1 Reyes 19
1 Acab le dio a Jezabel noticias de todo lo que Elías había hecho, y cómo había matado a filo de espada a todos los profetas.
And Ahab declares to Jezebel all that Elijah did, and all of how he slew all the prophets by the sword,
2 Entonces Jezabel envió a un sirviente a Elías, diciendo: Que el castigo de los dioses sea mío, y aún más, si no hago tu vida como la vida de uno de ellos para mañana a esta hora.
and Jezebel sends a messenger to Elijah, saying, “Thus the gods do, and thus do they add—surely about this time tomorrow, I make your life as the life of one of them.”
3 Y levantándose, temiendo por su vida, huyó y vino a Beerseba en Judá, separándose de su criado;
And he fears, and rises, and goes for his life, and comes to Beer-Sheba, that [is] Judah’s, and leaves his young man there,
4 Mientras él mismo viajaba por un día al desierto se sentaba debajo del enebro, deseando sólo la muerte; porque dijo: Basta: ahora, oh Señor, quítame la vida, porque no soy mejor que mis padres.
and he himself has gone a day’s journey into the wilderness, and comes and sits under a certain broom tree, and desires his soul to die, and says, “Enough, now, O YHWH, take my soul, for I [am] not better than my fathers.”
5 Y acostándose sobre la tierra, se fue a dormir debajo del enebro; Pero un ángel, tocándole, le dijo: Levántate y come.
And he lies down and sleeps under a certain broom tree, and behold, a messenger is reaching toward him and says to him, “Rise, eat”;
6 Y mirando hacia arriba, vio junto a su cabeza una torta cocida en las piedras y una jarra de agua. Así que tomó comida y bebida y volvió a dormir.
and he looks attentively, and behold, at his bolster [is] a cake [on] burning stones, and a dish of water, and he eats, and drinks, and turns, and lies down.
7 Y el ángel del Señor volvió por segunda vez, y tocándolo, dijo: Levántate y come un poco, porque te espera un largo viaje.
And the messenger of YHWH turns back a second time, and is reaching toward him, and says, “Rise, eat, for the way is too great for you”;
8 Entonces se levantó y tomó comida y bebida, y con la fuerza de esa comida continuó durante cuarenta días y noches, a Horeb, la montaña de Dios.
and he rises, and eats, and drinks, and goes in the power of that food [for] forty days and forty nights, to the mountain of God—Horeb.
9 Y allí fue a un agujero en la roca para pasar la noche; Entonces vino a él la palabra del Señor, que decía: ¿Qué estás haciendo aquí, Elías?
And he comes in there, to the cave, and lodges there, and behold, the word of YHWH [is] to him, and says to him, “What are you [doing] here, Elijah?”
10 Y él dijo: He sentido mucho celo por el honor del Señor, el Dios de los ejércitos; porque los hijos de Israel no han guardado tu acuerdo; han destruido tus altares, y han dado muerte a tus profetas con la espada: hasta que yo, incluso yo, soy el único que vive; Y ahora están intentando quitarme la vida.
And he says, “I have been very zealous for YHWH, God of Hosts, for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant—they have thrown down Your altars, and they have slain Your prophets by the sword, and I am left, I, by myself, and they seek my life—to take it.”
11 Entonces él dijo: Sal y toma tu lugar en la montaña delante del Señor. Entonces el Señor pasó, y las montañas se separaron por la fuerza de un gran viento, y las rocas se rompieron ante el Señor; Pero el Señor no estaba en el viento. Y después del viento hubo un terremoto, pero el Señor no estaba en el terremoto.
And He says, “Go out, and you have stood on the mountain before YHWH.” And behold, YHWH is passing by, and a wind—great and strong—is tearing mountains, and shattering rocks before YHWH, [but] YHWH [is] not in the wind; and after the wind [is] a shaking, [but] YHWH [is] not in the shaking;
12 Y después del terremoto hubo un incendio, pero el Señor no estaba en el fuego. Y después del fuego, el sonido de un suave aliento.
and after the shaking [is] a fire, [but] YHWH [is] not in the fire; and after the fire [is] a voice [like] a small whisper;
13 Al oírlo, Elías salió y se cubrió la cara con su túnica, y tomó su lugar en la abertura del agujero. Y allí le llegó una voz que decía: ¿Qué estás haciendo aquí, Elías?
and it comes to pass, at Elijah’s hearing [it], that he wraps his face in his robe, and goes out, and stands at the opening of the cave, and behold, a voice [speaks] to him, and it says, “What are you [doing] here, Elijah?”
14 Y él dijo: He sentido mucho celo por el honor del Señor, el Dios de los ejércitos; porque los hijos de Israel no han guardado tu acuerdo; han derribado tus altares y han matado a espada a tus profetas: hasta que yo, yo también, soy el único que vive; Y ahora están intentando quitarme la vida.
And he says, “I have been very zealous for YHWH, God of Hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, they have thrown down Your altars, and they have slain Your prophets by the sword, and I am left, I, by myself, and they seek my life—to take it.”
15 Y el Señor le dijo: Regresa por tu camino al desierto de Damasco; y cuando llegues allí, unge con el aceite santo a Hazael para hacerle rey sobre Siria,
And YHWH says to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus, and you have gone in, and anointed Hazael for king over Aram,
16 Y sobre Jehú, hijo de Nimsi, lo hizo rey sobre Israel; y en Eliseo, el hijo de Safat de Abel-mehola, para ser profeta en tu lugar.
and you anoint Jehu son of Nimshi for king over Israel, and you anoint Elisha son of Shaphat, of Abel-Meholah, for prophet in your stead.
17 Y sucederá que el hombre que se escapa de la espada de Hazael, lo matará Jehú; y cualquiera que se escape de la espada de Jehú, Eliseo lo matará.
And it has been, he who has escaped from the sword of Hazael, Jehu puts to death, and he who has escaped from the sword of Jehu, Elisha puts to death;
18 Pero guardaré siete mil a salvo en Israel, todos aquellos cuyas rodillas no hayan sido dobladas a Baal, y cuyas bocas no le han besado.
and I have left in Israel seven thousand—all the knees that have not bowed to Ba‘al, and every mouth that has not kissed him.”
19 Entonces se fue de allí y se encontró con Eliseo, el hijo de Safat, arando con doce yuntas de bueyes, él mismo caminando con la última; Y Elías se le acercó y le puso la túnica.
And he goes there, and finds Elisha son of Shaphat, and he is plowing; twelve yoke [are] before him, and he [is] with the twelfth; and Elijah passes over to him, and casts his robe at him,
20 Y dejando que los bueyes estuvieran donde estaban, vino corriendo tras Elías y dijo: Solo déjame besar a mi padre y a mi madre, y luego iré a buscarte. Pero él le dijo: ve, vuelve de nuevo; ¿qué te he hecho yo?
and he forsakes the ox, and runs after Elijah, and says, “Please let me give a kiss to my father and to my mother, and I go after you.” And he says to him, “Go, turn back, for what have I done to you?”
21 Volvió, tomó los bueyes, los mató y, cocinando su carne con los yugos de los bueyes, dio un banquete al pueblo. Luego se levantó y fue tras Elías y se convirtió en su sirviente.
And he turns back from after him, and takes the yoke of the ox, and sacrifices it, and with [the] instruments of the ox he has boiled its flesh, and gives to the people, and they eat, and he rises, and goes after Elijah, and serves him.
