2 Crónicas 34

1 Josías tenía ocho años cuando llegó a ser rey; reinó en Jerusalén durante treinta y un años.

Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem one and thirty years.

2 E hizo lo correcto ante los ojos del Señor, andando en los caminos de su padre David, sin volverse hacia la mano derecha o hacia la izquierda.

And he did that which was right in the sight of YHWH, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left.

3 En el octavo año de su gobierno, cuando aún era joven, su corazón se volvió primero hacia el Dios de su padre David; y en el año duodécimo, emprendió la limpieza de todos los lugares altos, los pilares y las imágenes de madera y metal fundido de Judá y Jerusalén.

For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the Elohim of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.

4 Tuvo que derribar los altares de los baales, mientras él estaba presente; y las imágenes del sol que se colocaron en lo alto sobre ellas, las había cortado; y los pilares de madera y las imágenes de metal que había roto y aplastado hasta convertirlos en polvo, dejando caer el polvo sobre los lugares de descanso de los muertos que les habían hecho ofrendas.

And they brake down the altars of Baalim in his presence; and the images, that were on high above them, he cut down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and strowed it upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.

5 Y quemaron los huesos de los sacerdotes en sus altares, y así hizo purificó a Judá y a Jerusalén.

And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and cleansed Judah and Jerusalem.

6 Y en todas las ciudades de Manasés, Efraín y Simeón, hasta Neftalí, con sus espadas alrededor.

And so did he in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their mattocks round about.

7 Hizo derribar los altares y las columnas de madera y las imágenes se convirtieron en polvo, y todas las imágenes del sol se cortaron en toda la tierra de Israel, y luego regresó a Jerusalén.

And when he had broken down the altars and the groves, and had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.

8 Ahora, en el decimoctavo año de su gobierno, cuando la tierra y el templo se purificaron, envió a Safán, el hijo de Azalías, y a Amasías, el gobernante de la ciudad, y a Joa, el hijo de Joacaz, el registrador, para reparar lo que fue dañado en la casa del Señor su Dios.

Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land, and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of YHWH his Elohim.

9 Y vinieron a Hilcías, el principal sacerdote, y le dieron todo el dinero que había sido llevado a la casa de Dios, que los levitas, los guardianes de la puerta, habían recibido de Manasés y Efraín y los de Israel que quedaron, y de todos Judá y Benjamín y el pueblo de Jerusalén.

And when they came to Hilkiah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the house of Elohim, which the Levites that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin; and they returned to Jerusalem.

10 Y se lo dieron a los supervisores de la obra del templo del Señor, y los supervisores se lo dieron a los trabajadores que trabajaban en él templo, para la reparación y reparar lo que estaba dañado;

And they put it in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of YHWH, and they gave it to the workmen that wrought in the house of YHWH, to repair and amend the house:

11 Incluso a los carpinteros y albañiles se les dio para comprar la piedra de cantería y la madera para unir la estructura y para hacer entabladuras para las casas que los reyes de Judá habían entregado a la destrucción.

Even to the artificers and builders gave they it, to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to floor the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.

12 Y los hombres hicieron fielmente su trabajo; y los que tenían autoridad sobre ellos eran Jahat y Abdías, levitas de los hijos de Merari, y Zacarías y Mesulam, de los hijos de Coat, quienes debían ser responsables de ver que el trabajo estaba hecho; y otros de los levitas, expertos en instrumentos musicales,

And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward; and other of the Levites, all that could kill of instruments of musick.

13 Tenía autoridad sobre los trabajadores del transporte, dando instrucciones a todos los que estaban haciendo algún tipo de trabajo; y entre los levitas había escribas y supervisores y guardianes de puertas.

Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and were overseers of all that wrought the work in any manner of service: and of the Levites there were scribes, and officers, and porters.

14 Cuando sacaban el dinero que había entrado en la casa del Señor, el sacerdote Hilcías encontró el libro de la ley del Señor, que había dado por boca de Moisés.

And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of YHWH, Hilkiah the priest found a book of the law of YHWH given by Moses.

15 Entonces Hilcías dijo al escriba Safán: He descubierto el libro de la ley en la casa del Señor. Y Hilcías le dio el libro a Safán.

And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of YHWH. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.

16 Y Safán llevó el libro al rey; y le contó lo que había hecho, diciendo: Tus siervos están haciendo todo lo que se les ha dado a hacer;

And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and brought the king word back again, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they do it.

17 Sacaron todo el dinero que estaba en la casa del Señor y se lo dieron a los supervisores y a los obreros.

And they have gathered together the money that was found in the house of YHWH, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and to the hand of the workmen.

18 Entonces el escriba Safán dijo al rey: El sacerdote Hilcías me ha dado un libro; y él comenzó a leerle algo al rey.

Then Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath given me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.

19 Y el rey, oyendo las palabras de la ley, tomó su túnica en sus manos, rasgándola como señal de su dolor.

And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes.

20 Y dio órdenes a Hilcías, a Ahicam, hijo de Safán, a Abdón, hijo de Micaías, a Safán, el escriba y a Asaías, el siervo del rey, diciendo:

And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king's, saying,

21 Ve y obtén instrucciones del Señor para mí y para aquellos que todavía están en Israel y para Judá, acerca de las palabras de este libro que salió a la luz; porque grande es la ira del Señor que se ha desatado sobre nosotros, porque nuestros padres no han guardado la palabra del Señor ni han hecho lo que está registrado en este libro.

Go, inquire of YHWH for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great is the wrath of YHWH that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of YHWH, to do after all that is written in this book.

22 Entonces Hilcías, y los que envió el rey, fue a Hulda, la mujer profeta, la mujer de Salum, el hijo de Ticva, el hijo de Hasras, el guardián de las túnicas del templo ahora vivía en Jerusalén, en la segunda parte del pueblo; y habían hablado con ella sobre esto.

And Hilkiah, and they that the king had appointed, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college: ) and they spake to her to that effect.

23 Y ella les dijo: él Señor, el Dios de Israel, ha dicho: Dile al hombre que te envió a mí:

And she answered them, Thus saith YHWH Elohim of Israel, Tell ye the man that sent you to me,

24 Estas son las palabras del Señor: Mira, enviaré el mal en este lugar y en su gente, incluso todas las maldiciones en el libro que han estado leyendo ante el rey de Judá;

Thus saith YHWH, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah:

25 Porque me han abandonado, quemando ofrendas a otros dioses y moviéndome a la ira por todas las obras de sus manos; así mi ira se suelta en este lugar y no se apagará.

Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other elohim, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.

26 Pero al rey de Judá, que te envió a recibir instrucciones del Señor, di: “Esto es lo que el Señor, el Dios de Israel, ha dicho: Porque has escuchado mis palabras,

And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of YHWH, so shall ye say unto him, Thus saith YHWH Elohim of Israel concerning the words which thou hast heard;

27 Y Porque tu corazón se enterneció, y te humillaste ante Dios, al escuchar sus palabras acerca de este lugar y su gente, y con llanto y signos de dolor te has humillado ante mí, te he escuchado, dice el Señor Dios.

Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before Elohim, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith YHWH.

28 Mira, te dejaré ir a tus padres y ponerte en tu último lugar de descanso en paz, y tus ojos no verán todo el mal que enviaré sobre este lugar y sobre su gente. Así que le llevaron estas noticias al rey.

Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again.

29 Entonces el rey envió y reunió a todos los hombres responsables de Judá y de Jerusalén.

Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.

30 Y subió el rey a la casa del Señor, con todos los hombres de Judá y el pueblo de Jerusalén, y los sacerdotes y los levitas y todo el pueblo, grandes y pequeños; y estuvieron presentes en su lectura del libro de la ley que había salido a la luz en la casa del Señor.

And the king went up into the house of YHWH, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of YHWH.

31 Entonces el rey, tomando su lugar junto al pilar, llegó a un acuerdo ante el Señor, para ir por el camino del Señor, y para cumplir sus órdenes y sus decisiones y sus reglas con todo su corazón y con todos Su alma, y para guardar las palabras del acuerdo registrado en este libro.

And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before YHWH, to walk after YHWH, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.

32 E hizo que todos los habitantes de Jerusalén y Benjamín cumplieran su palabra para cumplirla. Y el pueblo de Jerusalén mantuvo el acuerdo de Dios, el Dios de sus padres.

And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of Elohim, the Elohim of their fathers.

33 Josías quitó todas las cosas repugnantes de todas las tierras de los hijos de Israel, e hizo a todos los que estaban en Israel siervos del Señor su Dios. Y mientras estuvo vivo, fueron fieles al Señor, el Dios de sus padres.

And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve, even to serve YHWH their Elohim. And all his days they departed not from following YHWH, the Elohim of their fathers.
