1 Reyes 8

1 Entonces Salomón envió a todos los hombres responsables de Israel, a todos los jefes de las tribus y a los jefes de familia de los hijos de Israel, para que vinieran a él a Jerusalén para trasladar el cofre del pacto del Señor fuera de la ciudad de David, que es Sión.

Then all those greater by birth of Israel, with the leaders of the tribes and the rulers of the families of the sons of Israel, gathered together before king Solomon at Jerusalem, so that they might carry the ark of the covenant of the Lord, from the city of David, that is, from Zion.

2 Y todos los hombres de Israel se reunieron con el rey Salomón en la fiesta, en el mes de Etanim, el séptimo mes.

And all of Israel assembled before king Solomon, on the solemn day in the month of Ethanim, which is the seventh month.

3 Y vinieron todos los hombres responsables de Israel, y los sacerdotes tomaron el cofre del pacto del Señor.

And all the elders of Israel arrived, and the priests took up the ark.

4 Tomaron el cofre del pacto del Señor a la Tienda de reunión, y todos los vasos sagrados que estaban en la Tienda; todos estos los llevaban los sacerdotes y los levitas.

And they carried the ark of the Lord, and the tabernacle of the covenant, and all the vessels of the Sanctuary, which were in the tabernacle; and the priests and the Levites carried these.

5 Y el rey Salomón y todos los hombres de Israel que se habían reunido allí, estaban con él ante él cofre del pacto, haciendo ofrendas de ovejas y bueyes más de lo que podrían ser contados.

Then king Solomon, and the entire multitude of Israel, who had assembled before him, advanced with him before the ark. And they immolated sheep and oxen, which could not be numbered or estimated.

6 Los sacerdotes tomaron el cofre del pacto del Señor y la pusieron en su lugar en la habitación interior del templo, en el Lugar Santísimo, bajo las alas de los querubines.

And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place, into the oracle of the temple, in the Holy of Holies, under the wings of the cherubim.

7 Porque sus alas estaban extendidas sobre el lugar donde estaba el arca, cubriendo el cofre del pacto y sus varas.

For indeed, the cherubim extended their wings over the place of the ark, and they protected the ark and its bars from above.

8 Las varillas eran tan largas que sus extremos se veían desde el lugar santo, frente al Lugar Santísimo; , pero no fueron vistos desde afuera; y allí están hasta hoy.

And since the bars projected outward, their ends were visible from without, in the Sanctuary before the oracle; but they were not visible farther outward. And they have been in that place even to the present day.

9 No había nada en el cofre del pacto, excepto las dos piedras planas que Moisés puso allí en Horeb, donde el Señor hizo un acuerdo con los hijos de Israel cuando salieron de la tierra de Egipto.

Now inside the ark, there was nothing other than the two tablets of stone, which Moses had placed in it at Horeb, when the Lord formed a covenant with the sons of Israel, when they departed from the land of Egypt.

10 Cuando los sacerdotes salieron del lugar santo, la casa del Señor se llenó de la nube.

Then it happened that, when the priests had exited from the Sanctuary, a cloud filled the house of the Lord.

11 Pero los sacerdotes no pudieran guardar sus lugares para hacer su trabajo a causa de la nube, porque la casa del Señor estaba llena de la gloria del Señor.

And the priests were unable to stand and minister, because of the cloud. For the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.

12 Entonces Salomón dijo: Tú Señor, dices que vives en la nube espesa;

Then Solomon said: “The Lord has said that he would dwell in a cloud.

13 Así que he hecho a ti un lugar para vivir, una casa en la que puedes estar siempre presente.

Building, I have built a house as your dwelling place, your most firm throne forever.”

14 Luego, volviendo la cara, el rey dio una bendición a todos los hombres de Israel; y todos estaban de pie juntos.

And the king turned his face, and he blessed the entire assembly of Israel. For the entire assembly of Israel was standing.

15 Y dijo: Alabado sea el Señor, el Dios de Israel, quien dio su palabra a David mi padre, y con su mano fuerte ha hecho realidad su palabra, diciendo:

And Solomon said: “Blessed is the Lord, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to my father David, and who, with his own hands, has perfected it, saying:

16 Desde el día en que saqué a mi pueblo Israel de Egipto, ningún pueblo en todas las tribus de Israel ha sido marcado por mí para la construcción de una casa para el lugar de descanso de mi nombre; pero hice la selección de David para ser rey sobre mi pueblo Israel.

‘From the day when I led my people Israel away from Egypt, I did not choose any city out of all the tribes of Israel, so that a house would be built, and so that my name might be there. Instead, I chose David to be over my people Israel.’

17 Ahora estaba en el corazón de David mi padre el poner una templo para el nombre del Señor, el Dios de Israel.

And my father David wanted to build a house to the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

18 Pero el Señor le dijo a David mi padre: Hiciste bien en tener en tu corazón el deseo de hacer un templo para mi nombre;

But the Lord said to my father David: ‘Since you have planned in your heart to build a house to my name, you have done well by considering this plan in your mind.

19 Pero tú mismo no serás el constructor de mi templo; Pero tu hijo, la descendencia de tu cuerpo, él es quien levantará un templo a mi nombre.

Yet truly, you shall not build a house for me. Instead, your son, who shall go forth from your loins, he himself shall build a house to my name.’

The Lord has confirmed his word which he spoke. And so I stand in place of my father David, and I sit upon the throne of Israel, just as the Lord said. And I have built a house to the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

21 En él he hecho un lugar para él cofre del pacto, en el cual está el acuerdo que el Señor hizo con nuestros padres, cuando los sacó de la tierra de Egipto.

And there I have appointed a place for the ark, in which is the covenant of the Lord that he struck with our fathers, when they went forth from the land of Egypt.”

22 Entonces Salomón tomó su lugar ante el altar del Señor, estando todos los hombres de Israel presentes y extendiendo sus manos hacia el cielo,

Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord, in the sight of the assembly of Israel, and he extended his hands toward heaven.

23 Dijo: Señor, Dios de Israel, no hay Dios como tú en el cielo ni en la tierra; manteniendo la fe y la misericordia inmutables para sus siervos, que te sirven con todo su corazón.

And he said: “Lord God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above, nor on the earth below. You preserve covenant and mercy with your servants, who walk before you with all their heart.

24 Y has guardado la palabra que diste a tu siervo David, mi padre; con tu boca lo dijiste y con tu mano lo has hecho realidad este día.

You have fulfilled, for your servant David, my father, that which you said to him. With your mouth, you spoke; and with your hands, you completed; just as this day proves.

25 Ahora, Señor, Dios de Israel, deja que tu palabra a tu siervo David, mi padre, se haga realidad cuando dijiste: “Nunca estarás sin un hombre que ocupe su lugar en el trono del Reino de Israel, si solo tus hijos presten atención a sus caminos, caminando delante de mí como tú lo has hecho.

Now therefore, O Lord God of Israel, fulfill, for your servant David, my father, that which you spoke to him, saying, ‘There shall not be taken away from you a man before me, who may sit upon the throne of Israel, if only your sons will guard their way, so that they walk before me, just as you have walked in my sight.’

26 Ahora, oh Dios de Israel, es mi oración que hagas realidad tu palabra que dijiste a tu siervo David, mi padre.

And now, O Lord God of Israel, establish your words, which you spoke to your servant David, my father.

27 ¿Pero es realmente posible que Dios pueda ser alojado en la tierra? mira, el cielo y el cielo de los cielos no son lo suficientemente anchos para ser tu lugar de descanso; ¡Cuánto menos este templo que he hecho!

Is it, then, to be understood that truly God would dwell upon the earth? For if heaven, and the heavens of heavens, are not able to contain you, how much less this house, which I have built?

28 Aun así, atiende a la oración de tu siervo, Señor Dios, a su oración y súplica; Escucha el clamor y la oración que tu siervo te envía hoy.

Yet look with favor upon the prayer of your servant and upon his petitions, O Lord, my God. Listen to the hymn and the prayer, which your servant prays before you this day,

29 Para que tus ojos estén abiertos a esta casa noche y día, a este lugar del cual has dicho: Mi nombre estará allí; Escuchando la oración que tu siervo haga hacia este lugar.

so that your eyes may be open over this house, night and day, over the house about which you said, ‘My name shall be there,’ so that you may heed the prayer that your servant is praying in this place to you.

30 Escucha las oraciones de tu siervo y las oraciones de tu pueblo Israel, cuando hacen sus oraciones, dirigiéndose a este lugar; escucha en el cielo tu lugar de residencia, y perdona.

So may you heed the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel, whatever they will pray for in this place, and so may you heed them in your dwelling place in heaven. And when you heed, you will be gracious.

31 Si un hombre hace mal a su prójimo, y tiene que prestar juramento, y se presenta ante su altar para prestar juramento en esta casa:

But if any man sins against his neighbor, and he has any kind of an oath by which he is bound, and he arrives because of the oath, before your altar in your house,

32 Deja que tu oído esté abierto en el cielo, y sé el juez de tus siervos, dando tu decisión contra el malhechor, para que el castigo por sus pecados caiga sobre su cabeza; y por tu decisión, guardando del mal al que no ha hecho nada malo.

you will hear in heaven, and you will act and judge your servants, condemning the impious, and repaying his own way upon his own head, but justifying the just, and rewarding him in accord with his justice.

33 Cuando tu pueblo Israel es vencido en la guerra, por su pecado contra ti; si se vuelven a ti nuevamente, en honor a tu nombre, haciendo oraciones para ti y pidiendo tu gracia en esta casa:

And if your people Israel will have fled from their enemies, because they have sinned against you, and doing penance and confessing to your name, shall arrive and pray and petition you in this house,

34 Escucha en el cielo y que el pecado de su pueblo Israel tenga perdón, y hazlo volver a la tierra que le diste a sus antepasados.

listen in heaven, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and lead them back to the land, which you gave to their fathers.

35 Cuando el cielo está cerrado y no hay lluvia, debido a su pecado contra ti; y oren con la cara girada hacia este lugar, honrando tu nombre y apartándose de su pecado cuando tú los aflijas,

And if the heavens have closed, so that there is no rain, because of their sins, and they, praying in this place, shall do penance to your name, and shall be converted from their sins, by occasion of their afflictions,

36 Escucha en el cielo, para que el pecado de tus siervos y de tu pueblo Israel, tenga perdón, cuando les aclares el buen camino por el cual deben ir; y envía lluvia a tu tierra, la cual has dado a tu pueblo por su herencia.

hear them from heaven, and forgive the sins of your servants and of your people Israel. And reveal to them the good way, along which they should walk, and grant rain upon your land, which you have given to your people as a possession.

37 Si no hay alimento en la tierra, o si hay enfermedad, o si los frutos de la tierra se dañan por el calor o el agua, la langosta o el gusano; si sus ciudades son rodeadas por sus atacantes; Cualquier problema, cualquier enfermedad:

Then, if famine rises over the land, or pestilence, or corrupt air, or blight, or locust, or mildew, or if their enemy afflicts them, besieging the gates, or any harm or infirmity,

38 Cualquiera que sea la oración o la petición de tu gracia, la hace cualquier hombre, o todo tu pueblo Israel, cualquiera que sea su problema, cuyas manos se extienden a esta casa:

or whatever curse or divine intervention may happen to any man among your people Israel, if anyone understands, having been wounded in his heart, and if he will have extended his hands in this house,

39 Oye, en el cielo, tu lugar donde habitas, actuando con misericordia. y dale a cada hombre cuyo corazón secreto está abierto para ti, la recompensa de todos sus caminos; para ti, pues solo tu, tienes conocimiento de los corazones de todos los hijos de los hombres:

you will hear in heaven, in your dwelling place, and you will forgive. And you will act so that you give to each one in accord with his own ways, just as you see in his heart, for you alone know the heart of all the sons of men.

40 Para que puedan adorarte todos los días de su vida en la tierra que diste a nuestros padres.

So may they fear you, all the days that they live upon the face of the land, which you have given to our fathers.

41 Y en cuanto al hombre de una tierra extraña, que no es de tu pueblo Israel; cuando viene de un país lejano por la gloria de tu nombre:

Moreover, the foreigner too, who is not of your people Israel, when he will have arrived from a distant land because of your name, for they shall hear about your great name, and your strong hand,

42 Porque ellos tendrán noticias de tu gran nombre y tu mano fuerte y tu brazo extendido; cuando venga a hacer su oración, dirigiéndose a esta casa:

and your outstretched arm everywhere: so when he arrives and prays in this place,

43 Escucha, en el cielo, tu lugar donde habitas, y dale su deseo, cualquiera que sea; para que todos los pueblos de la tierra tengan conocimiento de tu nombre, adorándote como lo hace tu pueblo Israel, y para que vean que este templo que he levantado se invoca tu nombre.

you will listen in heaven, in the firmament of your dwelling place. And you will do all the things, for which that foreigner will have called upon you. So may all the peoples of the earth learn to fear your name, just as your people Israel do. And so may they show that your name has been invoked over this house, which I have built.

44 Si tu gente sale a la guerra contra sus atacantes, por cualquier razón que los hayas enviado, si hacen su oración al Señor, vuelven sus rostros a esta ciudad tuya y a esta casa que he hecho para Tu nombre;

And if your people have gone out to war against their enemies, along whatever way you will send them, they shall pray to you in the direction of the city, which you have chosen, and toward the house, which I have built to your name.

45 Escucha en el cielo su oración y su clamor de súplica, y defiende su causa.

And you will hear in heaven their prayers and their petitions. And you will accomplish judgment for them.

46 Si hacen algo malo contra ti, porque ningún hombre está sin pecado, y tú te enojas con ellos y los entregas al poder de los que luchan contra ellos, para que se los lleven como prisioneros. a una tierra extraña, lejos o cercas,

But if they sin against you, for there is no man who does not sin, and you, being angry, deliver them to their enemies, and they will have been led away as captives to the land of their enemies, whether far or near,

47 Y si piensan, en la tierra donde están prisioneros, se vuelven hacia ti y te claman en oración en esa tierra, y dicen: Somos pecadores, hemos hecho el mal.

and if they do penance in their heart, in the place of captivity, and having been converted, make supplication to you in their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned; we acted unjustly; we committed impiety,’

48 Y con todo su corazón y su alma se han vuelto ustedes, en la tierra de los que los tomaron prisioneros, y oran, volviendo sus ojos a esta tierra que diste a sus antepasados, y hacia la ciudad que escogiste, y del templo que hice para tu nombre:

and they return to you with all their heart and all their soul, in the land of their enemies, to which they have been led away as captives, and if they pray to you in the direction of their land, which you gave to their fathers, and of the city, which you have chosen, and of the temple, which I have built to your name:

49 Escucha su oración y su clamor en el cielo, lugar donde habitas, y defiende su causa;

you will hear in heaven, in the firmament of your throne, their prayers and their petitions. And you will accomplish their judgment.

50 Respondiendo con perdón a las personas que han hecho algo malo contra ti, y pasando por alto el mal que han hecho contra ti; que aquellos que los hicieron prisioneros sean conmovidos con compasión por ellos, y tengan compasión de ellos;

And you will forgive your people, who have sinned against you, and all their iniquities, by which they have transgressed against you. And you will grant to them mercy in the sight of those who have made them captives, so that they may take pity on them.

51 Porque son tu pueblo y tu heredad, que sacaste de enmedio de Egipto, de la chimenea de fundición;

For they are your people and your inheritance, whom you have led away from the land of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron.

52 Deja que tus ojos estén abiertos a las súplicas de tu siervo y a la súplicas de tu pueblo Israel, escuchándolos cuando su clamor llegue a ti.

So may your eyes be open to the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel. And so may you heed them in all the things about which they will call upon you.

53 Porque los separaste de todos los pueblos de la tierra, para que sean tu herencia, como dijiste por tu siervo Moisés, cuando sacaste a nuestros antepasados de Egipto, oh Señor Dios.

For you have separated them to yourself as an inheritance, from among all the peoples of the earth, just as you spoke by Moses, your servant, when you led our fathers away from Egypt, O Lord God.”

54 Luego, después de hacer todas estas oraciones y súplicas al Señor, Salomón se levantó de sus rodillas ante el altar del Señor, donde sus manos se habían extendido en oración al cielo;

And it happened that, when Solomon had completed praying this entire prayer and supplication to the Lord, he rose up from the sight of the altar of the Lord. For he had fixed both knees upon the ground, and he had extended his hands toward heaven.

55 Y, poniéndose de pie, dio una bendición a todos los hombres de Israel, diciendo en voz alta:

Then he stood and blessed the entire assembly of Israel in a great voice, saying:

56 Alabado sea el Señor que ha dado descanso a su pueblo Israel, como él les dio su palabra para hacer; cada palabra de todo su juramento, que hizo por medio de Moisés su siervo, se ha hecho realidad.

“Blessed is the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel, in accord with all that he said. Not even one word, out of all the good things that he spoke by his servant Moses, has fallen away.

57 Ahora, él Señor nuestro Dios esté con nosotros como lo estuvo con nuestros padres; que nunca se aleje de nosotros ni nos abandone;

May the Lord our God be with us, just as he was with our fathers, not abandoning us, and not rejecting us.

58 Volviendo nuestros corazones a él mismo, guiándonos a seguir todos sus caminos, a guardar sus órdenes y sus leyes y sus decisiones, que dio a nuestros antepasados.

But may he incline our hearts to himself, so that we may walk in all his ways, and keep his commandments, and his ceremonies, and whatever judgments he commanded to our fathers.

59 Y estas, mis palabras, las palabras de mi oración al Señor, sean delante del Señor nuestro Dios día y noche, para que pueda hacer justicia a su siervo y a su pueblo Israel, día tras día según sea necesario.

And may these my words, by which I have prayed before the Lord, be near to the Lord our God, day and night, so that he may accomplish judgment for his servant and for his people Israel, throughout each day.

60 Para que todos los pueblos de la tierra vean que el Señor es Dios, y no hay otro.

So may all the peoples of the earth know that the Lord himself is God, and there is no other beside him.

61 Entonces dejen que sus corazones estén sin pecado delante del Señor nuestro Dios, caminando en sus leyes y guardando sus órdenes como en este día.

Also, may our hearts be perfect with the Lord our God, so that we may walk in his decrees, and keep his commandments, as also on this day.”

62 Ahora, el rey y todo Israel con él, ofrecieron sacrificios al Señor.

Then the king, and all of Israel with him, immolated victims before the Lord.

63 Y Salomón dio al Señor por ofrendas de paz, veintidós mil bueyes y ciento veinte mil ovejas. Así que el rey y todos los hijos de Israel celebraron la fiesta de la apertura del templo del Señor.

And Solomon slew sacrifices of peace offerings, which he immolated to the Lord: twenty-two thousand oxen, and twenty thousand one hundred sheep. And the king and all the sons of Israel dedicated the temple of the Lord.

64 El mismo día, el rey santificó la mitad de la plaza abierta frente a la casa del Señor, ofreciendo allí la ofrenda quemada y la ofrenda de cereales y la grasa de las ofrendas de paz; porque no había lugar en el altar de bronce del Señor para las ofrendas quemadas y las ofrendas de cereales y la grasa de las ofrendas de paz.

On that day, the king sanctified the middle of the atrium, which was before the house of the Lord. For in that place, he offered holocaust, and sacrifice, and the fat of peace offerings. For the bronze altar, which was before the Lord, was too small and was not able to hold the holocaust, and the sacrifice, and the fat of the peace offerings.

65 Entonces Salomón y todo Israel con él, celebró una reunión muy grande porque la gente se había reunido desde el camino hacia Hamat hasta el río de Egipto celebró la fiesta en ese momento ante el Señor nuestro Dios, por dos semanas, incluso catorce días.

Then Solomon made, at that time, a celebratory festival, and all of Israel with him, a great multitude, from the entrance of Hamath to the river of Egypt, in the sight of the Lord our God, for seven days plus seven days, that is, fourteen days.

66 Y al octavo día despidió a la gente y bendiciendo al rey, fueron a sus casas alegres llenos de alegría y alegría en sus corazones, por todo el bien que el Señor le había hecho a David, su siervo, y a Israel su pueblo.

And on the eighth day, he dismissed the people. And blessing the king, they set out for their tents, rejoicing and cheerful in heart over all the good things that the Lord had done for his servant David and for his people Israel.
