1 Pedro 3

1 Esposas, sean sujetas a sus maridos; de modo que incluso si algunos de ellos no creen en la palabra, sus corazones pueden cambiar por el comportamiento de sus esposas,

Similarly, wives, be submissive to your own husbands, so that even if some are disobedient to the Word, they may be won over, without a word, by the conduct of their wives

2 Cuando ven su comportamiento santo en el temor de Dios.

(having watched your pure behavior accompanied by respect),

3 No permitas que tus adornos sean externos, con accesorios en cabello, o ponerse joyas de oro o ropa lujosa;

whose adorning should not be the outward one of braiding hair and wearing gold, or putting on fine clothing,

4 Pero sean ellos los del hombre invisible del corazón, el ornamento siempre brillante de un espíritu apacible y callado, que es de gran precio a los ojos de Dios.

but rather the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible adorning of the gentle and quiet spirit that is of great value before God.

5 Y estos fueron los ornamentos de las mujeres santas del pasado, cuya esperanza estaba en Dios, estando sujetas a sus maridos;

For this is how the holy women who hoped in God in former times also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands,

6 Como Sara obedecía a Abraham, llamándole “mi señor”; de quién ustedes son hijas si hacen el bien, y no temen ninguna amenaza.

as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him ‘lord’, whose (f) daughters you became by doing good and not being afraid of any intimidation.

7 Y maridos, sean comprensivos con sus esposas, dando honor a la mujer que es más débil y delicada, pero que tiene una parte igual en la herencia de la gracia de la vida; para que nada estorbe sus oraciones.

Similarly, husbands, live together knowledgeably as with a weaker vessel, according honor to the wife especially as being a joint heir of the grace of life, for your prayers not to be hindered.

8 Por último, ver que todos están de acuerdo; en un mismo sentir, compasivos, amándose unos a otros como hermanos, llenos de piedad, y humildes,

Finally, all of you be like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, courteous,

9 No devolviendo mal por mal, ni maldición por maldición, sino en lugar de maldición, bendición; porque este es el propósito de Dios para ustedes, que puedan tener una herencia de bendición.

not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but instead blessing, knowing that you were called to this so that you may inherit a blessing.

10 Porque se dice: El hombre que quiere amar la vida, que desea ver días buenos, guarde su lengua del mal y sus labios de las palabras engañosas.

For: “The one who wants to love life and to see good days must refrain his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit;

11 Y se aparte del mal y haga el bien; buscando la paz y yendo tras ella con todo su corazón.

he must turn away from evil and do good; he must seek peace, even pursue it.

12 Porque los ojos del Señor están sobre los rectos, y sus oídos abiertos a sus oraciones; pero él rostro del Señor está contra los que hacen el mal.

Because the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those doing evil.”

13 ¿Quién les hará daño si mantienes su mente fija en seguir el bien?

Now who is he who will harm you if you become imitators of the good?

14 Pero eres feliz si sufres dolor a causa de la justicia; no tengan miedo a nadie y no se turben;

But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. “Do not fear what they fear, neither be troubled.”

15 Pero da honor a Cristo en sus corazones como Señor; y estén listos en cualquier momento cuando se le pregunte acerca de la esperanza que hay en ustedes, para dar una respuesta con mansedumbre y reverencia en el Señor;

Rather, sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready with an answer for everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with meekness and respect;

16 Pero háganlo con humildad y respeto, siendo consciente de que no han hecho nada malo; para que aquellos que dicen cosas malvadas acerca de ustedes, de su vida como cristianos puedan ser avergonzados.

keeping a good conscience, so that wherein they speak against you as evildoers, those who revile your good way of life in Christ may be put to shame.

17 Porque si el propósito de Dios es que sufras dolor, es mejor hacerlo para hacer el bien que para hacer el mal.

For it is better to suffer for doing good, should the will of God so determine, than for doing evil.

18 Porque Cristo una vez pasó por el dolor por los pecados, el justo tomando el lugar de los pecadores, para que por medio de él volvamos a Dios; siendo ejecutado en la carne, pero dado vida en el Espíritu;

Because Christ also suffered on account of sins, once for all, the righteous on behalf of the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God; having been put to death, to be sure, in flesh, but having been made alive in spirit;

19 Y como ser espiritual, fue y predicó a los espíritus encarcelados.

in which He also went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison

20 Que, en los días de Noé, iban en contra de las órdenes de Dios; pero Dios en su misericordia retuvo el castigo, mientras Noé preparaba el arca, en la que un pequeño número, es decir ocho personas, obtenía la salvación a través del agua:

who formerly were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, while the Ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is eight, souls were brought safely through water.

21 Y aquella agua, del cual esta es una imagen, del bautismo, por medio del cual ahora somos salvados. no limpiando la carne, sino liberándonos del sentido del pecado delante de Dios, a través de la resurrección de Jesucristo;

This is an antitype of baptism, that now saves us also (not the removal of physical filth, but the appeal into God from a good conscience) through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

22 Quien habiendo subido al cielo, está a la diestra de Dios, habiendo sido puestos bajo su dominio ángeles y autoridades y potestades.

who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.
