1 Timoteo 4
1 Pero el Espíritu dice claramente que en los últimos tiempos algunos se apartaran de la fe, siguiendo a espíritus engañadores y las enseñanzas de los espíritus malignos,
But the Spirit expressly says, that in future times some will apostatize from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits, and to doctrines concerning demons;
2 A través de los caminos falsos de los hombres cuyas palabras no son ciertas, cuya conciencia está marcada con el hierro de sus malas acciones;
through the hypocrisy of liars, who are seared in their own conscience;
3 Que impiden que los hombres se casen y que tomen alimento que Dios hizo para ser tomado con alabanza por aquellos que tienen fe y verdadero conocimiento.
who forbid to marry, and command to abstain from meats, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by the faithful, who thoroughly know the truth; --
4 Porque todo lo que Dios hizo es bueno, y nada es malo, si se recibe con agradecimiento:
that every creature of God is good, being received with thanksgiving, and nothing is to be rejected;
5 Porque se santifica por la palabra de Dios y por la oración.
for it is sanctified, by the word of God, and by prayer.
6 Si guardas estas cosas en la mente de los hermanos, serás un buen siervo de Cristo Jesús, instruido en las palabras de la fe y de la enseñanza correcta que ha sido tu guía.
Laying these things before the brethren, you will be a good servant of Jesus Christ, nourished by the words of the faith, and of good doctrine, to the knowledge of which you have attained.
7 Pero no tengas nada que ver con lo inmundo e historias tontas. Entrénate a ti mismo para la piedad:
But reject profane and old wives' fables, and exercise yourself to godliness:
8 Porque el entrenamiento del cuerpo es de beneficio por un poco, pero la devoción a Dios es provechosa en todos los sentidos, dando esperanza para la vida que es ahora, y para lo que está por venir.
ford bodily exercise is profitable for little; but godliness is profitable for all things, having the promise of the present life, and of that to come.
9 Este es un verdadero dicho, en el que todos pueden poner su fe.
This saying is true, and worthy of all reception.
10 Y este es el propósito de todo nuestro trabajo y nuestra lucha, porque nuestra esperanza está en el Dios vivo, que es el Salvador de todos los hombres, y especialmente de aquellos que tienen fe.
Besides, for this we both labor, and suffer reproach, -- because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, especially of believers.
11 Deja que estas sean tus órdenes y tus enseñanzas.
Those things give in charge, and teach.
12 No dejes que nadie te menosprecie porque eres joven, sino sé un ejemplo para la iglesia en palabra, en conducta, en amor, en fe, en vida santa.
Let no one despise your youth; but be a pattern to the believers in speech, in behavior, in love, in faith, in chastity.
13 Hasta que yo venga, presten atención a la lectura de las Sagradas Escrituras, a consolar a los santos y a enseñar.
Till I come, apply yourself to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.
14 Haz uso de los dones que hay en ti, que te fue dado por la palabra de los profetas, cuando los gobernantes de la iglesia te impusieron las manos.
Neglect not the spiritual gift which is in you, which was given you through prophecy, with the imposition of the hands of the eldership.
15 Ten cuidado de estas cosas; entrégate a ellos con todo tu corazón, para que todos puedan ver cómo avanzas.
Make these things your care. Be wholly employed in them, that your proficiency might be evident to all.
16 Presta atención a ti mismo y a tu enseñanza. Continúa en estas cosas; porque al hacerlo obtendrás la salvación para ti y para aquellos que te escuchan.
Take heed to yourself, and to your doctrine; continue in them; for in doing this, you will both save yourself, and them who hear you.
