2 Crónicas 12

1 Ahora, cuando la posición de Roboam como rey se había asegurado, y él era fuerte, dejó de cumplir la ley del Señor y todo Israel con él.

And when the kingdom of Roboam was strengthened and fortified, he forsook the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him.

2 Y en el quinto año del rey Roboam, Sisac, rey de Egipto, subió contra Jerusalén por su pecado contra el Señor.

And in the fifth year of the reign of Roboam, Sesac king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem (because they had sinned against the Lord)

3 Con mil doscientos carruajes de guerra y sesenta mil jinetes. Las personas que vinieron con él de Egipto eran más de lo que podrían contar: Libios y Suquienos y etíopes.

With twelve hundred chariots and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt, to wit, Libyans, and Troglodites, and Ethiopians.

4 Tomó las ciudades amuralladas de Judá y llegó hasta Jerusalén.

And he took the strongest cities in Juda, and came to Jerusalem.

5 Entonces el profeta Semaías vino a Roboam y los jefes de Judá, quienes se habían reunido en Jerusalén por causa de Sisac, y les dijeron: El Señor ha dicho: Porque me han abandonado, te he entregado en las manos de Sisac.

And Semeias the prophet came to Roboam, and to the princes of Juda, that were gathered together in Jerusalem, fleeing from Sesac, and he said to them: Thus saith the Lord: You have left me, and I have left you in the hand of Sesac.

6 Entonces los jefes de Israel y el rey se humillaron y dijeron: él Señor es justo.

And the princes of Israel, and the king, being in a consternation, said: The Lord is just.

7 Al ver el Señor, que se habían humillado, dijo a Semaías: Se humillaron; no enviaré destrucción sobre ellos, sino que en breve les daré la salvación, y no se derramará mi ira sobre Jerusalén por la mano de Sisac.

And when the Lord saw that they were humbled, the word of the Lord came to Semeias, saying: Because they are humbled, I will not destroy them, and I will give them a little help, and my wrath shall not fall upon Jerusalem by the hand of Sesac.

8 Pero aun así se convertirán en sus sirvientes, para que vean cuán diferente es mi yugo del yugo de los reinos de otras naciones.

But yet they shall serve him, that they may know the difference between my service, and the service of a kingdom of the earth.

9 Entonces Sisac, rey de Egipto, se enfrentó a Jerusalén y se llevó todas las riquezas almacenadas de la casa del Señor y de la casa del rey. Él se llevó todo, hasta los escudos de oro que Salomón había hecho.

So Sesac king of Egypt departed from Jerusalem, taking away the treasures of the house of the Lord, and of the king’s house, and he took all with him, and the golden shields that Solomon had made,

10 Y en su lugar, el rey Roboam tenía escudos hechos de bronce y las puso a cargo de los capitanes de los hombres armados que estaban apostados en la puerta de la casa del rey.

Instead of which the king made brazen ones, and delivered them to the captains of the shieldbearers, who guarded the entrance of the palace.

11 Y cada vez que el rey entraba en la casa del Señor, los hombres armados iban con él tomando los escudos del cuerpo, y luego los llevaban al cuarto de guardia.

And when the king entered into the house of the Lord, the shieldbearers came and took them, and brought them back again to their armoury.

12 Y cuando se calmó, la ira del Señor se apartó de él, y la destrucción completa no llegó a él, porque todavía había algo bueno en Judá.

But yet because they were humbled, the wrath of the Lord turned away from them, and they were not utterly destroyed: for even in Juda there were found good works.

13 Entonces el rey Roboam se hizo fuerte en Jerusalén y estaba gobernando allí. Roboam tenía cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó a reinar, y estuvo gobernando durante diecisiete años en Jerusalén, la ciudad que el Señor había hecho de todas las tribus de Israel, para poner su nombre allí; y el nombre de su madre era Naama, una mujer amonita.

King Roboam therefore was strengthened in Jerusalem, and reigned: he was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the Lord chose out of all the tribes of Israel, to establish his name there: and the name of his mother was Naama an Ammonitess.

14 E hizo lo malo porque su corazón no era fiel al Señor.

But he did evil, and did not prepare his heart to seek the Lord.

15 Ahora, los hechos de Roboam, desde él principio a fin, no están registrados en las palabras de Semaías el profeta y el vidente Iddo en el registro familiar. Y hubo guerras entre Roboam y Jeroboam continuamente.

Now the acts of Roboam first and last are written in the books of Semeias the prophet, and of Addo the seer, and diligently recorded: and there was war between Roboam and Jeroboam all their days.

16 Y cuando murió Roboam, fue enterrado en la tierra en el pueblo de David; y su hijo Abías se hizo rey en su lugar.

And Roboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David. And Abia his son reigned in his stead.
