2 Crónicas 24
1 Joás tenía siete años cuando comenzó a reinar, y gobernó durante cuarenta años en Jerusalén. Él nombre de su madre era Sibia de Beerseba.
Joash was seven years old when he began to reign; and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.
2 Y Joás hizo lo que era correcto a los ojos del Señor mientras viviera Joiada, el sacerdote.
And Joash did what was right in the sight of Jehovah all the days of Jehoiada the priest.
3 Y Joiada tomó dos esposas por él, y él fue padre de hijos e hijas.
And Jehoiada took for him two wives; and he begot sons and daughters.
4 Después de esto, Joás tuvo el deseo de poner la casa del Señor en orden nuevamente;
And it came to pass after this, that Joash was minded to renew the house of Jehovah.
5 Y reuniendo a los sacerdotes y levitas, les dijo: Salgan de las ciudades de Judá año tras año, y obtengan de todo el dinero de Israel para mantener la casa de su Dios en buenas condiciones; y ver que esto se hace sin pérdida de tiempo. Los levitas, sin embargo, tardaron en hacerlo.
And he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out to the cities of Judah and collect of all Israel money for the repair of the house of your God from year to year, and ye shall hasten the matter. But the Levites hastened it not.
6 Entonces el rey envió a Joiada, el principal sacerdote, y le dijo: Por qué no les has dado a los levitas órdenes de que el impuesto fijado por Moisés, el siervo del Señor, y por la reunión de Israel, ordenaron recoger para la Tienda del pacto, debe ser enviada desde Judá y Jerusalén.
And the king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said to him, Why hast thou not required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the tribute of Moses the servant of Jehovah [laid upon] the congregation of Israel, for the tent of the testimony?
7 Porque la casa del Señor había sido destruida por Atalía, esa mujer malvada, y sus hijos; y todas las cosas santas que habían dado a los baales.
For the wicked Athaliah [and] her sons had devastated the house of God; and also all the hallowed things of the house of Jehovah had they employed for the Baals.
8 Así que por orden del rey hicieron un cofre y lo pusieron fuera de la puerta de la casa del Señor.
And the king commanded, and they made a chest, and set it at the gate of the house of Jehovah without,
9 A través de todo Judá y Jerusalén se envió una orden para que se hiciera un pago al Señor del impuesto que Moisés, el siervo de Dios, había impuesto a Israel en el desierto.
and they made a proclamation through Judah and Jerusalem, to bring to Jehovah the tribute of Moses the servant of God [laid upon] Israel in the wilderness.
10 Y todos los jefes y todas las personas vinieron alegremente y pusieron su dinero en el cofre, hasta llenarlo.
And all the princes and all the people rejoiced, and brought in and cast into the chest, until they had finished.
11 Entonces, cuando los levitas llevaron el cofre a los siervos del rey, y vieron que había mucho dinero en él, el escriba del rey y el siervo del sacerdote principal sacaron el dinero y lo volvían a poner en su lugar. Así lo hicieron día a día, y reunieron una gran cantidad de dinero.
And it came to pass at the time the chest was brought for the king's control by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, the king's scribe and high priest's officer came, and they emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to its place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance.
12 Entonces el rey y Joiada se lo dieron a los responsables de hacer el trabajo en la casa del Señor, y con ello consiguieron que los constructores de paredes y los trabajadores de la madera, el metal, canteros y repararon el templo del Señor.
And the king and Jehoiada gave it to such as did the work of the service of the house of Jehovah, and they hired masons and carpenters to renew the house of Jehovah, and also such as wrought in iron and bronze, to repair the house of Jehovah.
13 Entonces los obreros hicieron su trabajo, repararon lo que estaba dañado y repararon la casa de Dios de acuerdo a sus planos y la reforzaron otra vez.
So the workmen wrought, and the work was perfected by them, and they set the house of God in its state, and strengthened it.
14 Y cuando se hizo el trabajo, llevaron el resto del dinero al rey y a Joiada, y se usó para hacer los recipientes para la casa del Señor, todos los recipientes necesarios para las ofrendas, las cucharas y los vasos de oro y plata. Y mientras vivía Joiada, las ofrendas quemadas se ofrecían en la casa del Señor.
And when they had finished, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada; and they made of it vessels for the house of Jehovah, utensils to minister, and with which to offer up, and cups, and utensils of gold and silver. And they offered up burnt-offerings in the house of Jehovah continually all the days of Jehoiada.
15 Pero Joiada envejeció y se llenó de días, y llegó a su fin; Tenía ciento treinta años en el momento de su muerte.
And Jehoiada grew old and was full of days, and he died; he was a hundred and thirty years old when he died.
16 Y lo enterraron en la ciudad de David, entre los reyes, porque había hecho el bien en Israel con Dios y con su templo.
And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God and toward his house.
17 Después de la muerte de Joiada, los jefes de Judá vinieron y se postraron sobre sus rostros ante el rey. Entonces el rey les prestó oído.
And after the death of Jehoiada the princes of Judah came and made obeisance to the king; then the king hearkened to them.
18 Y dejaron la casa del Señor Dios de sus padres, y se convirtieron en adoradores de los pilares de madera y de las imágenes; y debido a este pecado de ellos, vino ira sobre Judá y Jerusalén.
And they forsook the house of Jehovah the God of their fathers, and served the Asherahs and idols; and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass.
19 Y el Señor les envió profetas para que regresaran a él; y dieron testimonio contra ellos, pero no quisieron escuchar.
And he sent prophets among them to bring them again to Jehovah, and they testified against them; but they would not give ear.
20 Entonces vino el espíritu de Dios sobre Zacarías, el hijo del sacerdote Joiada, y levantándose delante del pueblo, les dijo: Dios ha dicho: ¿Por qué vas contra las órdenes del Señor? todo te va mal? porque han abandonado al Señor, él te ha abandonará.
And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest; and he stood up above the people and said unto them, Thus saith God: Wherefore do ye transgress the commandments of Jehovah? And ye cannot prosper; for ye have forsaken Jehovah, and he hath forsaken you.
21 Pero cuando hicieron un plan secreto contra él, fue apedreado con piedras, por orden del rey, en el atrio exterior del templo del Señor.
And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the command of the king in the court of the house of Jehovah.
22 Entonces el rey Joás no tuvo en cuenta lo bueno que había sido su padre Joiada, sino que mató a su hijo Zacarías, Y en la hora de su muerte, dijo: ¡Que el Señor lo vea y reciba el pago!
And king Joash remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, Jehovah see and require [it]!
23 Ahora, en la primavera, el ejército de los sirios se alzó contra él; vinieron contra Judá y Jerusalén, matando a todos los grandes hombres del pueblo y enviando todos los bienes que tomaron de ellos al rey de Damasco.
And it came to pass at the end of the year [that] the army of Syria came up against him; and they entered into Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people, and sent all the spoil of them to the king at Damascus.
24 Porque aunque el ejército de Siria era muy pequeño, el Señor puso en sus manos un ejército muy grande, porque habían abandonado al Señor, el Dios de sus antepasados. Así ejecutaron castigo contra Joás.
Truly with a small company of men came the army of the Syrians, but Jehovah delivered a very great army into their hand, because they had forsaken Jehovah the God of their fathers; and they executed judgment upon Joash.
25 Y cuando ellos se alejaron de él porque estaba gravemente herido, sus siervos hicieron un plan secreto contra él por la sangre del hijo del sacerdote Joiada, y lo mataron en su cama; y lo enterraron en la ciudad de David, pero no en el panteón de los reyes.
And when they had departed from him (for they left him in great diseases), his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and slew him on his bed, and he died; and they buried him in the city of David, but they did not bury him in the sepulchres of the kings.
26 Los que hicieron planes contra él fueron Zabad, el hijo de Simeat, un amonita, y Jozaba, el hijo de Simrit, un moabita.
And these are they that conspired against him: Zabad the son of Shimeath an Ammonitess, and Jehozabad the son of Shimrith a Moabitess.
27 Ahora, la historia de sus hijos, y todas las palabras que el profeta dijo contra él, y la edificación de la casa del Señor, están registradas en el libro de los reyes. Y su hijo Amasías se hizo rey en su lugar.
And as to his sons, and the greatness of the burdens [laid] upon him, and the building of the house of God, behold, they are written in the treatise of the book of the kings. And Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.
