1 Samuel 10

1 Entonces Samuel tomó el cuerno de aceite, le puso aceite en la cabeza, le dio un beso y le dijo: ¿No te ha ungido él Señor como gobernante sobre Israel, su pueblo? y tendrás autoridad sobre la gente del Señor, y los protegerás de las manos de sus atacantes a su alrededor, y esta será la señal para ti:

And Samuel took a flask of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Behold, it is because the Lord hath anointed thee over his inheritance as chief.

2 Cuando te hayas alejado de mí hoy, encontrarás a dos hombres cerca de la tumba de Raquel, en la tierra de Benjamín, en Selsa; y ellos te dirán: Los asnos por los que saliste en busca han regresado, y ahora tu padre, que ya no se preocupa por ellos, está preocupado por ti, diciendo: ¿Qué debo hacer para encontrar a mi hijo?

When thou goest this day away from me, thou wilt find two men who are now by Rachel's sepulchre, on the boundary of Benjamin at Zelzach; and they will say unto thee, The asses which thou wentest to seek are found: and, lo, thy father hath given up the matter of the asses, and is anxious for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?

3 Luego debes continuar desde allí, y cuando llegues al roble del Tabor, verás a tres hombres que van a adorar a Dios a Betel, uno de ellos con tres cabritos y otro tres panes y otro una bolsa de cuero llena de vino.

Then shalt thou go on forward from there, and thou shalt come as far as the grove of Tabor, and there shall meet thee three men going up to God to Beth-el, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:

4 Ellos dirán: La paz sea contigo, y te ofrecerán dos panes, que debes aceptar.

And they will ask thee after thy welfare, and give thee two loaves of bread, which thou must take from their hand.

5 Después de eso, llegarás a Guibeá, la colina de Dios, donde está estacionada una fuerza armada de los filisteos, y cuando llegues a la ciudad, verás una banda de profetas que descienden del lugar alto con instrumentos de cuerda, panderos, arpa y flautas ante ellos irá gente; y profetizarán:

After that shalt thou come to the hill of God, where the outposts of the Philistines are; and it shall come to pass, when thou art come thither to the city, that thou wilt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high-place, having before them a psaltery, and a tambourine, and a pipe, and a harp; and they will be prophesying;

6 Y el espíritu del Señor vendrá sobre ti con poder, y estarás actuando como un profeta con ellos, y serás convertido en otro hombre.

And the Spirit of the Lord will suddenly come over thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and thou shalt be changed into another man.

7 Y cuando te sucedan estas señales a ti, has lo que sea necesario; porque Dios está contigo.

And it shall be, that, when these signs are come unto thee, then do thou what thy hand may be able to effect; for God is with thee.

8 Luego debes adelantarte y baja. Yo me reuniré contigo en Gilgal, donde iré a ti, para ofrecer las ofrendas quemadas y las ofrendas de paz. Sigue esperando allí durante siete días hasta que venga a ti y te diga lo que tienes que hacer.

And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto thee, to offer burnt-offerings, [and] to sacrifice sacrifices of peace-offerings: seven days shalt thou tarry, till I come to thee, and then will I tell thee what thou shalt do.

9 Y sucedió que cuando se fue de Samuel, Dios le dio un nuevo corazón, y todas esas señales tuvieron lugar ese día.

And it happened, that, as he turned his back to go away from Samuel, God changed his heart into another; and all these signs came to pass on that same day.

10 Y cuando llegaron a Guibea, una banda de profetas se encontró cara a cara con él; y el espíritu de Dios vino sobre él con poder y él tomó su lugar entre ellos como un profeta.

And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came suddenly over him, and he prophesied in the midst of them.

11 Cuando los viejos amigos de Saúl lo vieron entre la banda de profetas, el pueblo se dijo unos a otros: ¿Qué le ha pasado a Saúl, el hijo de Cis? ¿Está incluso Saúl entre los profetas?

And it came to pass, when all that knew him before saw, that, behold, he prophesied with the prophets, then said the people one to another, What is this that hath happened to the son of Kish? is Saul also among the prophets?

12 Y una de las personas de aquel lugar dijo en respuesta: ¿Y quién es su padre? Entonces se convirtió en un dicho común: ¿Está incluso Saúl entre los profetas?

And one of that place answered and said, And who is their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?

13 Y saliendo del trance profético, vino a la casa.

And when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high-place.

14 Y el hermano del padre de Saúl le dijo a él y a su criado: ¿Dónde has estado? Y él dijo: Buscando los asnos: y cuando no vimos ninguna señal de ellos, vinimos a Samuel.

And Saul's uncle said unto him and to his servant, Whither were ye gone? And he said, To seek the asses; and when we saw that they were nowhere, we went to Samuel.

15 Entonces él dijo: ¿Y qué te dijo Samuel?

And Saul's uncle said, Do tell me, I pray thee, what did Samuel say unto you.

16 Entonces respondiendo Saúl, dijo: Nos dijo que habían regresado los asnos. Pero no le dijo nada de las palabras de Samuel sobre el reino.

And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses had been found. But of the matter of the kingdom, whereof Samuel had spoken, he told him not.

17 Entonces Samuel envió a la gente a reunirse delante del Señor en Mizpa;

And Samuel called the people together unto the Lord to Mizpah;

18 Y dijo a los hijos de Israel: El Señor, Dios de Israel, ha dicho: Saqué a Israel de Egipto y los liberé de las manos de los egipcios y de todos los reinos que los oprimían.

And he said unto the children of Israel, Thus hath said the Lord the God of Israel, I brought up Israel from Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all the kingdoms that oppressed you;

19 Pero hoy se apartaron de su Dios, que él mismo ha sido su salvador de todos sus problemas y tristezas; y pidieron: Pon un rey sobre nosotros. Así que ahora, tomen sus lugares ante el Señor por sus tribus y por sus clanes.

And ye for your part have this day rejected your God, he who hath saved you out of all your misfortunes and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him, Nevertheless, thou must set a king over us: and now present yourselves before the Lord according to your tribes, and according to your thousands.

20 Entonces Samuel hizo que todas las tribus de Israel se acercaran, y la tribu de Benjamín fue escogida.

And Samuel caused all the tribes of Israel to come near; and the tribe of Benjamin was seized.

21 Entonces hizo que la tribu de Benjamín se acercara a las familias, y tomaron a la familia de los Matri; y de ellos, Saúl, el hijo de Cis, fue escogido; pero cuando fueron a buscarlo, no lo pudieron encontrar.

And he caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near according to its families, and the family of Matri was seized, and then was seized Saul the son of Kish: and they sought him, but he could not be found.

22 Entonces hicieron otra pregunta al Señor: ¿Está el hombre aquí presente? Y la respuesta del Señor fue: Él se está ocultando entre las provisiones.

And they inquired again of the Lord, Is the man yet come hither? And the Lord said, Behold, he hath hidden himself among the vessels.

23 Y fueron rápidamente y lo hicieron salir; y cuando tomó su lugar entre la gente, era más alto que resto de los israelitas.

And they ran and fetched him thence, and he placed himself erect in the midst of the people, and he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.

24 Y Samuel dijo a todo el pueblo: ¿Ves al hombre de la selección del Señor, cómo no hay otro como él entre todo el pueblo? Y todas las personas con fuertes gritos dijeron: ¡Larga vida al rey!

And Samuel said to all the people, Have ye seen him whom the Lord hath made choice of, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, Long live the king.

25 Entonces Samuel dio a la gente las leyes del reino, escribiéndolas en un libro que puso en un lugar seguro delante del Señor. Y despidió Samuel a todo el pueblo, cada uno a su casa.

Then did Samuel speak to the people the rights of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it down before the Lord. And Samuel sent away all the people, every man to his house.

26 Y Saúl fue a Guibea, a su casa; y con él iban los hombres de guerra cuyos corazones habían sido tocados por Dios.

And Saul also went to his home to Gib'ah; and there went with him a large crowd, whose heart God had touched.

27 Pero ciertas personas perversas dijeron: ¿Cómo puede ser este hombre nuestro salvador? Y no teniendo respeto por él, no le dieron ninguna ofrenda.

But the worthless men said, In what can this help us? And they despised him, and brought him no present. But he acted as though he were deaf.
