1 Samuel 15
1 Entonces Samuel dijo a Saúl: El Señor me envió para que te ungiera con aceite santo sobre ti y te hiciera rey sobre su pueblo, sobre Israel; escucha ahora las palabras del Señor.
And Samuel said unto Saul, It was, me, Yahweh sent to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel, —now, therefore, hearken thou to the voice of Yahweh’s words.
2 El Señor de los ejércitos dice: Daré castigo a Amalec por lo que hizo a Israel, luchando contra él en el camino cuando Israel salió de Egipto.
Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, I have well considered what Amalek did unto Israel—how he lay in wait for him in the way, when he came up out of Egypt.
3 Ve ahora y ataca a Amalec a la espada, poniendo a la destrucción todo lo que tienen, sin piedad. Da muerte a cada hombre y mujer, a cada niño y bebé al pecho, a cada buey y oveja, a camello y asno.
Now, go and smite Amalek, and devote ye to destruction all that he hath, and spare him not, —but thou shalt slay both man and woman, both child and suckling, both ox and sheep, both camel and ass.
4 Entonces Saúl mandó llamar al pueblo y los hizo contar en Telaim, doscientos mil hombres de infantería y diez mil hombres de Judá.
So then Saul called together the people, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, —and ten thousand men of Judah.
5 Entonces Saúl llegó a la ciudad de Amalec y tomó su posición en el valle en secreto.
And Saul came as far as the city of Amalek, —and stirred up strife in the ravine.
6 Entonces Saúl dijo a los ceneos: Salgan, salgan de entre los amalecitas, o la destrucción los alcanzará con ellos, porque ustedes fueron amables con los hijos de Israel cuando salieron de Egipto. Entonces los quenitas se apartaron de entre los amalecitas.
Then said Saul unto the Kenites—Go, depart, get you down out of the midst of the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them, yet, ye, dealt in lovingkindness, with all the sons of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed out of the midst of the Amalekites.
7 Y Saúl atacó a los amalecitas desde Havila en el camino a Shur, que está al este de Egipto.
And Saul smote Amalek, —from Havilah, till thou enterest Shur, which is over against Egypt.
8 Tomó a Agag, rey de los amalecitas, prisionero, y puso a toda la gente a filo de espada sin piedad.
And he took Agag, king of Amalek, alive, —but, all the people, devoted he to destruction at the edge of the sword.
9 Pero Saúl y el pueblo no mataron a Agag, y se quedaron con lo mejor de las ovejas y los bueyes y las bestias gordas y los corderos, y todo lo que era bueno, no queriendo maldecirlos. Pero todo lo que era malo y de ninguna utilidad lo destruyeron.
But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep and the oxen and the lambs, also the fatlings, and all that was good, and would not devote them to destruction, —but, all the cattle that was contemptible and diseased, that, devoted they to destruction.
10 Entonces el SEÑOR dijo a Samuel:
Then came the word of Yahweh unto Samuel, saying—
11 Me pesa haber hecho rey a Saúl; porque él se ha apartado de ir por mis caminos, y no ha hecho mis órdenes. Y Samuel se airó, clamó al Señor en oración toda la noche.
I am grieved that I made Saul to be king, for he hath turned back from following me, and, my words, hath he not established. And it was vexing to Samuel, so that he made outcry unto Yahweh, all the night.
12 Temprano por la mañana se levantó y fue a Saúl; y la palabra fue dada a Samuel que Saúl había venido al Carmelo y había levantado una columna, y había ido desde allí hasta Gilgal.
And Samuel rose early to meet Saul, in the morning, and it was told Samuel, saying—Saul having come to Carmel, and lo! having set him up a sign, hath gone round, and passed over, and descended to Gilgal.
13 Y Samuel vino a Saúl; Y Saúl le dijo: Que la bendición del Señor esté contigo. He hecho lo que el Señor me ordenó.
And Samuel came unto Saul, —and Saul said unto him—Blessed, be thou by Yahweh: I have established the word of Yahweh.
14 Y Samuel dijo: ¿Qué es este sonido del llanto de las ovejas y el ruido de los bueyes que llega a mis oídos?
And Samuel said, What then is this bleating of sheep, in mine ears, —and the lowing of oxen, which I can hear?
15 Y Saúl dijo: Los han tomado de los amalecitas; porque el pueblo ha guardado lo mejor de las ovejas y de los bueyes como ofrenda al Señor tu Dios; Todo lo demás lo hemos entregado a la destrucción.
Then said Saul—From the Amalekites, have they brought them in; in that the people spared the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto Yahweh thy God, —but, the rest, have we devoted to destruction.
16 Entonces Samuel dijo a Saúl: ¡No digas más! Déjame decirte lo que el Señor me ha dicho esta noche. Y él le dijo: Habla.
Then said Samuel unto Saul, Stay, and let me tell thee, that which Yahweh hath spoken unto me, this night. And he said to him—Speak.
17 Y Samuel dijo: Aunque parezcas poco para ti mismo, ¿no eres el jefe de las tribus de Israel? porque él Señor con aceite santo te hizo rey sobre Israel.
And Samuel said, Was it not, when, little, thou wast in thine own eyes, that thou wast made, head of the tribes of Israel, —and that Yahweh anointed thee to be king over Israel?
18 Y el Señor te envió en un viaje y dijo: ve y destruye a esos pecadores, los amalecitas, y luchen contra ellos hasta que todos estén muertos.
So then Yahweh sent thee on a journey, —and said—Go, and devastate to destruction, the sinners—the Amalekites, and make war against them, until they have consumed them.
19 ¿Por qué entonces no hiciste las órdenes del Señor, sino que al tomar violentamente sus bienes, actuando mal a los ojos del Señor?
Wherefore, then, didst thou not hearken unto the voice of Yahweh, —but didst rush upon the spoil, and do that which was wrong in the sight of Yahweh?
20 Y Saúl dijo: En verdad, he cumplido las órdenes del Señor y he seguido el camino que el Señor me envió; Tomé a Agag, el rey de Amalec, y entregué a los amalecitas a la destrucción.
And Saul said unto Samuel—As indeed I have hearkened unto the voice of Yahweh, and have been on the journey on which Yahweh sent me, —and have brought in Agag, king of Amalek, and, the Amalekites, have I devoted to destruction.
21 Pero el pueblo tomó algunos de sus bienes, ovejas y bueyes, el jefe de las cosas que fueron puestas en práctica para hacer una ofrenda de ellas al Señor tu Dios en Gilgal.
And the people took, of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things so devoted, —to sacrifice unto Yahweh thy God, in Gilgal.
22 Y Samuel dijo: ¿Se deleita el Señor en las ofrendas y sacrificios quemados como en el cumplimiento de sus órdenes? En verdad, obedecer es mejor que hacer ofrendas y que la grasa de las ovejas.
Then said Samuel—Doth that which is pleasing unto Yahweh consist in ascending-offerings and sacrifices, So much as in hearkening unto the voice of Yahweh? Lo! to hearken, is, better, than, sacrifice. And, to give heed, than, the fat of rams;
23 Porque ir en contra de sus órdenes es como el pecado de aquellos que hacen uso de la adivinación, y el orgullo es como adorar a las imágenes. Debido a que has rechazado sus mandatos del Señor, él te ha rechazado como rey.
For, as the sin of divination, is, rebelliousness, —and, as transgression with household gods, is, stubbornness, —Because thou hast rejected the word of Yahweh, therefore hath he rejected thee from being king.
24 Entonces Saúl dijo a Samuel: Grande es mi pecado; porque he ido en contra de las órdenes del Señor y en contra de tus palabras: porque, temiendo a la gente, hice lo que dijeron.
Then said Saul unto Samuel—I have sinned; for I have transgressed the bidding of Yahweh, and thy words, —for I feared the people, and hearkened unto their voice.
25 Ahora, deja que mi pecado tenga perdón, y vuelve conmigo para adorar al Señor.
Now, therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, —and turn again with me, that I may bow down unto Yahweh.
26 Entonces Samuel dijo a Saúl: No volveré contigo; porque has rechazado el mandato del Señor, y el Señor te ha rechazado como rey sobre Israel.
And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not turn again with thee, —Because thou hast rejected the word of Yahweh, therefore hath Yahweh rejected thee from being king over Israel.
27 Y cuando Samuel se daba la vuelta para irse, Saúl tomó la falda de su túnica en su mano, y se la desgarró.
And, when Samuel turned about to go away, then laid he hold of the skirt of his robe, and it was rent.
28 Entonces Samuel le dijo: El Señor te ha quitado el reino de Israel hoy por la fuerza, y se lo ha dado a un vecino tuyo que es mejor que tú.
And Samuel said unto him, Yahweh hath rent the kingdom of Israel from off thee, to-day, —and will give it unto a neighbour of thine, who is better than thou.
29 Y además, Dios que es la Gloria de Israel no dirá lo que es falso, y su propósito no puede ser cambiado, porque él no es un hombre, cuyo propósito puede ser cambiado.
Moreover also, the Eminence of Israel, will not lie, neither will he repent, —For no, iron of earth, is, he, to repent!
30 Entonces dijo: Grande es mi pecado; pero aun así, honrame ahora ante los jefes de mi pueblo y ante Israel, y vuelve conmigo para que yo pueda adorar al Señor tu Dios.
Then he said: I have sinned, Now, honour me, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, —and turn again with me, then will I bow down unto Yahweh thy God.
31 Entonces Samuel regresó después de Saúl, y Saúl adoró al Señor.
So then Samuel turned again, after Saul—and Saul bowed down unto Yahweh.
32 Entonces Samuel dijo: Haz que Agag, el rey de los amalecitas, venga aquí a mí. Y Agag se acercó temblando de miedo. Y Agag dijo: En verdad, el dolor de la muerte ha pasado.
Then said Samuel—Bring ye near unto me—Agag, king of Amalek, And Agag came unto him, in fetters. Then said Agag, Surely, terrible, is the bitterness of death!
33 Y Samuel dijo: Como tu espada ha hecho a las mujeres sin hijos, así ahora tu madre estará sin hijos entre las mujeres. Y Agag fue cortado por Samuel, hueso por hueso, delante del Señor en Gilgal.
And Samuel said, As women have been made childless by thy sword, So, childless among women, shall be, thine own mother. And Samuel cut Agag asunder before Yahweh, in Gilgal.
34 Entonces Samuel fue a Ramá; y Saúl subió a su casa en Guibea, en la tierra de Saúl.
Then Samuel departed unto Ramah, —but, Saul, went up unto his own house, at Gibeah of Saul.
35 Y Samuel nunca volvió a ver a Saúl hasta el día de su muerte; pero Samuel estaba sufriendo por Saúl: y ya no era un placer del Señor que Saúl fuera rey de Israel.
And Samuel did no more see Saul, until the day of his death, for Samuel pined for Saul, —but, Yahweh, was grieved that he had made Saul king over Israel.
