2 Crónicas 13
1 En el año dieciocho del rey Jeroboam, Abías se convirtió en rey de Judá.
In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, Abijah reigns over Judah;
2 Fue rey en Jerusalén durante tres años; El nombre de su madre era Maaca, la hija de Uriel de Guibea. Y hubo guerra entre Abías y Jeroboam.
he has reigned three years in Jerusalem (and the name of his mother [is] Michaiah daughter of Uriel, from Gibeah), and there has been war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
3 Y Abías salió a pelear con un ejército de hombres de guerra, cuatrocientos mil de sus mejores hombres; y Jeroboam alineó sus fuerzas contra él, ochocientos mil de sus mejores hombres de guerra.
And Abijah directs the war with a force of mighty men of war, four hundred thousand chosen men, and Jeroboam has set in array [for] battle with him, with eight hundred thousand chosen men, mighty men of valor.
4 Y Abías tomó posición en el monte Zemaraim, en la región montañosa de Efraín, y dijo: Escúchenme, Jeroboam y todo Israel:
And Abijah rises up on the hill of Zemaraim that [is] in the hill-country of Ephraim, and says, “Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel!
5 ¿No te queda claro que el Señor, el Dios de Israel, le dio el gobierno de Israel a David y sus hijos para siempre, por un acuerdo hecho con sal?
Is it not for you to know that YHWH, God of Israel, has given the kingdom over Israel to David for all time, to him and to his sons—a covenant of salt?
6 Más Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, siervo de Salomón, hijo de David, tomó las armas contra su señor.
And Jeroboam, son of Nebat, servant of Solomon son of David, rises up and rebels against his lord!
7 Y ciertos hombres insensatos y perversos se unieron a él y se impusieron contra Roboam, el hijo de Salomón, pues era joven y débil de carácter, y no podía retenerlos.
And vain men are gathered to him, sons of worthlessness, and they strengthen themselves against Rehoboam son of Solomon, and Rehoboam was a youth, and tender of heart, and has not strengthened himself against them.
8 Ahora es su propósito ponerse en contra de la autoridad que el Señor ha puesto en manos de los hijos de David, y ustedes, son una gran multitud y tienen con ustedes los bueyes de oro que hizo Jeroboam para ser sus dioses.
And now you are saying to strengthen yourselves before the kingdom of YHWH in the hand of the sons of David, and you [are] a numerous multitude, and calves of gold [are] with you that Jeroboam has made for you for gods.
9 Y después de expulsar a los sacerdotes del Señor, los hijos de Aarón y los levitas, ¿no han hecho sacerdotes de entre ustedes mismos como lo hacen los pueblos de otras tierras? para que cualquiera que venga a hacerse sacerdote ofreciendo un buey o siete ovejas, pueda ser un sacerdote de aquellos que no son dioses.
Have you not cast out the priests of YHWH, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and make priests for yourselves like the peoples of the lands? Everyone who has come to fill his hand with a bullock, a son of the herd, and seven rams, even he has been a priest for [those which are] not gods!
10 Pero en cuanto a nosotros, el Señor es nuestro Dios, y no nos hemos apartado de él; tenemos sacerdotes que hacen la obra del Señor, incluso los hijos de Aarón y los levitas en sus lugares;
As for us, YHWH [is] our God, and we have not forsaken Him, and priests are ministering to YHWH, sons of Aaron and the Levites, in the work,
11 Por quienes las ofrendas quemadas y los inciensos son enviados en humo delante del Señor cada mañana y cada tarde; y pusieron el pan sagrado sobre su mesa y los candelabros de oro con sus luces encendidas cada noche; porque guardamos las órdenes que nos dio el Señor nuestro Dios, pero ustedes se han alejado de él.
and are making incense to YHWH, burnt-offerings morning by morning, and evening by evening, and incense of spices, and the arrangement of bread [is] on the pure table, and the lampstand of gold, and its lamps, to burn evening by evening, for we are keeping the charge of our God YHWH, and you have forsaken Him.
12 Y ahora Dios está con nosotros a la cabeza, y sus sacerdotes con sus fuertes cuernos sonando contra ti. Oh hijos de Israel, no hagan guerra contra el Señor, el Dios de sus antepasados, porque no les irá bien.
And behold, with us—at [our] head—[is] God, and His priests and trumpets of shouting to shout against you; O sons of Israel, do not fight with YHWH, God of your fathers, for you do not prosper.”
13 Pero Jeroboam había puesto a algunos de sus hombres para que los atacaran por la espalda, por lo que algunos se enfrentaban a Judá y otros estaban apostados en secreto a sus espaldas.
And Jeroboam has brought around the ambush to come in from behind them, and they are before Judah, and the ambush [is] behind them.
14 Y Judá, volviendo sus rostros, vio que estaban siendo atacados por delante y por detrás; y clamaron al Señor para pedir ayuda, mientras los sacerdotes hacían sonar sus cuernos.
And Judah turns, and behold, the battle [is] against them, before and behind, and they cry to YHWH, and the priests are blowing with trumpets,
15 Y los hombres de Judá dieron un fuerte clamor; y ante su clamor, Dios derrotó a Jeroboam y a todo Israel delante de Abías y de Judá.
and the men of Judah shout; and it comes to pass, at the shouting of the men of Judah, that God has struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
16 Y huyeron los hijos de Israel delante de Judá, y Dios los entregó en sus manos.
And the sons of Israel flee from the face of Judah, and God gives them into their hand,
17 Y Abías y su pueblo los mataron con gran destrucción; quinientos mil de los mejores de Israel fueron puestos a filo de espada.
and Abijah and his people strike among them a great striking, and five hundred thousand chosen men of Israel fall wounded.
18 Entonces en ese tiempo los hijos de Israel fueron humillados, y los hijos de Judá prevalecieron, porque confiaron en el Señor, el Dios de sus padres.
And the sons of Israel are humbled at that time, and the sons of Judah are strong, for they have leaned on YHWH, God of their fathers.
19 Y Abías fue tras Jeroboam y tomó algunas de sus ciudades, Bethel con sus pueblos pequeños y Jesana con sus pueblos pequeños y Efron con sus pueblos pequeños.
And Abijah pursues after Jeroboam and captures cities from him: Beth-El and its small towns, and Jeshanah and its small towns, and Ephraim and its small towns.
20 Y Jeroboam no volvió a recuperar su poder en la vida de Abías; y el SEÑOR envió muerte sobre él.
And Jeroboam has not retained power anymore in the days of Abijah, and YHWH strikes him, and he dies.
21 Pero Abías se engrandeció, y tuvo catorce esposas, y fue padre de veintidós hijos y dieciséis hijas.
And Abijah strengthens himself, and takes fourteen wives for himself, and begets twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters;
22 Y el resto de los hechos de Abías, y sus caminos y sus dichos, están registrados en el relato del profeta Iddo.
and the rest of the matters of Abijah, and his ways, and his words, are written in the commentary of the prophet Iddo.
