1 Hiram, rey de Tiro, oyendo que Salomón había sido hecho rey en lugar de su padre, le envió a sus siervos; porque Hiram había sido amigo de David.
And Hiram king of Tyre sends his servants to Solomon, for he heard that they had anointed him for king instead of his father, for Hiram was loving toward David all the days;
2 Entonces Salomón envió una palabra a Hiram, diciendo:
and Solomon sends to Hiram, saying,
3 Sabes que David mi padre no pudo hacer una casa para el nombre del Señor su Dios, debido a las guerras que lo rodearon por todos lados, hasta que el Señor puso a todos los que estaban contra él bajo sus pies.
“You have known my father David, that he has not been able to build a house for the Name of his God YHWH, because of the wars that have been all around him, until YHWH’s putting them under the soles of his feet.
4 Pero ahora el Señor mi Dios me ha dado descanso por todas partes; Nadie está causando problemas, y ningún mal está ocurriendo.
And now, my God YHWH has given rest to me all around, there is no adversary nor evil occurrence,
5 Por lo tanto, es mi propósito hacer un templo para el nombre del Señor mi Dios, como le dijo a David mi padre: Tu hijo, a quien haré rey en tu lugar, será el constructor de un templo en su honor.
and behold, I am saying to build a house for the Name of my God YHWH, as YHWH spoke to my father David, saying, Your son whom I appoint in your stead on your throne, he builds the house for My Name.
6 Ahora, ¿Ordena que me corten árboles de cedro del Líbano talados para mí, y mis siervos estarán con tus sirvientes; y te daré el pago por tus sirvientes a la tarifa que digas; porque es de conocimiento general que no tenemos tales cortadores de madera entre nosotros como los hombres de Sidón.
And now, command, and they cut down cedars for me out of Lebanon, and my servants are with your servants, and I give the hire of your servants to you according to all that you say, for you have known that there is not a man among us acquainted with cutting wood, like the Sidonians.”
7 Y estas palabras de Salomón alegraron a Hiram, y él dijo: Ahora, sea bendito el Señor, que ha dado a David un hijo sabio para que sea rey sobre este gran pueblo.
And it comes to pass at Hiram’s hearing the words of Solomon, that he rejoices exceedingly and says, “Blessed [is] YHWH today, who has given to David a wise son over this numerous people.”
8 Entonces Hiram envió a Salomón este mensaje, diciendo: Me han dado el mensaje que me enviaste, y cumpliré tu pedido de la madera de cedro y la madera de ciprés.
And Hiram sends to Solomon, saying, “I have heard that which you have sent to me, I do all your desire concerning cedar-wood and fir-wood;
9 Mis hombres los llevarán desde el Líbano hasta el mar, donde los tendré amarrados para ir por mar a cualquier lugar que tu digas, y los haré cortar allí para que se los lleven; En cuanto al pago, será suficiente si me das comida para mi palacio.
my servants bring [them] down from Lebanon to the sea, and I make them floats in the sea to the place that you send to me, and I have spread them out there; and you take [them] up, and you execute my desire, to give the food [for] my house.”
10 Entonces Hiram le dio a Salomón toda la madera de cedro y la madera de ciprés que necesitaba;
And Hiram is giving cedar-trees and fir-trees to Solomon—all his desire,
11 Y Salomón dio a Hiram veinte mil medidas de grano, como alimento para su pueblo, y veinte medidas de aceite puro; esto lo hizo cada año.
and Solomon has given twenty thousand cors of wheat to Hiram, [the] food for his house, and twenty cors of beaten oil; thus Solomon gives to Hiram year by year.
12 Y él Señor le había dado sabiduría a Salomón, como le había dicho; y hubo paz entre Hiram y Salomón, e hicieron un acuerdo juntos.
And YHWH has given wisdom to Solomon as He spoke to him, and there is peace between Hiram and Solomon, and both of them make a covenant.
13 Entonces el rey Salomón impuso trabajo obligatorio, reunió a hombres para el trabajo forzado en todo Israel, treinta mil hombres en total;
And King Solomon lifts up a tribute out of all Israel, and the tribute is thirty thousand men,
14 Y los envió al Líbano en bandas de diez mil cada mes, durante un mes estuvieron trabajando en el Líbano y durante dos meses en su país, y Adoniram los controló.
and he sends them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month, by changes; they are in Lebanon [for] a month [and] two months in their own house; and Adoniram [is] over the tribute.
15 Luego tuvo setenta mil para el trabajo de transporte, y ochenta mil canteros en las montañas;
And King Solomon has seventy thousand bearing burdens, and eighty thousand hewing in the mountain,
16 Además de los jefes de los hombres responsables puestos por Salomón para supervisar el trabajo, tres mil y trescientos en autoridad sobre los obreros.
apart from the three thousand and three hundred heads of the officers of Solomon who [are] over the work—those ruling over the people who are working in the business.
17 Por orden del rey, se cortaron grandes piedras, piedras de alto precio, para que la base de la casa pudiera estar hecha de piedra labrada.
And the king commands, and they bring great stones, precious stones, [and] hewn stones, to lay the foundation of the house;
18 Los constructores de Salomón y los constructores de Hiram hicieron el trabajo de cortarlos, les pusieron bordes, y prepararon la madera y la piedra para la construcción del templo.
and the builders of Solomon, and the builders of Hiram, and the Giblites hew [them], and prepare the wood and the stones to build the house.
