos de temor, y dijeron: Los dos reyes han caído delante de él: ¿cómo podemos mantener nuestro lugar?

And they fear very greatly, and say, “Behold, the two kings have not stood before him, and how do we stand—we?”

5 Así que el mayordomo de la casa del rey, con el gobernante de la ciudad, y los hombres responsables, y los que cuidaron a los hijos de Acab, enviaron a Jehú, diciendo: Somos tus sirvientes y haremos todo lo que quieras; No haremos rey a nadie; haz lo que te parezca mejor.

And he who [is] over the house, and he who [is] over the city, and the elderly, and those supporting, send to Jehu, saying, “We [are] your servants, and all that you say to us we do; we do not make anyone king—do that which [is] good in your eyes.”

6 Luego les envió una segunda carta, diciendo: Si estás de mi lado y si obedeces mis órdenes, ven a mí a Jezreel mañana a esta hora, con los jefes de los hijos de tu amo. Ahora los setenta hijos del rey estaban con los grandes hombres de la ciudad, quienes los cuidaban.

And he writes a letter to them a second time, saying, “If you [are] for me, and are listening to my voice, take the heads of the men—the sons of your lord, and come to me about this time tomorrow, to Jezreel”; and the sons of the king [are] seventy men, with the great ones of the city—those bringing them up.

7 Cuando llegaron a ellos la carta, tomaron a los hijos del rey y los mataron a todos, los setenta, y pusieron sus cabezas en canastas y se las enviaron a Jezreel.

And it comes to pass, at the coming in of the letter to them, that they take the sons of the king, and slaughter seventy men, and put their heads in baskets, and send [them] to him at Jezreel,

8 Y un hombre vino y le dijo: Han venido con los jefes de los hijos del rey. Y él dijo: Ponedlos en dos montones en la entrada del pueblo hasta la mañana.

and the messenger comes in, and declares [it] to him, saying, “They have brought in the heads of the sons of the king,” and he says, “Make them two heaps at the opening of the gate until the morning.”

9 Y por la mañana salió y, deteniéndose, dijo a todos los que estaban allí: Ustedes son hombres rectos: es cierto que hice planes contra mi amo y lo maté. ¿Pero quién es responsable de la muerte de todos estos?

And it comes to pass in the morning, that he goes out, and stands, and says to all the people, “You are righteous; behold, I have conspired against my lord, and slay him—and who struck all these?

10 Puede estar seguro de que nada de lo que el Señor ha dicho acerca de la familia de Acab quedará sin efecto; porque el Señor ha hecho lo que hablo por medio de su siervo Elías.

Now you know that nothing falls of the word of YHWH to the earth that YHWH spoke against the house of Ahab, and YHWH has done that which He spoke by the hand of His servant Elijah.”

11 Entonces Jehú mató a todos los demás de la simiente de Acab en Jezreel, y a todas sus gobernantes, a sus parientes, a sus amigos cercanos y a sus sacerdotes, hasta que no hubo más de ellos.

And Jehu strikes all those left to the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his acquaintances, and his priests, until he has not left a remnant to him.

12 Luego se levantó y fue a Samaria. Y él estaba en el lugar de reunión de los criadores de ovejas, por cierto,

And he rises, and comes in and goes to Samaria; he [is] at the shepherds’ shearing-house in the way,

13 Cuando se encontró con los hermanos de Ocozías, rey de Judá, y dijo: ¿Quién eres? Y ellos dijeron: Nosotros somos los hermanos de Ocozías, rey de Judá; Bajamos a ver a los hijos del rey y de la reina.

and Jehu has found the brothers of Ahaziah king of Judah and says, “Who [are] you?” And they say, “We [are] brothers of Ahaziah, and we go down to greet the sons of the king and the sons of the mistress.”

14 Y él dijo: Tómalos vivos. Así que los tomaron vivos y los mataron en el pozo de agua de Bet-equed; de los cuarenta y dos hombres dio muerte a cada uno;

And he says, “Catch them alive”; and they catch them alive, and slaughter them at the pit of the shearing-house, forty-two men, and he has not left [even one] man of them.

15 Y cuando se hubo ido de allí, se encontró con Jonadab, el hijo de Recab: y le dijo buenos días a él, y le dijo: ¿Es tu corazón fiel al mío, como el mío es al tuyo? Y respondiendo Jonadab: Lo es; Y Jehú dijo: Si es así, dame tu mano. Y él le dio su mano, y lo hizo subir a su carruaje.

And he goes there, and finds Jehonadab son of Rechab to meet him, and blesses him, and says to him, “Is your heart right, as my heart [is] with your heart?” And Jehonadab says, “It is.” “Then it is; give your hand”; and he gives his hand, and he causes him to come up into the chariot to him,

16 Y él dijo: Ven conmigo y verás cómo estoy ardiendo por la causa del Señor. Así que lo hizo ir con él en su carruaje.

and says, “Come with me, and look on my zeal for YHWH”; and they cause him to ride in his chariot.

17 Cuando llegó a Samaria, mató a todos los de la familia de Acab que todavía estaban en Samaria, hasta que no hubo más de ellos, como el Señor le había dicho a Elías.

And he comes to Samaria, and strikes all those left to Ahab in Samaria, until his destroying him, according to the word of YHWH that He spoke to Elisha.

18 Entonces Jehú reunió a todo el pueblo y les dijo: Acab sirvió a Baal en poco, pero Jehú servirá en gran escala.

And Jehu gathers the whole of the people and says to them, “Ahab served Ba‘al a little—Jehu serves him much:

19 Envía a todos los profetas de Baal, a todos sus siervos y a todos sus sacerdotes, para que vengan a mí; que nadie se aleje, porque tengo una gran ofrenda para hacer a Baal; Cualquiera que no esté presente, será ejecutado. Jehú lo hizo con engaño, siendo su propósito la destrucción de los sirvientes de Baal.

and now, all the prophets of Ba‘al, all his servants, and all his priests, call to me; do not let a man be lacking, for I have a great sacrifice for Ba‘al; everyone who is lacking—he does not live”; and Jehu has done [it] in subtlety, in order to destroy the servants of Ba‘al.

20 Y Jehú dijo: Que haya una reunión santa especial para la adoración de Baal. Así que se hizo una declaración pública.

And Jehu says, “Sanctify a restraint for Ba‘al”; and they proclaim [it].

21 Y envió Jehú por todo Israel; Y vinieron todos los siervos de Baal, y ninguno se apartó. Y entraron en la casa de Baal, de modo que estaba llena de punta a punta.

And Jehu sends into all Israel, and all the servants of Ba‘al come in, and there has not been left a man who has not come in; and they come into the house of Ba‘al, and the house of Ba‘al is full—mouth to mouth.

22 Y Jehú dijo al que guardaba las túnicas: Quitad la túnica a todos los siervos de Baal. Así que les sacó cambio de túnica.

And he says to him who [is] over the wardrobe, “Bring out clothing for all those serving Ba‘al”; and he brings out the clothing to them.

23 Y Jehú, con Jonadab, hijo de Recab, entró en la casa de Baal; y dijo a los siervos de Baal: Haz una búsqueda con cuidado, para ver que ningún siervo del Señor esté contigo, sino los siervos de Baal.

And Jehu goes in—and Jehonadab son of Rechab—to the house of Ba‘al, and says to the servants of Ba‘al, “Search and see, lest there be [any] from the servants of YHWH here with you—but [only] the servants of Ba‘al by themselves.”

24 Luego entraron para hacer sacrificios y ofrendas quemadas. Ahora Jehú había sacado a ochenta hombres y les había dicho: Si alguno de los que he puesto en tus manos se escapa, la vida de quien lo deje ir será el precio de su vida.

And they come in to make sacrifices and burnt-offerings, and Jehu has set eighty men for himself in an out-place, and says, “The man who lets [any] of the men whom I am bringing into your hand escape—his soul for his soul.”

25 Luego, cuando terminó la ofrenda quemada, de inmediato Jehú dijo a los hombres armados y a los capitanes: “Entren y matenlos; Que no salga nadie. Y los mataron a filo de espada. y, tirando de las imágenes a la tierra, entraron al santuario de la casa de Baal.

And it comes to pass, at his finishing to make the burnt-offering, that Jehu says to the runners and to the captains, “Go in, strike them, let none come out”; and they strike them by the mouth of the sword, and the runners and the captains cast [them] out; and they go to the city, to the house of Ba‘al,

26 Y sacaron la imagen de Asera de la casa de Baal, y la quemaron.

and bring out the standing-pillars of the house of Ba‘al, and burn them,

27 El altar de Baal fue derribado y la casa de Baal fue destruida y se convirtió en una letrina, como lo es hasta hoy.

and break down the standing-pillar of Ba‘al, and break down the house of Ba‘al, and appoint it for a latrine to this day.

28 Entonces Jehú puso fin a la adoración de Baal en Israel.

And Jehu destroys Ba‘al out of Israel,

29 Pero Jehú no se apartó de todos los pecados de Jeroboam, el hijo de Nebat, y del mal que hizo que Israel hiciera; Los bueyes de oro todavía estaban en Betel y en Dan.

only [not]—the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he caused Israel to sin, Jehu has not turned aside from after them—the calves of gold that [are] at Beth-El and in Dan.

30 Y el Señor le dijo a Jehú: Porque has hecho bien en hacer lo correcto ante mis ojos y cumpliendo todos mis propósitos para la familia de Acab, tus hijos serán reyes de Israel hasta la cuarta generación.

And YHWH says to Jehu, “Because that you have done well, to do that which [is] right in My eyes—according to all that [is] in My heart you have done to the house of Ahab—the sons of the fourth [generation] sit on the throne of Israel for you.”

31 Pero Jehú no se preocupó de guardar la ley del Señor con todo su corazón: no se apartó del pecado que Jeroboam hizo pecar a Israel.

And Jehu has not taken heed to walk in the Law of YHWH, God of Israel, with all his heart; he has not turned aside from the sins of Jeroboam that he caused Israel to sin.

32 En aquellos días, el Señor se enojó primero con Israel; y Hazael atacó toda la tierra de Israel,

In those days YHWH has begun to cut off [some] in Israel, and Hazael strikes them in all the border of Israel,

33 Al este del río Jordán, en toda la tierra de Galaad, Gad, Rubén y Manasés, desde Aroer por el valle del Arnón, todos ellos, Galaad y Basán.

from the Jordan, at the sun-rising: the whole land of Gilead, of the Gadite, and the Reubenite, and the Manassite (from Aroer, that [is] by the Brook of Arnon), even Gilead and Bashan.

34 Los demás hechos de Jehú, y todo lo que hizo, y su gran poder, ¿no están registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

And the rest of the matters of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

35 Y Jehú durmió con sus padres, y lo enterraron en Samaria. Y su hijo Joacaz fue rey en su lugar.

And Jehu lies with his fathers, and they bury him in Samaria, and his son Jehoahaz reigns in his stead.

36 Y el tiempo del gobierno de Jehú sobre Israel en Samaria fue de veintiocho años.

And the days that Jehu has reigned over Israel in Samaria [are] twenty-eight years.
